Puffmi Rock 12000 Disposables Review: Do They Rock?

Puffmi’s Rock 12000 looks very similar to the Dura 9000 in terms of the materials used and the shape and style of the device. The Rock 12000 is more boxy than the Dura 9000, yet remains very portable. However, unlike the Dura 9000, these are not quite as wide and therefore are a lot easier to conceal, even in smaller hands. This smaller shape and rounded edges makes it really comfortable to hold.

Each Rock 12000 device is 83mm tall (including the mouthpiece), 48mm wide and only 22mm deep. These little guys have some weight though, coming in at 70g. Considering they hold 16ml of ejuice, the Rock 12000 is quite small and extremely portable, making for a great on-the-go device.

The body is made of a soft touch plastic that mimics a metal look and it’s very believable. I don’t want to admit how many times I tapped on the device to ensure that it was actually plastic and not metal. The material and texture have a matte paint look that shimmers when the light hits it. It’s a really nice finish and it’s proven to be pretty durable too.

The front panel features a large Puffmi logo on the left side, while the right side features the flavor printed on a square box, as well as the device name “Rock 12000” just below. All of these words, along with designs, are raised and help to give the device some grip. The back panel features a sole Puffmi “P” eye logo etched in the material.

There is a thick bezel that wraps around the entire device and, from what I can see, it is connected to the front and back panels and is raised for added grip and aesthetics. Looking at the device closely, it looks like the body is made of one piece of material. This probably isn’t the case because they have to fit the components in there somehow, but it’s a testament to how good the build quality is when you can’t even see where the different parts meet.

Each Rock 12000 is entirely one color that corresponds to the flavor inside. For example, Ruby Red Grapefruit is an entirely red device, whereas the Cool Mint is blue. There are only 10 colors matched to 20 flavors though so there is some overlap, with two different flavors for each color.

The mouthpiece is made of a colored clear plastic that matches the color of the body of the device. The mouthpiece is quite small compared to other disposables I have used but I had no issues with it. If you are someone who likes a larger mouthpiece, the Rock 12000 does not have that.

Located on the front panel, on the bottom right side, is the LED screen that displays the ejuice and battery levels. There is a separate level for each, with the ejuice level icon lighting up in a purple color and the battery icon lighting up in green. Each one features dashed lines in a hexagonal shape that illuminate with each draw. The lights are bright enough to track your levels without being blinded in the dark. 

Finally, we get to the Type-C charging port which is located on the bottom of the device right next to the airflow inlet holes. This does mean that you have to lay down the device to charge.

Features

The Puffmi Rock 12000 is a pretty user-friendly device that requires no maintenance (besides charging) and has little when it comes to features. However, it does have the most important feature that can come with a disposable (in my opinion) – ejuice and battery level indicators.

With each puff, the display will light up to show you the two different symbols: a water droplet with dashes shaped in a hexagon for the ejuice level and a lightning bolt with dashes shaped in a hexagon around for the battery level.

The ejuice level lights up purple, while the battery level lights up green. The lights are not too bright that they are blinding but are definitely bright enough for the average user to have no issues seeing them, even outdoors in direct sunlight.

Since the levels light up in a hexagon shape consisting of 6 separate dashes, it’s not intuitive to figure out the percentage of ejuice or battery that you have left at a glance. If you do the math though, each dash is about 16%. A pentagon made up of 5 dashes would have been easier to track.

In addition to the battery and ejuice level display, there are your standard features worth mentioning. With each Rock 12000 you will get 16ml of ejuice and a 650mAh battery that will get you around 12,000 puffs. I’m continually impressed on how small they can get these devices while still managing to pack in so much. It does have some weight to it at 70g but considering the 16ml of ejuice and the battery, it makes sense.. 

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Puffmi Rock 12000 is available in two different nicotine strengths, both 20mg/ml and 50mg/ml. This means that if you live in the United States and prefer 50mg/ml, you can get your hands on them but those who live in the UK/Canada can get the 20mg/ml, TPD compliant version. 

