Our Verdict

The Hyppe Max Air 5000’s are solid disposable devices. The pod-vape-like design is attractive and the rubber mouthpiece and contour are unique and very cool. The performance is at a high level for a disposable, with good flavor, warm vapor, a nice loose MTL draw, as well as great flavors to choose from. The battery lasts for a while on a single charge, and it can be recharged quickly as well.

This disposable isn’t without its faults, but these cons come down to the design and not to the actual performance. The rubber mouthpiece picks up lint and dust, the airflow hole can be blocked off if you’re not careful, and the LED light is very, very bright. Nothing that really affects the performance, but they are cons nonetheless.

Overall, I think that Hyppe’s Max Air 5000’s disposables are excellent disposable vapes and I can confidently recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a new disposable.

Hyppe products have become nearly synonymous with disposable vapes. Hyppe’s disposables have long been some of the most popular disposable devices in Europe and the U.S.A., and even many non-vapers will know what they are.

One of Hyppe’s latest products is their Hyppe Max Air 5000. It’s a pod-vape-esque disposable that comes prefilled with 13ml of ejuice, and which uses a mesh coil for heating. It’s available in 10 different flavors and in 50mg nicotine salt strength. The 650mAh battery is rechargeable with Type-C charging, and the overall lifetime of the device is rated for 5000 puffs.

With so many disposable vapes available (and I mean so many), does the Hyppe Max Air 5000 stand out from the crowd? You’ll find out in this review.

Design & Build Quality

  • Hyppe Max Air 5000 Review - 7

The Hyppe Max Air 5000 (boy, is that a mouthful) sports an interesting, cool, and unique design for a disposable vape. Rather than being a long bar or cube like typical disposables, the Max Air 5000 has a design that is more of what you would expect from a pod vape. It’s a small rectangle with rounded edges and it’s about the size of a small pod vape at 83.53mm tall, 48.91mm wide, and 17mm thick. When I hold it in my hand I feel like I’m holding a pod vape and not a disposable, as it also has a fair amount of weight to it too.

With the size and weight, I found it uncomfortable to carry  more than one at a time in my pocket. But you can also wear these around your neck because each one comes with a lanyard attached. It isn’t heavy enough to put any real strain on my neck and it’s comfortable to wear one of these around my neck for extended periods of time. I’ve actually walked around with the lanyard on and totally forgot that it was even there.

This brings me to the other unique design point of the Max Air 5000, which is something that I have not seen on another disposable. Instead of a plastic mouthpiece, these have a rubber mouthpiece. The rubber from the mouthpiece extends and contours around the sides and bottom of each device. The lanyard anchor point is also on this rubber contour, so this is how the lanyard attaches.

Hyppe Max Air 5000 Review - 6

I find that the rubber mouthpiece is more comfortable than a solid plastic mouthpiece because it has a bit of flex to it, but it’s still firm enough that it doesn’t just flop around. The rubber contour is also neat because it adds a little extra grip to the device and also adds a cool design element. The color of the rubber corresponds to the flavor of the device. For example, “Strawberry Sky” has a reddish-pink rubber mouthpiece and contour, while “Mango Ice” has an orange rubber mouthpiece and contour. A Type-C charging port is also located within this rubber strip, on the side of the Hyppe Max Air 5000. The airflow intake is also located within this rubber strip, on the bottom.

While I like the look of the rubber mouthpiece, it’s not without its drawbacks. The biggest con is that it picks up lint and dust from my pocket. This can be mostly eliminated if you wear it around your neck with the lanyard, but not everyone is going to want to do that. The lanyard is also a bright green color, no matter which flavor you get, so it won’t be to everyone’s style or preference.

I’ve pulled these out of my pocket a few times and gotten a mouth full of lint and dust, which is quite frankly disgusting. Maybe I just need to clean my pockets better, but the point remains that the rubber mouthpiece attracts lint and dust, which then will go into your mouth.

The rest of the device sports a smooth plastic shell, and all of the flavors come with a white shell. At the top, there is a HYPPE logo, along with MAX AIR 5000. Just below this branding you will find the flavor printed.

Near the bottom of each side there are little triangular cutouts which kind of fade away as it reaches the middle of the device. On the front side, these triangle cutouts allow the blue LED light to shine through each time that you take a puff. During the day, it’s not too much of an issue but it’s bright. But at night or in darkly lit situations, you’re going to be lighting up the entire room. This LED is bright. If you’re vaping a few puffs before bed and all of your lights are off (like I like to do), you’ll nearly blind yourself with this LED. I’m not joking, it’s really bright.

