The bottom line

Oxbar and Pod Juice have hit the mark with this device. The Magic Maze 2 is a great device that performs exceptionally well for a disposable. The wattage range of 12-28W, along with the dual airflow options of MTL and RDL really gives vapers one of the most customizable and adjustable vaping experiences that you can get from a disposable.

The display screen on the Magic Maze 2 is absolutely gorgeous and a huge upgrade from its predecessor. You can easily and quickly check your ejuice and battery levels as a percentage. The wattage is also clearly visible and with a quick press of the button you can easily switch between the wattage settings. All of these upgrades add to a positive user experience.

As the Magic Maze 2 is filled with Pod Juice eliquid, you’d expect to get really great flavor and that’s exactly the case with this device. The flavor range may not be the most complete as it consists of mostly fruit flavors, but all of the flavors that I tried are really tasty and make me want to continue using these devices.

With the Magic Maze 2 you can expect an easy to use device that is customizable, user-friendly, and which comes with a high puff count and great battery life. For $16, you’ll absolutely get your money’s worth from this device. Highly recommended.

Oxbar is the disposable brand of the well-known vape company, OXVA. In 2023, OXBAR made a big splash in the disposable vaping world with the release of their Magic Maze Pro, the first disposable vape with adjustable wattage.

Their latest device, the Magic Maze 2, is their second collaboration with Pod Juice, a well-known ejuice brand. It brings some very exciting changes from the original Magic Maze Pro, the most noteworthy of which is the 6 wattage settings that range from 12W all the way up to 28W. The large display screen is another big upgrade that shows battery and ejuice levels more accurately.

Each Magic Maze 2 offers up to 30,000 puffs when used in the regular modes and 15,000 puffs when used in the boost modes. To handle this high number of puffs, each device comes with Unione dual mesh coils that provide excellent flavor right to the end of the device.

The battery capacity of the Magic Maze 2 is something worth mentioning as each one packs a 900mAh battery that will get you a couple days of vaping without needing a recharge. When it comes time to charge, the Magic Maze 2 is rechargeable with Type-C charging.

Does the Magic Maze 2 come with enough upgrades to warrant a switch? Read on to find out.

These disposables were sent to me directly by OXBAR for the purpose of this review. However, this does not affect my thoughts or opinions in any way.

Design & Build Quality

  • OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 2

The Magic Maze 2 is essentially the exact same size and shape as the original. However, the overall design of the device has changed quite a bit. It’s still quite boxy and large, measuring at 90mm tall, 50mm wide and 23 mm thick. But one massive difference is the amount of puffs that the Magic Maze 2 offers; 30,000 puffs on regular mode and 15,000 puffs on the boost mode.

There is a noticeable difference to the weight of the new Magic Maze 2. It comes in at 91g which is a huge jump from the 74g weight of the Magic Maze Pro, which I thought was already quite heavy.

Considering the size and weight of these devices, I would suggest using these solo while on the go. If you carry more than one at a time it may get bulky.

OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 3

The design of the Magic Maze 2 is stunning in my opinion and a nice change from the previous version. While there is still a lot going on, the placement of logos and wording on the new device looks a lot more clean.

The Magic Maze 2 is essentially two-thirds “metal” painted plastic and one-third clear plastic. The clear plastic encases the display screen which accurately shows the ejuice and battery levels to the percentage. The plastic case comes up to a point and makes a lanyard anchor. At the top of the display screen there is the adjustable wattage button.

When looking from the front of the device, there is the Magic Maze 2 logo and to the right of that is a tall blue LED that lights up when you take a draw

  • OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 4

The metal portion of the device features checkerboard embossing, a design aspect that has been passed on from the original. Most of the logos and writing is on this side of the device as well. The front of the device has the OXBAR and Pod Juice logos near the top, with the words Zodiac Edition printed in the center of the device above the checkerboard.

The side of the device contains the flavor name, with the back of the device featuring a constellation and zodiac sign printed below the checkerboard.

The mouthpiece is excellent to use and the duck-billed shape will be welcome by most vapers. The wide hole in the mouthpiece makes it easy to clean out any lint or dirt that may get trapped in there.

Finally on the bottom of the device there is the adjustable airflow slider and the Type-C charging port. The slider is firm and moves easily but will stay in place without any wiggle.

Features

OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 13

The Magic Maze 2 has all the features that one can possibly want or need with a disposable device. It features adjustable airflow, which is not that groundbreaking, but the adjustable wattage is interesting because it offers a wider wattage range than other disposables on the market. In total there are 6 different wattage levels that can be set. They range from 12W all the way up to 28W, making the Magic Maze 2 the highest wattage disposable available on the market right now.

6 Wattage Settings

  • Regular Mode: 12W, 14W, 16W
  • Boost Mode: 24W, 26W, 28W

The wattage can be easily changed with a click of the power button. Press the button one time to change the wattage. The available options are 12, 14, 16, 24, 26 and 28W. You can round robin until you reach your desired wattage.

One of the most impressive things that the Magic Maze 2 has to offer is its high puff count. When using the lower wattage settings (12-16W in regular mode) you can expect to reach around 30,000 puffs. If you use the higher wattage settings (between 24-28W) this is “Boost mode” and will cut down the expected puffs by half, to around 15,000 puffs.

The display screen is very crisp and clear and shows all the necessary information at a glance. At the top is the battery level percentage with a lightning symbol for power. Below that, and in the middle of the screen, is the wattage setting. When in higher wattages, 24-28W, the boost symbol will illuminate on the screen. Below that is a water droplet symbol for the ejuice level and the ejuice percentage below that.

