The bottom line

I really like the OXPOD Elite as a good beginner, transition-from-disposables, handy and portable, sort of vape. The 8ml pod capacity is by far the best feature because who wants to be refilling the pod all the time? I like that you can fill it and forget about it for a couple of days and the refilling and charging nearly coincide, so you can just fill it while it’s recharging.

I’m disappointed that it only comes with one pod but that pod is versatile. It does well with different nicotine strengths and it’s great for mouth to lung vaping. In my case, it also lasts for 20ml of ejuice so that’s a nice amount of vaping that you can get out of it too.

The battery indicator would be more clear with a percentage readout, or even just some information in the manual about what the different bars mean. I’m also not too crazy about the deep fill port which can be a pain to fill, or the hour and a half charging time.

But all things considered, these are minor issues that are overshadowed by the other great features and performance that it offers. Beginners or those who are only used to disposable vapes are the target audience but even a seasoned vaper like myself got some good use out of it.

The OXPOD Elite is OXBAR’s first pod system but it’s far from their first device. It’s another collaboration with Pod Juice, which can only mean good things.

OXBAR & Pod Juice are responsible for some of the best disposable vapes that we’ve ever tried, those being the Magic Maze and Magic Maze 2. This being said, they know their stuff when it comes to disposables.

The OXPOD Elite is a pod vape that looks like it could be a good alternative to disposables. It’s small and portable and has an 8ml ejuice capacity for less refills. It also has adjustable wattage up to 30W, adjustable airflow, and a 1300mAh battery that recharges with Type-C charging.

While this is OXBAR’s first true pod device, it’s not their first refillable device. In early 2023, OXBAR released a pod-like device called the RRD that could be refilled and recharged but the pod was not replaceable.

Now, nearly two years later, the OXPOD Elite is the true definition of a pod vape with its replaceable and refillable pods. It seems to address all of the problems that we had with the RRD but how is the flavor and performance, and how is the battery? I’ve used it for two weeks to find out.

These disposables were sent to me by OXBAR for the purpose of this review. However, this does not in any way affect my thoughts, opinions, or ratings in this review.

Design & Build Quality

  • OXBAR OXPOD Elite - 1

The OXPOD Elite is really clean and neat. It’s a simple device with very little going on in the way of design and this makes it very discreet and under-the-radar. At least that’s the case with the ‘Grey’ color that I’m using for this review.

All of the colors have leather panels on the front and back which are wrapped by a sleek aluminum alloy frame. Most of the colors have plain leather panels with no designs on them and these are the ones I prefer the look of the most. But there are a few colors (Mech Red, White Crocodile, and Meteor Shower) which have designs/patterns on the leather if you’re after a design that is a bit more out there.

On my Grey colored device, OXBAR is imprinted into the leather on the front and POD JUICE is imprinted on the back. There’s also a small OXPOD ELITE logo on the back as well. Overall, the leather is soft and supple; really high quality for an inexpensive pod vape.

I really like how small this device is. With the pod inserted it’s only 90mm tall, 42.5mm wide and 17mm deep. It’s absolutely tiny for having an 8ml pod capacity and a 1300mAh battery. Most devices with these specs are much larger so it’s really impressive that OXBAR managed to keep the OXPOD Elite this small.

The pod, which I already mentioned has an absolutely massive capacity, attaches magnetically to the device. The pod contents remain fully visible when inserted into the device so it’s really easy to keep track of how much ejuice you have left. The pod is tinted though, which makes it a little difficult to see into the pod without a light source, but it’s manageable.

The screen on the side of the OXPOD Elite is small, but bright and clear. There’s a single round button just below it which is used to change the wattage and it’s very tactile and responsive.

The other side of the Elite has an airflow control slider which can be used to adjust the draw from mouth-to-lung to a tight mouth-to-lung. It’s a simple round knob with three small airflow slots for airflow; it’s basically identical to the airflow slider found on many OXVA devices. The slider has a good amount of resistance and stays where it is set to, so the chances of it changing accidentally are unlikely.

Pods

OXBAR OXPOD Elite - 14

The OXPOD Elite only comes with one pod in the box. This is a 0.8Ω pod with an 8ml ejuice capacity. At the moment, this looks like it’s the only pod that is available for the OXPOD Elite.

