The bottom line

I’m not a fan of the animations and general toyish look of the X-Cube, which is a shame because the performance is there. I’m also not sure about the advertised 25,000 puffs, which seems over-stated due to my experience with the amount of puffs I got per charge.

Still, I like the X-Cube and its modular design. It’s good for the environment and it eliminates waiting for your disposable to charge since you can just use the 100mAh pod as a standalone.

If these benefits sound good to you, the X-Cube could be a nice disposable companion. Just beware of the funky animations and all of the attention that they might attract.

Product Overview

The Off-Stamp X-Cube is a new disposable that takes the problem of e-waste seriously. It has a modular design that consists of two pieces: the battery and the disposable pod. Once you’re done with the disposable pod, you throw it away and reuse the battery with a new pod.

The X-Cube battery has three power modes, a 2.25-inch TFT display, and a 1000mAh battery. The X-Cube classic pod features 18ml of ejuice in 50mg/ml strength, two-mode adjustable airflow, and a dual mesh coil. It also has a 100mAh battery, which means it can be used as a standalone device.

When combined through the magnetic connection, you get a disposable with an 1100mAh battery and some great features. There are 16 flavors to choose from.

This concept of a reusable battery isn’t new, and the X-Cube isn’t the first modular disposable I’ve seen. I’ve previously reviewed a similar device from OXBAR called the SVOPP, which had similar specs and features.

Is the Off-Stamp X-Cube a modular disposable worth buying? You’ll find out in this review.

These devices were sent to me by Mi-Pod for this review.

Design & Build Quality

  • Off-Stamp X-Cube - 5

The Off-Stamp X-Cube is a device that stands out, and that’s not just because of the modular design. Nearly all the pods and batteries come in very vibrant colors, so they stick out like a sore thumb.

To add to this, the pod portions have different shapes printed on them, and the battery portions have a large “X” on the mode button. All of these different elements come together to give the X-Cube a toyish look which, while I’ll admit it looks cool, is probably not the right look for a vaping device.

This toyish look is made even worse by the on-screen graphics that display each time you vape. There are five different animations which can be selected using the “Display Control” button at the top of the battery.

These animations include an Off-Stamp logo, a basketball, a ball with a face, a sunflower playing an instrument, and a pair of dancing headphones. For a vaping device that is meant for adults only, it’s not a great look. I can easily see this being picked on by regulators as appealing to kids–and they would probably be right.

Let’s talk about the modular design. When you purchase the Off-Stamp X-Cube, you get a kit consisting of a battery and a pod. The two pieces connect magnetically. It’s a strong connection and while I haven’t had the two pieces come apart in my pocket, they will likely separate if you drop the device (ask me how I know this).

  • Off-Stamp X-Cube - 6

When the ejuice in the pod portion is finished, you keep the battery for use with a new pod. This is great for the environment as it means less electronic waste going into landfills. Interestingly, the X-Cube pod has a 100mAh battery so it can be used as a standalone device. This is enough battery to provide some puffs while the 1000mAh battery portion charges, so there’s really no downtime with the X-Cube.

The mode-selection button is a little stiff but otherwise feels good. The display control button is less stiff and feels perfect.

The bottom of the pod has an airflow selection switch which can be set to two modes. The first mode is a tight MTL draw. The second mode makes the airflow hole larger and the MTL draw a little less tight.

It’s worth mentioning that there are two types of e-juice pods available for the X-Cube: Classic pods and Sweet pods. The Sweet pods are a little wider than the Classic pods and have a button that can be used to adjust the sweetness of the flavor from levels 1 to 3.

Features

  • Off-Stamp X-Cube - 23

The Off-Stamp X-Cube is a well-featured device with a large 1100mAh battery, three power modes, and the ability to reuse the battery. These are only available in 50mg/ml nicotine strength.

Depending on which of the three power modes you use, Off-Stamp says that each pod can provide up to 25000 puffs. The three power modes are Light, Normal, and Turbo. There isn’t any information available about the wattage each mode outputs, but I can easily tell the difference between them.

Light is a pretty weak draw, Normal feels like what I’m used to from other 50mg disposables, and Turbo is a very powerful draw. I didn’t use Turbo much and preferred to vape mostly with the Normal level. The mode can be adjusted by pressing the square button on the side of the battery.

The 2.25-inch TFT display is really something, and I don’t mean that entirely in a good way. At the top of the display, it shows your ejuice and battery levels, which are each indicated by a four bar indicator. These only take up a tiny portion of the screen, while the rest of the display is dedicated to showing symbols and animations when you draw.

This is a waste of the screen real estate in my opinion, and the device would have been better if some of that space was used for battery and ejuice percentage levels rather than childish (and quite frankly, useless) animations.