The airflow slider is the exact same as the one on the original Magic Maze Pro, but as the saying goes “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. The airflow adjustment was excellent on the previous version of the Magic Maze and it works just as well here. The airflow adjustment allows you to set the device to either a RDL draw or a tight MTL draw. The slider is stiff enough that it allows for fine adjustments for you to get it to the perfect airflow.

  • OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 11

The Magic Maze 2 comes with a child lock which can be activated by pressing and holding the button for 6 seconds. Their website states that it is 3 seconds but after much frustration and many tries later, I figured it out to be about 6 seconds. If you are having issues with this, press and hold the button until the lock symbol lights up, then your device is locked. To unlock, do the same thing until the lock symbol disappears.

The large 900mAh battery is able to keep up with heavy use for long periods of time. Personally, I averaged a couple of days of use before needing to recharge. This is on the 14-16W wattage settings, which is where I vaped for most of my time with the Magic Maze 2. If you use the higher, “Boost mode” wattage settings then you can expect shorter usage times.

Each Magic Maze 2 uses Unione dual mesh coils that work together simultaneously to get you the best flavor until your ejuice is depleted. At this, time Magic Maze 2 is only available in 50mg/ml nicotine strength.

Flavors

OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 1

When it comes to flavor options, the Magic Maze 2 has some good ones. Oxbar has once again collaborated with Pod Juice to brings another device with excellent flavors that last right to the end. Pod Juice is well known for their tasty and extensive lineup of ejuices and now you get those same great flavors, just with the convenience of a disposable.

The flavor options are really interesting and many of them caught my attention immediately. There seems to be a fruit and candy theme going on here, but there are also a bunch of ‘Clear’ flavors as well. Unfortunately, I was only sent one of these Clear flavors to try so I won’t be able to clarify how the others taste.

The fifteen available flavors are:

  • Big Melons
  • Blue Razz Cotton Clouds
  • Blue Slushy Ice
  • Clear Blue
  • Clear Emerald
  • Clear Green
  • Clear Jewel
  • Clear Pink
  • Clear Red
  • Fab Fcuks
  • Fruity Pebz
  • Jewel Mint
  • Juicy Bae Watermelon
  • Sour Apple Skits
  • Strawberry Lolly
  • Strawberry Watermelon Dragon Fruit
  • Wap Drops
  • Watermelon Skits
  • White Gummy Ice

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Strawberry Watermelon Dragon Fruit

The strawberry and dragon fruit flavors are the front runners here, with watermelon lingering subtly in the background. The strawberry and dragon fruit flavors last long after you exhale. It’s also not overly sweet making it an excellent all day vape in my opinion.

Clear Pink

Clear pink doesn’t really give me too much information based on the name alone. After trying this flavor it’s clearly a pink bubblegum flavor and it is absolutely delicious. It is a little on the sweet side and the flavor sticks around for a long time. This was one of my favorites that I was sent and I strongly suggest trying this flavor if you are a fan of candy flavors.

Jewel Mint

This Jewel Mint flavor is a blast of cool mint that freezes the mouth immediately upon inhaling. If you are a fan of a strong mint flavor this may be perfect for you. There is some sweetness from the winter fresh mint that settles on the tongue after you let out your draw.

Sour Apple Skitz

One of my favorite candies growing up were these guys so I was super excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the apple flavor is really powerful and takes over here. I wouldn’t say this tastes exactly like sour skittles but it does have a bit of a sour candy taste. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this flavor to be honest.

How do they vape?

OXBAR Magic Maze 2 - 15

The Magic Maze 2 is one of the most customizable disposables on the market. With the ability to adjust the wattage from 12-28W and being able to adjust the airflow for either MTL or RDL, the Magic Maze 2 really has a lot to offer.

Even on the lowest wattage of 12W the Magic Maze 2 delivers a powerful draw with warm vapor and excellent flavor. As you increase the wattage you can clearly tell that the device is responding with more vapor and a draw that gets stronger and more intense. I preferred to use this device in the higher ‘Regular mode’ settings (14-16W) for a good balance of flavor, vapor, and longevity.

Given that the Magic Maze 2 only comes in the 50mg/ml nicotine strength, you’ll want to be cautious of vaping at higher wattages so that you don’t get too much nicotine in a short period of time. Even if you’re used to 50mg/ml, the higher wattage outputs of the Magic Maze 2 are much higher than other 50mg/ml disposables, so definitely take it easy.

The performance of these devices is great but they wouldn’t be quite as good without the use of Pod Juice’s eliquid. This collaboration makes this device stand out amongst the rest and the flavors are really something that I noticed and enjoyed a lot.

Regardless of whether you prefer a MTL draw or RDL draw, the Magic Maze 2 offers both. The slider makes it extremely easy to adjust your draw to be exactly what you want from your device. Thanks to the slider being quite firm you can easily set the slider until the draw is perfect for you. For RDL, the airflow should be fully opened but may require you to leave your lips a little loose around the mouthpiece. For a MTL draw you’ll want to slide the slider to be almost completely closed.

Can these devices truly reach 30,000 puffs? I’m not completely sure as they don’t come with a puff counter and I haven’t really been keeping count. However, I have been using these for quite some time, over two weeks, trying to run one out completely and haven’t been able to achieve that yet. So considering the time that I have been using them and the fact that they are not depleted yet, I can at least say that they’re very long lasting. And at around $16, they’re a good value for what you get from each one.

Verdict
