How Much Do THC, CBD, and Other Vape Carts Cost?

If you are exploring the world of vaping cannabis, you’ve probably noticed how much the cost of THC carts can vary. Whether you are seeking out cost-effective options or want to spend your cash on premium distillates and live resin, understanding the factors that dictate the price tag is key.

Everything from the type of oil and manufacturing process to where you live and where you shop impacts how much you might have to pay for your weed carts. Even the type of device you choose to use to vape cannabis matters, with 510-thread carts commonly costing less than PAX pod systems, but more than true disposables.

In this guide, we examine the average costs of THC weed carts, investigate the factors that can influence their pricing, and help you determine how to get the best value for your money while choosing the carts that work for you.

  • Many factors can influence the cost of weed carts. These can include the brand, ingredients, type of liquid used in the cart, manufacturing process, where the cart is bought from, the device you use, and your geographical location.
  • The average cost of a 1-gram cart containing one of the most common types of THC (Delta 9, 8, or 10) is around $30-$40. The cost of smaller 300mg or 500mg carts will be less but don’t expect to pay half the price just because they are half the size.
  • CBD carts commonly cost less than THC carts, as do carts that blend several cannabinoids such as Delta 8, HHC, and CBN. CBD carts cost an average of $20-$25 for 1 gram, but buying 1.2g or 2g carts will be even more cost-effective.
  • An alternative to weed carts is disposable THC vapes. At around $25 for 2 grams, these typically cost far less than 510-tread carts. However, it is more difficult to find disposables that contain a single cannabinoid such as Delta 9 or Delta 8 THC.

While the availability of different types of cannabis carts has never been greater, when people talk about “weed carts” it is most commonly one of the psychoactive versions they are referring to. The best known, if you are looking for a high, is Delta 9 THC, but the newer Delta 8 and Delta 10 have grown considerably in popularity in the last few years.

THC-based weed carts are usually available in either 1g or 500mg sizes. Occasionally, brands will also include a 300mg size in their lineups, but this volume is more common in THC disposables than in the more traditional carts.

Cost of Delta 9 THC Carts

Of all currently available Delta THC carts, Delta 9 is the type most affected by location when it comes to cost. Unless you are buying hemp-derived carts with under 0.3% D9 THC, you will be forced to buy from local stores, and even then, only in states where it is legal.

As a general rule, you should expect to pay at least $25-$35 for a 1-gram Delta 9 THC cart. Premium distillate 1g carts are likely to cost significantly more, at around $45 on average. Despite being half the size, a 500mg cart won’t cost half as much as a 1g cart. Expect to pay around $20-$30 for half a gram and perhaps slightly less for a less common 300mg cart.

However, if you live in a state where cannabis taxation is high, 1g could cost as much as $60-$70, and even 300/500g carts might set you back $35-$60.

Cost of Delta 8 THC Carts

Delta 8 THC is hemp-derived and is widely considered to provide a gentler high than Delta 9. But despite its less potent effects, a 1 gram Delta 8 THC cart generally costs around the same as a standard Delta 9 cart, or around $25-$30. The difference is that Delta 8 can legally be purchased online (although it is currently a bit of a grey area), which means more choice and a higher likelihood of finding cut price deals.

  • 1 gram Delta 8 cart – Expect to pay around $25-30 for decent-quality products
  • 300mg/500mg Delta 8 cart – Expect to pay $15-$25 for decent-quality products

Cost of Delta 10 THC Carts

Delta 10 is the major THC variant least likely to be found as the sole active ingredient in weed carts. Pure Delta 10 THC carts can be found, both online and in cannabis dispensaries, but it is much more commonly blended with other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBN, HHC, and often with Delta 8. Therefore, the cost depends on the other cannabinoids in the blend, the quantities in which they appear, etc. Expect to pay between $12-$25 for carts containing Delta 10 blended with other ingredients, although we’ve seen carts for sale online for as little as $8.

Despite the manufacturing process of Delta 10 THC being similar to Delta 8, prices of pure Delta 10 carts appear to be considerably lower.

  • 1 gram Delta 10 – Expect to pay between $10-$25 for decent-quality products
  • 300mg/500mg Delta 10 – Expect to pay between $8-$20 for decent-quality products

Variations in the Cost of Weed Carts

Average prices will vary depending on several factors, including the specific strain used, if the THC is blended with other cannabinoids, and where in the country you are buying it. But the factor likely to make the biggest difference to the cost is whether it is distillate or live resin inside that little glass tube.