Due to varying usage habits, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly how long each user will get with each charge. However, as someone who is an all day vaper who vapes quite often, I was able to easily get 2 days of use without needing to recharge. The only downside to the battery on the Rock 12000  is that it takes quite a long time, around an hour, to recharge so keep that in mind.

Flavors

Every vaper knows that while a disposable vape can have a nice design and decent features the flavors are what’s really important. A device can provide a great draw, excellent vapor and last a long time but a bad lineup of flavors can make or break its success.

The Puffmi Rock 12000 comes with 20 great flavors and at a quick glance you can see that they are mostly fruity and sweet. They have even tossed in a few interesting flavors like Mango Oolong which is a Taiwanese tea, and Juicy Shisha which makes my mouth just water. The full list of flavors is as follows:

I was only sent three flavors to try for this review but I am going to give you my honest opinion on what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Cool Mint

“Sweet and refreshing”  is the most concise way to describe this flavor. I am not the biggest fan of vaping on mint or menthol flavors but the sweetness makes this flavor bearable. I would assume the average minty fan out there would absolutely love this if they like a sweeter mint.

Strawberry Yogurt Ice

This one is interesting because I don’t taste strawberry yogurt at all. This is probably a good thing because I wasn’t overly excited for this flavor,  but the actual flavor surprised me. This should have been called Strawberry Milkshake because that is what this flavor tastes like to me. Super creamy, rich and sweet!

Ruby Red Grapefruit

Talk about an explosion of flavor. This ruby red grapefruit flavor is top notch. As soon as it hits the mouth you get an immediate sour tingly feeling and the pop of flavor of the grapefruit. It lingers for a while and then subtly turns into a sweet flavor settling on the tongue. Perfection.

How do they vape?

The Puffmi Rock 12000 has fared me well during my testing and has held up without any issues or problems. As long as these devices have a charge they’re powerful, reliable and dependable.

Much like the Dura 9000, the Rock 12000 offers a tight MTL draw which is very satisfying. You can expect each draw to provide great flavor and a warm draw thanks to its dual mesh coil. Most disposables offer a looser MTL draw so this is a nice option for those who like their draw to be a little tighter.

The flavors that I had a chance to try have been all great and the ones that I didn’t get have me wanting to order them and give them a go, especially the Juicy Shisha flavor as this is not a flavor that you see all the time. With 20 flavor options there is literally something for everyone. The only thing I see missing is a tobacco flavored option.

Having the option of the two different nicotine strengths is also something I really like as some new vapers who have just made the switch may be looking for a higher nicotine strength to combat those urges. For these users I would suggest the 5% option. For all others, and for those in countries with regulations on nicotine strength, there is the 2% option that meets TPD compliance.

The display screen showing the ejuice and battery life levels are extremely helpful and seem to work without any issue. With each draw I was given all the information I needed and was able to keep a close eye on my levels to make sure I wasn’t going to be left in a jam. As I mentioned earlier, having a 5 level indicator would have made more sense but I suppose that six levels is slightly more accurate.

Verdict

Puffmi did a really good job with the Rock 12000. It’s a well built and beautifully designed device that covers all the bases. Each one comes pre-filled with 16ml of ejuice and holds a 650mAh battery that will get you up to 12,000 puffs. 

The Rock 12000 is the perfect device for users looking for a tight MTL draw that provides warm vapor and excellent flavor. The 20 flavor options offer something for all types of vapers, however there are no tobacco flavored options. I really like that this device is available in both 2% and 5% nicotine strengths offering users the two options depending on the user’s needs and country’s regulations. 

Tracking your disposables ejuice and battery levels are no issue with the Rock 12000 as the display screen will keep you in the know with each draw. The levels are displayed in a unique and unconventional way but ultimately get the job done.

You can expect to get up to 2 full days on one charge with the Rock 12000 which is pretty good battery life. I recommend recharging at night though as this device takes about an hour to fully recharge from dead.
