Puffmi DURA 9000 Disposables Review

Puffmi is a vaping brand that focuses specifically on disposable vapes. All ten of their available products are disposables, with each one coming in a different shape, size, and puff count rating to cater to the needs of different types of vapers.

Their latest offering is the DURA 9000. This is their largest puff-count disposable yet and also one of the highest puff-count disposables that I’ve reviewed. Each DURA9000 comes filled with a crazy 20ml of ejuice and offers up to 9000 puffs. They’re rechargeable with Type-C charging and pack a 650mAh battery. The DURA 9000 is available in 2% and 5% nicotine strengths.

In addition to the crazy capacity and puff count rating, each one also has a small screen that displays your ejuice and battery charge levels to make it easier to keep tabs on where your ejuice and battery life are sitting.

Design & Build Quality

Puffmi’s DURA 9000 disposables are really nice and I would go as far as to say that they look more like a pod device than a disposable. First is the shape, which is boxy but rounded and still very portable.

For being filled with 20ml of ejuice I expected these to be much larger, but they’re actually a reasonable size. Each one is 84mm tall, 50mm wide, and 21mm thick, so they’re not much larger than other lower-capacity disposables.

Holding one in my hand gives an excellent and comfortable hand-feel. They’re a little too large to completely conceal but I think that Puffmi struck a good balance between large eliquid capacity and pocket-friendliness. They’re a little heavy at 73g but that comes with the territory of a 9000 puff count device.

There’s a couple of materials and finishes used for the DURA 9000 and they go together nicely. The majority of the body (the front and back sides) feature a soft-touch coating with micro-ridges. Not only does this feel nice, but the finish is slightly metallic (perhaps satin is more correct). This finish, combined with the micro-ridges, give a cool effect when light hits the body of the device. It looks like sun rays that emit from the little display, which is pretty cool.

The rest of the device (the bottom, sides, top, and mouthpiece) are finished in two-layers; a solid plastic underneath and a clear plastic layer on top. The color of the soft-touch finish panels and plastic bezel are both the same color, which gives you a hint about the flavor of the device. For example, Zesty Cola is red, Cool Mint is green, Quad Berry Ice is blue, etc…

The mouthpiece is a nice shape and size. It’s not too large and not too small, with a nice slope and an oval shaped top. 

The front of the DURA 9000 has Puffmi’s cursive logo (which I love), as well as the model (DURA 9000) and flavor. The other side has a small Puffmi logo which is a P with an eye. I’m not sure what animal it’s supposed to be but I think it looks neat.

Located just below the Puffmi cursive logo is a nicely sized oval display. This displays your remaining ejuice and battery level by way of four dots for each. The LEDs are quite bright and it’s a really useful feature to have. I think that the way that they integrated it into the front of the device looks clean and premium. It really feels like it was a main design point and not just an afterthought of the design.

Finally, on the bottom of the DURA 9000 is an airflow inlet hole and the Type-C charging port.

Features

I just touched on the eliquid/battery life display in the previous section but I want to hop right back on the topic because it’s one of the standout features of the DURA 9000.

Each time that you take a puff, the display will light up to show two symbols: a lightning bolt for the battery indicator and a droplet for the ejuice level indicator. Underneath each of these symbols are four dots. 

When all four dots are lit up for each, this means that you have between a 75% to 100% battery and ejuice level. As you vape, you’ll first notice the indicators going down, with each light indicating a 25% charge or ejuice level. The indicators work as follows:

• Two Lights: 25% to 50%
• One Light: Under 25%

As you vape, you’ll first notice the battery life indicators going down. Then, after the first couple of recharges, you’ll notice the first ejuice level indicator going away.

While this isn’t an actual ‘display’ (it’s really LEDs shining through cutouts in the plastic) it serves the real and useful purpose of letting you know when your battery and ejuice are getting low. It functions great and has been pretty reliable with all of the devices/flavors that I’ve been using. 

In addition to the battery/eliquid level display, the other standout feature of the DURA 9000 is the ejuice capacity and puff count. Each one comes with 20ml of ejuice and a 650mAh rechargeable battery, which together will net you somewhere around 9000 puffs per device. This is one of the largest capacity disposables on the market and also one of the smallest puffs-to-size devices that I’ve seen.

Catering to both heavier and lighter vapers, the DURA 9000 is available in either 20mg or 50mg/ml nicotine strength. This makes them TPD compliant for the UK but also keeps them available to higher-nicotine vapers in the USA and other parts of the world.

Although these may look a bit like a pod vape, they’re still disposables and as such they’re easily vaped on by drawing on the device. There’s no button to turn them on or off, nor a button to activate them.

Depending on your vaping habits, you can expect to vape for 2-3 days off of a single charge (longer if you don’t vape frequently). A single charge should get you around 400-500 puffs, so you can expect to recharge these 18+ times before all of the ejuice is finished. That’s a lot of charges from a single disposable device.

Flavors

What good is a disposable vape if there aren’t a good choice of flavors? No doubt Puffmi knows this as there are 24 flavors available for the DURA 9000. On their website, Puffmi states that “Each flavor has been refined by experienced flavorists dozens of times”, which is interesting. They also state that the flavors have been “tried and tested by more than 200+ local users”. 