How Much Do Live Resin Weed Carts Cost?

The term “live resin” is used to describe cannabis products made using fresh or fresh-frozen plants in a process that retains much or all of the plant’s natural chemical composition. Live resin carts are often considered to be higher quality than distillate carts (although this is not necessarily true) and are preferred by many users because they produce a more rounded and natural high.

While those two factors can contribute to live resin carts being more expensive, the higher cost is much more likely due to the more time-consuming and involved process required to make cannabis products from fresh plants. This extra time and complexity translates into a product that generally costs at least 25% more than a distillate equivalent.

  • 1 gram live resin cart: Expect to pay $50-$80 for decent-quality products
  • 500mg live resin cart: Expect to pay $30-$50+ for decent-quality products

How Much Do CBD Carts Cost?

CBD carts are generally available in a much wider range of sizes than THC carts. You can not only find CBD in the standard 1g and 500mg volumes, but also in 200mg, 450mg, 1.2g, 2g, and a few other sizes. This variety of available cart sizes means it’s a little more difficult to find the average CBD cart cost.

  • Under 1 gram: Expect to pay $15-25 for decent-quality carts
  • 1 gram to 2 grams: Expect to $30-$50 for decent-quality carts
  • Pure, broad-spectrum CBD carts: These tend to be the most expensive option. We’ve seen high-quality 450mg CBD-only carts selling for $40-$50. Carts that use CBD blended with other hemp-derived cannabinoids (often HHC or CBN) can be bought for as little as $15 for 2 grams.

As with all of the other carts on this list, the cost of CBD carts bought from your local cannabis dispensary varies from state to state. In states where tighter cannabis taxation makes running a store more expensive, you could easily encounter prices for CBD carts that are twice as high as those listed here.

Weed Carts Vs Disposables – Which Are More Cost Effective?

How Much Do THC, CBD, and Other Vape Carts Cost - 2

THC and other cannabinoid disposables are a more recent option than traditional carts, but if you want anything other than cannabis-derived Delta 9 they can be a cost-effective alternative. You might struggle to find a great range of THC disposables in your local cannabis store, but the choice online is huge.

You can easily find disposables containing 2 grams of Delta 8, Delta 10, CBD, and many other cannabinoids for as little as $25 (or $12.50 per gram) and “big puff” disposables containing between 5g and 8.5g for under $40

There are both distillate and live resin disposable available, using Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid blends, so it shouldn’t be difficult to find something that meets your needs. The only thing going against disposables is that it seems quite difficult to find products that only contain a single cannabinoid. We’ve seen a few that only contain Delta 8 or CBD, but these are definitely in the minority.

Factors that Influence Weed Cart Prices

As should be clear from the comparisons of average costs above, several factors can influence the cost-to-end-user of weed carts. Here’s a reminder of the main ones you should consider when comparing the cost of THC carts before you make your choice.

  • Brand” Well-known and trusted cannabis brands can get away with charging more premium prices. And while not all do so, brand popularity is something that can inflate weed cart prices.
  • Cart Size: The gram size of the cart you choose will affect the price. However, as shown above, perhaps not always by as much as might be expected. But as a general rule, 2g will cost more than 1g, which will cost more than 500mg, etc.
  • Location: If you are buying carts from local cannabis stores, the price will be dictated by the level of taxation that the state places on cannabinoids. A 1-gram cart that costs $35 in Colorado might cost $60 in Michigan.
  • Manufacturing Process: Distillate, broad-spectrum, live resin. How the cannabis or hemp used in a vape cart is processed affects not only the experience but almost certainly the price.
  • Ingredients and Quality: Carts that use only high-quality ingredients (U.S. hemp, etc) and that display independent lab tests (which you should always look for) are likely to be more expensive than those that don’t, no matter if it is a distillate or live resin product.

The Bottom Line

It is no surprise that the cost of THC weed carts varies, but the degree of variation and the reasons why not all seemingly similar carts cost the same are less obvious. Not only will the brand, quality, and cannabinoid ingredients dictate the price, but so too will the manufacturing process and even the state you live in. THC carts can cost as little as $10 and as much as $80, but most users in the United States should be able to find decent-quality 1-gram carts for around $35.
