OXVA Unveils ABT: World’s First Smart Liquid-Level Detection Technology to Prevent Dry Hits

This is a sponsored press release that has been written and provided by OXVA.

OXVA has unveiled ABT (Anti-Burn Tech), the world’s first smart liquid-level detection technology developed specifically for dry-hit protection in pod vaping devices.

Unlike conventional temperature-based approaches that monitor heat-related signals, ABT directly detects e-liquid levels. When e-liquid levels become too low, the system automatically stops power output and alerts users to refill, helping prevent dry hits before they occur.

Debuting with the OXVA XLIM PRO 4, OXVA’s first pod device featuring ABT technology, and the XLIM ABT Cartridge, ABT introduces a different approach to dry-hit protection: detecting low e-liquid levels, a key cause of dry hits, before they lead to an unpleasant burnt taste.

Beyond Temperature Control: Detecting the Cause, Not Just the Heat

Low e-liquid levels are a key cause of dry hits. When the wick is insufficiently saturated, continued heating can produce an unpleasant burnt taste.

Conventional temperature-based protection systems monitor coil temperature or related electrical signals during heating, reducing or cutting off power when a predefined threshold is reached. However, depending on the system and operating conditions, the wick may experience thermal stress before protection is triggered. Temperature-based detection can also be influenced by coil characteristics and e-liquid composition.

OXVA ABT takes a different approach. Instead of relying on heat-related signals, ABT uses Smart Liquid-Level Detection to identify insufficient e-liquid and prevent further heating when protection is needed. By addressing a key cause of dry hits directly, ABT helps reduce the risk of dry hits and unnecessary thermal stress on the wick.

For users, this means a clearer indication of when to refill, without constantly checking the cartridge.

How ABT Works: Detect, Alert & Stop, Protect

The XLIM PRO 4 works together with the specially developed XLIM ABT Cartridge to provide a three-step dry-hit protection process:

  • DETECT: Identifies when e-liquid is running low.
  • ALERT & STOP: Displays a refill alert and automatically stops output when the protection condition is triggered.
  • PROTECT: Helps prevent dry hits and protects the cartridge from accidental dry firing.

The system is designed to reduce the guesswork associated with monitoring e-liquid levels and help users avoid unexpected dry hits.

ABT protection requires both the XLIM PRO 4 and an XLIM ABT Cartridge. Compatible standard XLIM cartridges can still be used with the XLIM PRO 4, while XLIM ABT Cartridges can operate with supported earlier XLIM devices without activating ABT protection.

GrimmGreen Shares His Real-World ABT Experience

Ahead of the XLIM PRO 4 launch, OXVA teamed up with well-known vaping reviewer GrimmGreen for a livestream featuring live ABT demonstrations and discussions of its real-world benefits.

During the livestream, GrimmGreen recalled initially thinking something was wrong when his device unexpectedly stopped firing.

“I thought there was something wrong with my pod,” he said.

He later discovered that the cartridge was empty and ABT had activated, displaying a refill alert and preventing further firing.

“It won’t even let me get a dry hit,” he remarked, adding, “As soon as that liquid’s not there, it stops.”

His experience highlighted how ABT can intervene when e-liquid is insufficient, helping users avoid accidental dry hits without constantly monitoring their cartridges.

Industry Feedback: ABT Demonstrated in Germany

In September 2026, OXVA showcased ABT to distributors, retailers, and e-liquid industry partners at InterTabac 2026 in Dortmund, Germany, offering a firsthand look at the technology in action.

During a live demonstration, a representative from an e-liquid brand tested the XLIM PRO 4 with an empty XLIM ABT Cartridge. The device detected the condition and prevented firing.

The demonstration drew positive reactions from attendees, with some describing ABT as “Genius,” “Advanced,” and “the future of vaping.”

For retailers and distributors, ABT offers a clearly demonstrable product feature. Its combination of liquid-level detection, refill alerts, and automatic output control provides a straightforward way to explain dry-hit protection to customers.

From Constant Checking to Smart Protection

With ABT, OXVA takes a step forward in proactive dry-hit protection by addressing one of its key causes: low e-liquid levels.

By combining intelligent detection, timely refill alerts, and automatic protection, ABT helps make everyday vaping more predictable and reduces the need to constantly check the cartridge.

Debuting with the XLIM PRO 4 and XLIM ABT Cartridge, ABT represents another step in OXVA’s commitment to improving the XLIM experience through meaningful innovation.

Less Guesswork. More Confidence.