Luckily for us, a 0.8Ω resistance is perfect for MTL vaping and it’s a high enough resistance that it can also be used with all strengths of nicotine ejuices; just lower the wattage a bit for higher strengths and increase the wattage for lower strengths.

The fill port is on the bottom of the pod, which means that you have to remove the pod in order to fill. The rubber stopper for the fill port is very deep and the fill hole is even deeper. The fill hole is also covered by a silicone membrane that you have to press through with your nozzle.

All of this is great for leak-prevention but not so great for filling. My nozzle tips on my 30ml bottles barely reached through the fill hole and I had to really press down to make sure that the tip went through.

Filling was especially a problem the first time that I tried to fill the pod. I didn’t fully press the tip through the membrane and ended up with my ejuice not making it into the pod and instead spilling out of the fill cavity. What a mess.

Features

OXBAR OXPOD Elite - 8

The simplicity of the OXPOD Elite is what will make it so appealing to vapers. Beginner vapers will likely find the most value out of this simplicity, but so will disposable vapers who are looking to transition to a more economical way of vaping.

The 8ml pod capacity on the OXPOD Elite is going to be one of its strongest selling-points. You can fill it once and forget about it for days. This isn’t something that you can say about most pod vapes with their 2-3ml pods.

The adjustability is also great without being overwhelming or overcomplicated. The wattage can be adjusted from 5-30W pretty easily by clicking the buttons three times and then clicking or holding the button to adjust it. The included 0.8Ω pod is limited to a maximum wattage of 22W but, presumably, future pods will allow for the full 30W wattage output.

You can also lock the device, which includes drawing to vape, by holding the button for a few seconds when you’re not adjusting the wattage. Unlocking is achieved in the same way.

The screen shows your wattage output, a 4-bar battery indicator, and a breathing LED light. The breathing LED light is a bit of a mystery for me because it always lights up blue and doesn’t appear to serve any real function other than lighting up when you draw. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong. If it glowed different colors to show battery life then this might be a different story.

Battery life & Charging

OXBAR OXPOD Elite - 10

In addition to the large 8ml pod capacity, the OXPOD Elite also has a huge 1300mAh battery. Considering the small size of the device, it’s more battery capacity than I expected and it has also exceeded my expectations for longevity.

The battery life indicator isn’t the most clear, especially since there’s no percentage. It’s four bars: two green, one orange, and one red.

I can’t find any information on what each bar represents but I don’t think they’re equal. For the most of my time vaping, it seemed to be on the second green bar before dropping to the orange and then the red pretty quickly. I’m guessing that orange is 30% or less and red is 10% or less, but don’t quote me.

Vaping at 20-22W, I’ve been vaping just over a full pod per charge, which is crazy. 8ml of ejuice on one charge is really great, especially since this was over a few days of use.

Keep in mind that I was vaping at the upper limit of the wattage range for this pod so you could get even better battery life by vaping at lower wattages.

Charging takes a little less than an hour and a half when plugged into a wall charger. The OXPOD Elite has pass-thru charging so it can be used while it charges.

Performance

OXBAR OXPOD Elite - 15

I’m on my fourth refill with the OXPOD Elite, although not with the same pod, so I have a good idea of the performance. My thoughts are mostly positive because the Elite has been a really good day-to-day pod vape thanks to the large pod capacity, flavor, and good battery life.

I used the first pod for three refills but started noticing a drop off in flavor about halfway during my third refill. These are 8ml pods though, not 2ml pods, so I think that they last for a pretty long time. A pod lasting for 20ml of ejuice is a lot of vaping, particularly if you don’t vape very heavily.

Up until that point, the flavor was really good and definitely better than I expected for a ‘transition-from-disposables’ sort of vape. I think most vapers will appreciate the flavor that it provides, although I can’t say that it’s as ‘wet’ or bold as a disposable vape. No pod vape is going to give that experience but compared to other pod vapes, the flavor is still up there for me.

The airflow adjustment is nice to have in order to set the draw more to my liking. It’s still a mouth-to-lung draw even when wide open. It gets tighter as the airflow is closed down and I usually keep it somewhere around midway for a semi-tight MTL.

There’s a bit of whistling as you close down the airflow but it didn’t bother me too much. The airflow still feels smooth but I can hear the whistling when I draw. It doesn’t affect the vape but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re particular about that sort of thing.