Flavors

Hyppe Max Air 5000 Review - 3

There are 10 flavors available for the Hyppe Max Air 5000’s. The majority of the flavors are fruit flavors and fruits mixed with menthol, but they also have an unflavored minty one called “Naked”. There is also a straight mint flavor, and a dessert flavor called “Caramel Ice Cream”.

The full list of available flavors is:

  • Naked
  • Mango Freeze
  • Caramel Ice Cream
  • Strawberry Sky
  • Strawberry Freeze
  • Mighty Mint
  • Lush Freeze
  • Sour Peach
  • Summer Fruit
  • Black Sakura

I’m going to describe how a few of these flavors taste to me, and what I think of them. Keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it, and vice-versa. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Summer Fruit

I couldn’t find a description of this flavor online, so I’m not sure exactly which fruits are supposed to be in this mix. However, I can taste a strong mango flavor and maybe strawberry and pineapple as well. It’s a fruity mix and even though I can’t put my finger on the exact flavors, it’s enjoyable to vape on and it tastes great. It’s a touch sweet, but still very nice.

Naked

This is Hyppe’s unflavored disposable and it’s exactly that — unflavored but with a very strong menthol kick. Super icy and cold, but it almost has a cough medicine aftertaste that I’m not too fond of.

Black Sakura

Black Sakura is a flavor inspired by Japanese black tea. It has a taste that is reminiscent of grapes, with a floral sweetness to it. Although I’ve never tried black sakura tea, this quickly became one of my favorite flavors due to how unique it is. The floral notes are really nice and I really enjoyed this flavor.

Sour Peach

Sour Peach rings anyone? This is like taking sour peach candies and turning them into  a vape flavor. Not quite as sour as the candy, but the sweet flavor and overall taste are there. I like candied peach flavors and this one is definitely in my top 10.

Strawberry Sky

This is a mild strawberries and cream flavor, with strawberry being the main attraction. The strawberry flavor is mild and not over-sweet, and the cream really adds to the flavor with a mild sweetness that brings it nicely together. It tastes similar to a not-so-sweet strawberry milkshake. Very good flavor.

How do they perform?

Hyppe Max Air 5000 Review - 1

To recap the technical specifications for you, these come prefilled with 13ml of ejuice and have a 650mAh battery. Together, this makes these disposables good for up to 5000 puffs. They also use a mesh coil to heat up the ejuice inside. As of the writing of this review, Hyppe Max Air 5000 disposables only come in 50mg/ml nicotine salt strength.

The draw that I get from these is a loose mouth to lung, with warm vapor and a respectable amount of vapor production. Since the airflow is located on the bottom of the device, you have to be careful how you hold them or you can inadvertently block the airflow. I’ve done this a couple of times and, while it’s a bit of an inconvenient position, it’s not make or break for the use of these disposables.

The overall flavor is really good and I get ‘wet’ vapor that settles on my tongue. The flavor settles and lingers in your mouth after taking a draw and I know not everyone likes this type of draw, so keep this in mind if you are considering purchasing these.

The battery seems to last for a few hundred puffs or so before dying out and needing a recharge. Charging doesn’t take too long and these will recharge to full battery in around 40 minutes. They can be vaped while they charge too, so downtime with these is minimal.

None of my Max Air 5000’s have leaked or spit back while I’ve been using them, so that’s definitely a plus. The draw activation also works great and has not given me any problems or issues on any of my review units.

Verdict

  • Battery needs some work. After plugging it in for the first time you can feel the pull weaken and it starts glitching out. I know it’s a battery problem because it doesn’t happen to every vape. Just most of them. I went back to elf bars because of it.

  • There’s something wrong with them. I’ve been trying to contact the company to no avail. Mine turned on by itself. It was sitting on my counter. It got extremely hot, all the juice started to pour out. I couldn’t get it to shut off. I even plugged it into the charger to see if I could to the switch, and it didn’t work. I ended up having to throw it in a bucket outside for fear of it catching fire.
To bad, I really liked this vape. It was as good tasting as the Elfbars. Hope someone can contact the company.

  • Every time I charge mine it tastes like it’s burnt and for the rest of the time the taste of burnt vape doesn’t go away. I’ve had to throw it away every time I bought one which was 6 times. I just got another one and I charged it and it wasn’t burnt but I’m afraid the next charge will be like the rest.

    • Nope, they don’t come with a charger so you did not throw it away. They’ll charge with pretty much any Type-C cable and block though!
