VOOPOO’s ‘Argus’ series devices are quickly becoming some of my favorite pod vapes to use. There are just so many of them, each with their own pros and cons and different sets of features. Recently, my go-to has been the Argus G2 for when I’m wanting a bit more power out of my pod vape, but I also like the Argus P1s as a simple, back-up device.
But there’s another simple Argus pod vape that I’ve been using recently; the Argus G2 Mini. As the name suggests, this is a smaller and simpler device than the Argus G2. It uses VOOPOO’s new 3ml ARGUS ‘Top Fill’ cartridges which are claimed to offer leak resistance for 30 days as well as a lifespan of 90ml of e-liquid usage.
The G2 Mini has a 1200mAh battery, a stable wattage output, and airflow adjustment. It is compatible with all of VOOPOO’s ARGUS pods, including older ones.
Is the Argus G2 Mini a worthy choice over your current pod vape? I’ll tell you everything that you need to know in this review.

Design & Build Quality
This device might be called the G2 Mini but there’s not that much that is similar between it and the Argus G2. Other than the tall and slim rectangular shape and the fact that it uses the same pods, the G2 Mini is a completely different device. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though if you’re looking for a simpler device than the G2.
There’s no fancy screen, no LED bar lighting and no adjustable wattage to be found on the G2 Mini. What it does have is a nice slim shape that is light and comfortable in the hand. It’s 115mm tall, 25.6mm wide, and 13.4mm thick; more similar in dimensions to the original Argus G than to the thicker and taller Argus G2.
The G2 Mini comes in eight colors, two solid ones and six gradient ones. The matte metallic finish is nice but not too flashy and the quality of the finish is excellent. It’s a bit sleek and maybe a little bit slippery too but overall it’s a good quality paint finish.
On the front of the G2 Mini there is a small LED battery life indicator. There is also a green and blue LED on the bottom of the device which lights up each time that you take a draw. In dark rooms, this green/blue LED is very bright but it can be turned off by taking three quick puffs. Turning it back on is the same.
On the back of the G2 Mini is the airflow adjustment slider. The slider is firm and consists of a small round knob. When fully open, there’s a wide slot and a small airflow hole. Closing the airflow down reveals a single, smaller airflow hole.
Pods
One of the biggest selling points of the Argus G2 Mini is its pod compatibility. While the packaging only includes one 0.7Ω ARGUS Top Fill cartridge, the G2 Mini is compatible with all of VOOPOO’s other Argus pods. In total there are six pods available:
- 3ml, 0.7Ω ARGUS Top Fill Cartridge (New)
- 3ml, 0.4Ω ARGUS Top Fill Cartridge (New)
- 2ml, 0.7Ω ARGUS Top Fill Cartridge (New)
- 2ml, 0.4Ω ARGUS Top Fill Cartridge (New)
- 2ml, 0.7Ω ARGUS Pod Cartridge
- 2ml, 1.2Ω ARGUS Pod Cartridge
As you can see from the above list, the new Argus pods come in 0.7Ω and 0.4Ω resistances and each one is available with either a 3ml or 2ml capacity. If you live in a TPD country, you’ll receive the 2ml version with the G2 Mini. For everyone else, you’ll get the convenience of the larger 3ml pod.
Unlike the older Argus pods, these new pods are tinted. This makes it difficult to see your ejuice level and overall, it’s a step backwards for ease-of-use.
Another change is that these new pods fill from the side. While they may be called ‘Top-Fill’ cartridges, they aren’t top-filled in the way that you might be thinking. It’s a little confusing, but even though they’re filled from the side, the pod sits in the G2 Mini with the fill port exposed. They’re called ‘Top-Fill’ because the fill port sits above the battery, allowing you to fill without removing the pod.
VOOPOO also includes a helpful little card in the package with tips on how to make the most out of the pods for the G2 Mini:
Battery Life & Charging
I love, love, love the battery capacity on the G2 Mini. Because there’s no large screen or other fancy features to drain the battery, the 1200mAh capacity lasts for days with the 0.7Ω pod. With heavy vaping I’ve been averaging 3-4 days of use (this is also with the bottom LED lighting turned off). Excellent battery life from this device.
The small LED on the front of the G2 Mini will light up each time that you take a draw. If the LED is white, the battery is above 15%. If the light is red, the battery is under 15%. While a three-color LED indicator would have been ideal, the 15% warning gives just enough of a head-up to reach a charger before the battery is completely dead.
The G2 Mini uses 1A Type-C charging and so charging speeds are a bit slow. I timed a few full charges and all of them took about an hour and 15 minutes to complete.
Performance
I very recently reviewed the Argus G2 so the performance is still fresh in my mind and the G2 Mini is nearly the same experience, minus having to worry about adjusting the wattage output. Since it uses the same exact pod that you get with the Argus G2, and the maximum wattage output is the same at 30W, this didn’t surprise me either.
The 0.7Ω pod allows you to vape either RDL or MTL depending on how you adjust the airflow. Leaving the airflow all the way open gets me a nice restricted-direct-lung draw, while closing it down all the way delivers a tight MTL draw.
I found that both nicotine salt and freebase ejuices work well with the G2 Mini, but I got the best experience with mid-strength (20-30mg/ml) nicotine salts. This is because the 0.7Ω pod isn’t quite low enough of a resistance to give me the kick that I desired from my low-strength freebase ejuices. On the other hand, it’s just perfect for medium-strength nicotine salts and delivers a great throat hit. Flavor from this pod and the G2 Mini is also really good and doesn’t leave a lot to be desired.
The constant wattage output was immediately noticeable for me because even when the battery reached under 15%, the draw remained the same.
After using the 0.7Ω pod for two weeks and refilling it over 10 times (30ml+ of ejuice), I haven’t had any leaking. The pod is also still going strong in terms of flavor and wicking capabilities with no burnt or weird taste to speak of. Although I haven’t been able to go through the 90ml of ejuice that VOOPOO claims the pod can handle, 30ml is still very, very good.
Verdict
The Argus G2 Mini is the perfect beginner-friendly alternative to VOOPOO’s Argus G2. You get all of the benefits of the new 3ml top-fill Argus cartridges including great flavor, leak-resistance, and longevity. The compatibility of the G2 Mini with all of VOOPOO’s Argus pods, both new and old, is another great feature because there are all sorts of resistances to choose from.
If you’re not a big fan of fancy LED screens on your pod vape and you just want a device that delivers where it counts (battery life, flavor, pod life, leak resistance), the G2 Mini is one of the best options out there.
