Our Verdict

If you’re looking for a new 510 battery then the TIK10 is a great option. It’s very small and it has  a number of features that make it great for all sorts of cartridges and users. The 15s preheat provides thick vapor from the first draw and makes the first puff on thick oils/concentrates super smooth. The four voltage levels are also great because those looking for flavor and milder effects can use the lower voltage levels, while those looking for more intense effects (or those using thicker oils) can use the higher voltage levels.

The TIK10 is a 510 battery that I’m going to continue to use with my cartridges and I highly recommend checking it out.

DOTECO is a company based in Shenzhen, China and they primarily produce 510 batteries for CBD and THC cartridges. While they’ve only been around as a company since 2020, they have been involved in the vape industry for 8 years, including 4 years of production experience with dry herb vaporizers. While you may not know DOTECO by name, they’ve supplied and manufactured devices for over 30 famous vape brands.

According to their website, DOTECO aims to be the world’s largest vaporizer battery manufacturer and they place a strong emphasis on innovation and quality assurance. They do this by putting quality first, and ensuring that all of their batteries and PCB boards pass quality control testing.

Today I’m reviewing DOTECO’s latest 510 battery, the TIK10. It’s a very small device that features a spring-loaded 510 threaded connection that is compatible with all 510 threaded cartridges. The TIK10 features 4 voltage levels, as well as a 15 second preheat mode. It has a 400mAh built-in battery and recharges using Type-C charging.

If you’re a consumer looking for a new 510 battery, or even a company looking to have DOTECO manufacture these with your company branding, should you consider the TIK10?

The TIK10 is tiny. It’s only 51mm tall, 20mm deep, and 20mm wide which makes it shorter than my thumb. It’s absolutely one of the smallest 510 thread batteries that I’ve come across. I can’t help but think of the word “cute” every time I see it because that’s what it is; a small and cute battery.

As you would expect from the small size, it’s also very light, but it doesn’t feel cheap or hollow and holding it doesn’t produce any flex. It’s a well made device and, despite the lightweight, you can feel that it’s solid when you hold it in your hands.

From a top-down view, the body is a triangle shape with rounded sides and edges. For as small of a device as it is, the TIK10 is comfortable to hold when thumb-firing and I don’t need to scrunch my hands to get a grip on it. The body has a soft-touch paint that also feels great and it has not faded or worn out at all during the time that I’ve been using it.

At the top of the TIK10 there’s a lanyard anchor spot. You also get a braided lanyard in the box. The lanyard isn’t big enough to fit around my neck but it’s more meant to be hung off your wrist or maybe attached to a bag. I didn’t use the lanyard but considering the small size of the device, it’s probably a good idea to hang it on your wrist so that it doesn’t get lost.

The TIK10 has a spring-loaded, 510 thread connection. The plate sits slightly above the top of the device and there are 4 cutouts in the connector. This design creates airflow holes when you fully screw down your cartridge, which is necessary for your cartridge to function properly.

On the front of the TIK10 there is a single fire button and 4 LEDs. The fire button is finished in the same soft-touch coating as the rest of the battery and it makes a satisfying and audible click when pressed. There’s no draw activation so you have to use the button to vape. The button feels solid, but on one of my units it rotates slightly. This is more of a visual annoyance than anything, but I would have liked the button to remain straight without any play.

The four LEDs on the front of the TIK10 are for the voltage level. From the bottom up, these are green (2.7V), blue (3.2V), yellow (3.7V), and red (4.2V). The voltage level can be changed by pressing the power button 3 times.

The TIK10 also has a 15 second preheat mode and the LEDs will light up from top to bottom while the preheat is active. You can activate the preheat mode by pressing the fire button 2 times.

The TIK10 has an auto shutoff feature to conserve battery. After 12 minutes of inactivity the TIK10 will turn off.

Performance

DOT TIK10 510 Battery 5

For this review, I used the TIK10 with both CBD vape cartridges and THC vape cartridges and I really liked the experience with both. The TIK10 is ultra simple to use and that’s a factor that I took into consideration when writing this performance review.

Sometimes you just want to vape on a cartridge and nothing else, and with the TIK10 that’s easy to do. You can easily use any 510 threaded cartridge by screwing it onto the 510 plate and from there it’s 5 clicks on the fire button to turn it on. Clicking the fire button twice will activate preheat mode and I tended to use this every time I vaped because it makes the vapor dense from the first draw. It also makes thick oils and distillates ready to vape without having to take a couple draws to get them going.

One complaint I have is about the auto shut off feature. It’s useful for conserving battery life, sure, but having to turn it back on multiple times a day was a bit inconvenient. I would like to see DOTECO add a way to disable the auto shutoff feature but it’s not that big of a deal.

The four power levels on the TIK10 are great. The two lowest levels (2.7V and 3.2V) are perfect for low intensity sessions and flavor, while the two higher settings (3.7V and 4.2V) are better for thicker concentrates and dense vapor. There’s enough variety in the power levels that you can find the level that provides the right level of vapor density for you and really get the most out of your cartridges.

Lastly, I do want to mention the safety features that are built into the TIK10. It has short circuit protection, over time protection (10s), and low power protection. These are good features to have, especially the over time protection for those times when you’re accidentally pressing the button while it’s in your pocket.

    • Hi Von!

I’ve done a bit of research and I can’t find any info on this. I’m thinking that it might be a short; have you tried using another cartridge?
