Augvape Druga Foxy Review – First Mod with Quick Release/Install Atomizer Button

Brand new from Augvape is the Druga Foxy: a dual 18650 battery, variable wattage/voltage box mod that will fire at up to 150W. This is a mod that I’ve been wanting to get my hands on for a number of reasons, with looks being one of them. The aesthetics of the Druga Foxy are very clean and modern looking, with soft curves and rounded edges. The device also has some very nice looking panels, which are removable and interchangeable as well.

But the Druga Foxy has one feature in particular that is really cool and interesting: a quick release/install atomizer switch. This switch allows you to quickly remove or install your atomizer without having to fully tighten or loosen the threading.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Druga Foxy, and in this review I’m going to go over everything you need to know about this device. Let’s start with the box contents.

What’s In The Box

The box for the Druga Foxy is black with gold branding, and has a window that lets you see the device inside. When you open the box up you get:

That’s it, pretty straight forward. Because the Druga Foxy has no micro-USB port, you don’t get a micro-USB cable with the device. You probably have enough of them already; I know I do.

Design & Build Quality

The Druga Foxy is a dual 18650 box mod with a very modern looking design. Rather than sharp angles, the Foxy has soft curves and a rounded body which give it a nice feel in the hand. It is quite a heavy mod even without the batteries installed, but I actually like the weight. Instead of feeling light and cheap, the weight of the Foxy feels solid and high end.

The body of the Druga Foxy has a beautiful mirror finish that is quite reflective and shiny. This also means that it easily attracts fingerprints and scratches, but I’m a huge fan of the mirror finish over a brushed finish. On the back of the device you’ll find the battery door cover which is light and made of plastic, and features a cool 3D cube design. It also features the familiar Druga logo.

The battery cover is attached magnetically, and simply pulls off to expose the battery compartment. This compartment is clean and well machined, but is a bit tight when installing your batteries. For easy battery removal, there’s a convenient ribbon that you can pull.

On the front of the Druga Foxy you’ll find a similarly patterned panel and a small screen. This display is pretty crisp, but is a bit too small and dim for my liking. The front panel window for the screen is also shaded, and this doesn’t exactly help with the readability. The front panel on the Druga Foxy is magnetic, and can be pulled off to expose two circular adjustment buttons. These buttons are small, have a nice click to them, and work great.

The fact that the adjustment buttons are hidden is great for the appearance of the Druga Foxy, as it gives it a clean and minimalistic look. However, it’s a little inconvenient to have to remove the panel every time you want to adjust the wattage/voltage. This might not be a problem for some people, but if you’re someone like me who likes to fiddle with their wattage, it can be a bit frustrating.

Interestingly, underneath the front panel, there is a sort of Ohm’s law “cheat sheet” printed on the device. All of the formulas you need for calculating the different variables of Ohms law are there, and it’s a neat reference to have (even if it is a regulated mod). It certainly looks cool.

The fire button on the Druga Foxy is located on the side of the device, more towards the top. It’s a square button with rounded edges and makes a satisfying click when pressed. The fire button is easy to reach and natural to use.

Quick Release/Install Button

The hallmark feature of the Druga Foxy lies in its 510 connector. Augvape have patented something called “Quick Release” which makes it extremely simple to install or remove your atomizer.

First off, the 510 plate on the Druga Foxy is centered, which is a huge plus. By pressing a button on the side of the device, half of the 510 connector will retract. This will allow you to quickly pop your atomizer on or off of the device. Both the 510 connector and the release button are well built, and work nicely (more about the Quick Release in our Features & Functions section).

Installing an atomizer using the quick release button is surprisingly smooth for a first iteration. You can tell that a good amount of research and testing has gone into ensuring that it works as seamlessly as possible.

The quick release button has a nice springiness to it when pushed, and takes a good amount of force to activate. At first, I had fears that I would accidentally push the quick release button instead of the fire button. But because the quick release button sits flush with the body of the Druga Foxy, I never had this happen.

Overall, the design of the Druga Foxy is gorgeous and modern with build quality that is also superb. It looks nice, feels good to hold, and is easy to use. The small and dim screen is my only real gripe with the design, as I rather like the hidden adjustment buttons; even if they are a little inconvenient to access.

Features & Functions

The Druga Foxy is a dual 18650 battery mod, and is powered by Augvape’s own in-house chipset. To turn the device on or off, click the fire button five times fast.

There are two modes on the Druga Foxy: variable wattage and variable voltage. In wattage mode, the Foxy will fire from 5-150W. In voltage mode, it will fire from 0.5-6.5V. To switch between modes, hold the adjustment buttons down at the same time. After a second or so, the mode will switch.

The UI on the Foxy is simple: the display will show your wattage/voltage, resistance, and battery level. There are no button combinations to lock the resistance or fire button, and no menu.

How to Use the Druga Foxy Quick Release/Install

Installing or removing an atomizer is unbelievably simple with the quick release button. To install an atomizer, start by pushing the quick release button. Now, firmly press your atomizer down onto the 510 connector and release the button. Give the atomizer a half turn or so clockwise, and it’s on. Simple.

Removing an atomizer is even easier. Press the quick release button and give your atomizer a half turn counter clockwise. It will pop off. This is great for cleaning your connections, and makes it a lot faster to switch attys as well.

Performance

Whether in wattage or voltage mode, the Druga Foxy hits fast and it hits hard. From the moment that you push the fire button, it’s firing without delay. I was vaping with the Druga Foxy at some pretty high wattages (130W+), and it definitely felt like I was getting the power that I set.  

The battery efficiency of the Druga Foxy is noticeably better than some other dual 18650 battery box mods, and seems to sip power at a slower rate. I found myself getting longer battery life out of the same atomizer and battery setup when using the Druga Foxy, and that’s always a good thing.

I also had a lot of fun vaping with the voltage mode. Pushing it more towards 6.5V gives you some great hits.

In the performance department, the Druga Foxy is great. The wattage and voltage modes work awesome, and the battery efficiency will more than get you through the day.

Final Verdict — Augvape Druga Foxy Review

So here we are, at the end of the review. The Druga Foxy is a gorgeous looking mod, and the minimalistic design matches the beautiful, simple nature of the devices operation.

The quick release button is a really cool and innovative feature, and I found myself using it more than I thought I would. Testing out different tanks with the Druga Foxy was a breeze, and the quick release also makes it very hassle free to clean your atomizer contact.

While the Foxy doesn’t have some features, like temperature control mode or an advanced menu, it makes up for it with it’s stellar wattage/voltage mode performance. The ability to go up to 150W or 6.5V is a nice max, as most vapers won’t be needing more power than that.

For a dual 18650 mod, battery life is noticeably better than some other mods and will definitely get you through the day if you’re a lower wattage vaper.  

So if you’re a mid wattage/voltage vaper who doesn’t mess around with temperature control mode, the Druga Foxy might be the mod for you. Stay Versed!