The flavors available for the DURA 9000 include a tobacco flavor, a coffee flavor, fruit mixes, fruit/ice combos, and drink flavors. It’s a tasty looking lineup and you can tell that thought was put into the choices. The flavors for the DURA 9000 are:

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Quad Berry Ice

This tastes a lot like a blue razz flavor to me. Blue raspberry is the strongest flavor here but I think I taste subtle notes of blueberry. I don’t taste any other berries and since there’s no flavor description on Puffmi’s website or elsewhere, I couldn’t tell you what other berries are supposed to be in this flavor. It is good though, with the ice being light and complimenting the blue razz without overpowering the whole flavor.

Special Day

This vape has an ‘ice cream’ flavor to it, along with a sort of candy flavor that I can best describe as being like those vitamins that you would chew as kids. It’s an odd flavor that is a little heavy on the ice cream notes but I like it for the candy flavor. Because of the heavy cream I can’t vape on this for prolonged periods of time but it’s a good ‘here-and-there’ vape.

Zesty Cola

I don’t go out of my way to vape on ‘cola’ flavors but Puffmi’s iteration of this flavor is excellent. It has the ‘fizz’ that I expect from a cola flavor, along with a natural cola taste and a bit of a punchy throat hit. This is as close to an authentic cola flavor as they come and, even though I’m not personally crazy about it, I know that drink flavor vapers will like it.

Cool Mint

This mint flavor isn’t too strong with the cooling and balances a nice sweet flavor with the menthol. It leaves your mouth feeling cool and refreshed but doesn’t give me a brain freeze. The sweet component of this flavor is nicely done and perfectly balanced with the cooling. This is just a great mint flavor for vapers who like a sweet mint that isn’t going to freeze your mouth out.

Grape Honeydew Melon

Grape Honeydew Melon is my favorite DURA 9000 flavors for a couple of reasons. The first is that it’s a natural sweetness that you can vape on all day long without it being sickening. The second is that the honeydew flavor is one of the best and most authentic fruit flavors that I’ve vaped. Honeydew is at the helm of this flavor, with the grape flavor being a nice addition that is weaker in comparison. I don’t taste the grape as much as I taste some notes of it, which strengthen and add to the honeydew flavor.

How do they vape?

Puffmi’s DURA 9000 disposables have good specifications and features but how does that translate into real world usage? In my time with these devices, I haven’t had much to complain about and that’s the truth. They’ve been reliable throughout my testing, with no hiccups or problems with any of them.

The vaping experience is great. Each one delivers a tight MTL draw that, although I could have done with it being a bit looser, provides a nice draw with good and full flavor. I think that the draw may be a bit tighter than some vapers will like though as it’s a very tight draw and it does require a bit of lung strength to get them going.

The flavors that I tried are well done and seem to be expertly crafted. I believe Puffmi’s statement that they had local testing and flavorists refining the flavors because they taste like they were tested and tweaked to perfection. After the amount of devices and disposables that I’ve tried, it’s easy to tell when a flavor has just been thrown together, but that’s not the case with the flavor lineup for the DURA 9000.

The 5% nicotine strength devices that I’ve been using are strong and really give you a heavy draw. This makes them perfect for heavy vapers that are used to high-nicotine devices/eliquids but for anyone else, I recommend going with the 20mg/ml strength. Even for me, someone who is used to vaping higher-strengths, I found these to be powerful. The mesh coil inside of these does a great job of providing warm vapor and the full flavor of the eliquid inside.

The eliquid and battery life indicators have been seemingly accurate during my use and consistent across the different flavor devices. What I mean by this is that the ones that I used more (Grape Honeydew Melon for example) ticked down the battery life and ejuice indicators faster than the ones that I used less (Special Day). Expect to vape 400-500 puffs per charge and to be able to recharge these 18+ times before the ejuice is used up.

Verdict

I have to give a big nod of approval to the Puffmi DURA 9000. There’s 20ml of ejuice inside of each one and they’re not much larger than other ‘standard’ disposables with 5000 puffs. Being able to get 9000 puffs from a single device is a big deal, especially when you don’t need to carry around a bag just to take it with you.

The display screen is accurate and makes keeping track of your battery life and ejuice levels a breeze. There’s nothing worse than your vape dying on you while you’re out, so these give you a way to avoid that from happening. 

In addition, you can keep an eye on when you need to purchase a new disposable. Now, while the indicators are nothing new for disposables (there are other devices that have them) I think that the way Puffmi integrated it into the DURA 9000 is a winner. It’s aesthetically pleasing, accurate, and easy to see at a glance where your levels are sitting.

Flavors are always a big part of any disposable, and the DURA 9000 has some great options. Of the flavors that I tried, I would recommend them all. There are 19 other flavors available so there are definitely ones that are hidden gems; if these five flavors were good then I can’t imagine that their other ones are any worse, especially when they’ve been refined by flavorists and tested by real vapers.