The display is very bright and attention grabbing, but it can be dimmed by holding the Display Adjustment button on top of the battery. This is useful in dark rooms, like for a few puffs before bed. It’s still bright, even on the dimmest setting, but it’s not as blindingly bright as when set to full brightness.

The Sweet-Cube is different from the Classic-Cube because of its slightly larger size, different rounded mouthpiece, and sweetness-adjustment button. This button can be used to adjust the sweetness of the flavor from levels 1 to 3.

Flavors

Off-Stamp X-Cube - 1

There are eight Sweet-Cube flavors and eight Classic-Cube flavors available for the X-Cube. These flavors are:

Sweet-Cube Flavors

  • Sour Lush Gummy
  • Sour Wildberry Gummy
  • Blue Razz B-Pop
  • Grape Rancher
  • Sour Lemon
  • Sour Berry Bubblegum
  • Strawberry Rolls Up
  • Wintergreen Candy

Classic-Cube Flavors

  • Blue Razz Ice
  • Florida Sherbet
  • Dragon Strawnana
  • Hawaiian Pop
  • Miami Mint
  • Bangin’ Peach
  • Rocket Pop
  • Bangin’ Watermelon

‘Sour-Cube’ might have been a more appropriate name for the “Sweet-Cube” flavors, seeing as half of them are sour. As for the Classic flavors, there’s a bit of everything with a blue razz flavor, candy/dessert flavors, and a pure mint flavor. It’s a nice assortment of flavors overall.

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor, this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Bangin’ Watermelon

If you’ve ever vaped a ‘Lush Ice’ flavor, that’s what this tastes like, just minus the ice. It’s not an overly sweet flavor and most of the watermelon taste comes through on the exhale. This is a good all day vape.

Florida Sherbet

Off-Stamp did a great job recreating the flavor of a real sherbet here. There’s a lot of fruity notes and I mostly taste citrusy ones. This flavor is on the sweeter side, so personally not a flavor I can vape all day, but it satisfies my sweet tooth, that’s for sure.

Rocket Popsicle

The name is what this flavor tastes like. Lots of rocket pop flavor and a healthy amount of sweetness too. Again, not my pick for an all day vape due to how sweet it is, but it’s a nostalgic flavor that takes me back to my childhood.

Dragon Strawnana

The dragon fruit flavor comes in very briefly and subtly on the inhale and is quickly taken over by stronger strawberry notes. There’s a medium level of sweetness and a naturalness to the flavor.

Grape Rancher (Sweet-Cube Flavor)

This tastes like a really sweet grape flavor and not much else. It’s good, but I was expecting a more candied taste from the name. The three levels of sweetness seem to make a difference, with level three being much stronger in flavor than level one. It certainly gets a lot sweeter the higher you set the sweetness level.

How long do they last?

Off-Stamp X-Cube - 4

With its 1100mAh battery and 18ml of ejuice, the Off-Stamp X-Cube looks set for success, and I’ve generally found it to hold up during my use. The battery lasts for 2-3 days on a charge, and since the pod has a 100mAh battery that allows it to be used as a standalone, there’s really no downtime at all with the X-Cube. I can set the battery to charge and continue to use the pod while I wait. I timed multiple charges and each one took 45-50 minutes.

Each charge uses one of the four bars of ejuice. With this in mind, I’m not sure that these will reach 25,000 puffs, at least not if you’re vaping them on normal or turbo mode. I don’t think that I got anywhere near 6250 puffs on a single charge, so I’m doubtful that a pod is lasting for 25,000 with four full uses of a charge, even in Light mode.

How do they vape?

Off-Stamp X-Cube - 2

This is my second time using a modular vape and I’ve really come to like the benefits that they offer. Being able to use the pod separately from the battery while it charges is a game changer and eliminates any sort of downtime. It’s a great little quality of life feature.

Aside from this, the Off-Stamp X-Cube functions and vapes just like any other disposable. The ‘Light’ power output might be too weak for some vapers, but since these only come in 50mg strength, it might be just right for someone who isn’t used to 50mg but wants to try the X-Cube.

Normal mode is the best all-around mode. It outputs a nice draw that feels like what I would expect from a 50mg disposable. This is the mode that most 50mg vapers will want to use and stick with.

Turbo mode is a bit strange to include on a 50mg disposable. It’s such a powerful draw that I don’t see how anyone will use it, at least not for extended periods of time.

Verdict

I’m not a fan of the animations and general toyish look of the X-Cube, which is a shame because the performance is there. I’m also not sure about the advertised 25,000 puffs, which seems over-stated due to my experience with the amount of puffs I got per charge.

Still, I like the X-Cube and its modular design. It’s good for the environment and it eliminates waiting for your disposable to charge since you can just use the 100mAh pod as a standalone.

If these benefits sound good to you, the X-Cube could be a nice disposable companion. Just beware of the funky animations and all of the attention that they might attract.
