Design & Build Quality: Dead Rabbit RDA Review
The Dead Rabbit RDA is manufactured from 304 stainless steel and comes in a wide variety of colors. The paint used to coat the RDA is great quality and has held up well after weeks of use, with no signs of chipping or flaking.
Now, this RDA is already pretty, but with the included resin drip tip it looks even better. If that’s not your style, the Dead Rabbit also comes included with a black 810 delrin drip tip and 510 drip tip adapter so that you can use whichever drip tip you’re most comfortable with.
Engraved on one side of the RDA is a large Dead Rabbit logo, and there are two, well-machined, long airflow slots on the barrel. The airflow is adjustable by turning the knurled top cap, but we found it more than a little difficult to turn. You have to really use some force to turn the top cap and adjust the airflow, and that’s one thing we didn’t like. If it was a little easier to adjust, it would’ve been perfect.
Now, what’s unique about the airflow on the Dead Rabbit is that the airflow slots in the top cap are downward slanted. This means a more controlled airflow going straight to your coils when you inhale, and thus a more intense flavor. This downward slanted airflow is one of the main reasons why the Dead Rabbit delivers such stunning flavor and smooth draws, and can be adjusted for either single or dual slot airflow mode depending on your preference.
The build deck in the Dead Rabbit RDA features four posts with a single terminal per post and has gold plated positive posts and plain stainless steel negative posts. The rabbit ear design of the posts is not only stylish, but also practical. Because of this design, you’re able to easily insert your leads from the top and secure them from the sides. After securing your coils, you simply trim your leads from the bottom.
In the center of the Dead Rabbit’s deck is a squonk block, which will disperse your ejuice evenly when using the included 510 bottom feeding squonk pin and a squonk mod. The 5mm deep juice well can hold a lot of juice and this means less time having to drip, and less chances of over-squonking or over-dripping. In our whole time of using and testing the Dead Rabbit RDA, we’ve only experienced leaking once — and it was due to the coils being too close to the airflow slots.
Building on the Dead Rabbit RDA
Building on the Dead Rabbit is easy and painless thanks to the top terminal build deck as you can simply drop your leads into the posts, and trim the excess from the bottom. However, it can be a little tricky to cut the excess wire off if you don’t have a thin pair of wire cutters as the space between the bottom of the post and the lip of the deck is quite small.
Because of the mounted design of the posts, your coils will sit quite a bit higher than in other RDA decks. This will mean longer wicks and thus further for your juice to travel, however we haven’t experienced any problems with wicking yet, and the Dead Rabbit performs just as good as any other RDA in this regard.
Once seated, the screws hold the coils in place beautifully on the deck, with enough room for even the most advanced coil builds.
The deck design of the Dead Rabbit is extremely easy to build on for beginners, but more advanced vapers will still love the ease of use and spacious build space.
Vaping & Squonking Performance: Dead Rabbit RDA Review
We vaped with the Dead Rabbit using various types of coils and resistances, and found that it delivered awesome performance, no matter the set up. However, we found that the Dead Rabbit performs at its absolute best when used with a dual coil setup.
Because of the higher position of the coils in the deck and thus their closer proximity to your mouth, the Dead Rabbit delivers a stronger, more flavorful vapor than other RDAs and the downward slanted airflow only makes it better. The flavor that you get from this RDA is practically unrivaled, and definitely places it in the top ranks of flavor RDAs.
With 0.2ohm dual clapton coils, the vapor is warm and full and produces some magnificent clouds. The Dead Rabbit RDA seems to vape best when the airflow is around halfway closed, but you may have a difference in preference.
When squonking with the Dead Rabbit, it also performs great. The squonk block in the middle of the deck disperses the juice nice and evenly, and the 5ml deep juice well is great for those who over-squonk. You can squonk plenty of juice into this RDA and still experience no leaking or other issues. Plus, you can vape forever without having to squonk again. With correctly installed coils and wicks, the Dead Rabbit will deliver great vaping and squonking performance without a hassle.
Final Verdict: Dead Rabbit RDA Review
The overall verdict on the Dead Rabbit RDA is overwhelmingly positive. While this RDA does have some minor flaws, such as the tightness of the top cap to adjust the airflow, it delivers great vaping and squonking performance for those looking to get the most flavor out of their ejuices. The top terminal, four post design is extremely easy to build on as long as you have some thin wire cutters to trim your leads, and the inclusion of a squonk pin makes it easy to squonk and go drip-free. The top slanted airflow on the Dead Rabbit delivers a smooth and flavorful vaping experience, and is adjustable to fit whatever type of airflow you desire. Just be careful not to sprain your wrist trying to turn it! Overall, an amazing RDA that is easy to build on and delivers exceptional flavor. You’ll be happy that you bought one.
