Design & Build Quality

The Sky Solo Plus is an AIO (all-in-one) kit which looks very similar to alot of other pen type vape kits. It is essentially a battery built into the bottom tube with a tank on top. The tank on the Sky Solo Plus is actually built into the kit, meaning you cannot remove the tank and replace it with another one.

It comes in a range of colours (Blue, Black, Silver or Rainbow), my review copy was in black.

The battery portion of the kit has a nice matt finish which does not attract finger prints. It has the ‘Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus’ branding running down the device and a nice big fire button, which is textured.

The device is quite light to hold, weighing 136g, but it doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy in your hand.

There is an indicator light around the fire button which lets you know the battery level when you take a vape on the device.

There is a micro USB port, which is used to connect the charging cable. This is located 90 degrees clockwise from the fire button.

Around the top of the battery section is the base of the tank, which is built into the device. This is where your coils are screwed in. The air holes are also built into this tank base and these are non adjustable.

The glass holds a huge 8ml of e liquid / juice.

The drip tip and top cap are all one piece, and made from plastic. Unscrewing the drip tip reveals the fill port. This hole is plenty big enough to fit most bottle ends and it is also recessed, so if you do miss the hole the liquid isn’t going to spill over the sides and run all over your device.

I like the design of the Sky Solo Plus. I think it has a simple, subtle look. It feels nice in the hand, light weight without coming across as cheap and the fire button has a nice textured feel. The fire button is also very responsive and the indicator lights are bright and visible, even in direct sunlight. I’ve tried pen type vapes in the past where you couldn’t even see the lights if the sun was shining, making it hard to see your battery level or if you’ve locked the device before putting it in your pocket. No problems on the Sky Solo Plus.

How to use the Sky Solo PlusVaporesso Sky Solo Plus Fill Port

When you first use the Sky Solo Plus you will need to install one of the two provided coils. The coil screws onto the top of the battery tube. Once done you will need to prime your coil. This can be done by dripping e-liquid onto the wicking holes. Do this on each hole until the juice is no longer soaking into the cotton. You can also put a few drops onto the cotton you can see through the top of the coil. This ensures the cotton is saturated with e-juice and stops the cotton from burning when you first fire the device.

Then you slide the glass tube over the coil so it sits snugly on the o-ring on top of the battery tube. Lastly, screw the top cap onto the top of coil. Ensure everything is tight, but don’t over tighten everything or you may have trouble trying to unscrew them later!

To fill the tank with e-liquid you simply unscrew the drip tip, and this reveals the filling hole. Squirt your liquid in, and once full screw the drip tip back on.

To turn on the device you just press the fire button 5 times in quick succession. You will see the light around the fire button glow green, blue then red. This lets you know the device has been turned on. To vape, press and hold the fire button while inhaling. If you want to turn the device off you just repeat the 5 quick presses of the fire button. Thats all there is to using this device!

PerformanceVaporesso Sky Solo Plus Performance

As i mentioned previously, this device is aimed at beginning vapers. As such, I wasn’t expecting a lot from the kit. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavour produced from the coils is lovely, almost on par with much more expensive sub ohm tanks. The cloud production was plenty adequate for me also. I was really impressed with the coils that come with the device. Throughout my two week testing period I didn’t have to change the coil due to flavor dropping off, so very happy happy with the longevity of the coils also.

The 3000mAh built in battery provides plenty of battery power, but if you are a chain vaper you may find you have to recharge your device throughout the day.

The included 8ml tank holds plenty of e-juice which prevents you having to fill up the tank regularly. When you do have to fill up, the simple screw off drip tip and large, recessed filling hole make this an easy task with no chance of spilling liquid when doing so.

I found the indicator lights around the fire button to be highly visible, even in direct sunlight. The device is very easy to use with its one button operation, which is perfect for beginning vapers.

VerdictVaporesso Sky Solo Plus Performance 2

All in all, I am very happy with the Sky Solo Plus. When I think back to when I was first making the switch from smoking to vaping, the devices I tried were nothing compared to the Sky Solo Plus. As a beginner device I think it’s a perfect introduction to vaping. Good battery life, simple operation, great flavor and coil performance.

It feels nice to hold, being light weight but not feeling cheap. The matte finish gives it a classy look and feel and fingerprints don’t show on the device.

I also like the feel of the fire button, the textured finish ensures your finger doesn’t slide off the button when firing and it’s nice and responsive.

I do have some negative points which I encountered, however.

I found that I had some slight leaking if the device was put on its side. It wasn’t a lot, which makes me believe it is condensation building up within the base of the tank and running out of the air holes when the device is put on its side. Also the air holes being none adjustable is something to mention. I didn’t find this an issue, I enjoyed the amount of air flow, but it could be too airy for some people who want a more restricted vape.

The tank being integrated with the battery is also something to point out. It would be nice to be able to swap tanks, but does a beginner need this functionality? No, probably not. However it does mean cleaning the base of the tank, which is stuck to the top of battery, cannot be done by running it under water. You’ll have to make do with some paper kitchen towels.

Integrated battery, along with the integrated tank, means the device is essentially disposable. Obviously the battery will be good for one to two years of charging, but once it does start to degrade you will have to replace the whole device. But then for such a cheap device, this is to be expected. Once a beginning vaper has made the switch, they would probably be ready to try a more advanced device anyway.

There is no spare glass included in the kit, so if you broke your included glass by accident, you’d have to buy a replacement. I feel a spare glass could have been included just to ensure your device wasn’t out of action if the worst was to happen.

Overall I really enjoyed the Sky Solo Plus. I think it’s a great introduction to vaping and it’s the sort of device I wish I had when I made the switch from vaping to smoking. As a beginner oriented device it offers everything you need to start vaping; ease of use, great flavor and vapor production, excellent coil performance, all within a very inexpensive price. I feel Vaporesso have done a great job with the Sky Solo Plus and I would definitely recommend it for new vapers.

More experienced vapers may find it is lacking some options, like an adjustable air flow control or the option to swap the tank for another one, but I can see why these have been left off for a device aimed at beginners. It gives the new vaper exactly what they need, which is an easy to use device that has great flavor and well performing coils, while not overwhelming them with too many options. You just fill it up, turn it on and vape away.

I started vaping approx. 5 years ago as a way to give up smoking. I'd tried many times previously to stop, but switching to vaping finally helped me to give it up for good. Now I enjoy building my own coils and squonking on an RDA, and would love to help others make the switch from smoking to vaping.

  • I totally dis agree with review. I just bought one to try to quit smoking and it burns so hot it burns so hot your lips get burnt you cant get a good drag on it because it is so hot. I find it a very bad product.
i would not recommend it to any one

    • same as mine i cannot even vape it, when i push the button it sparkling sound and i cannot put my mouth on it because it’s to hot… i still have it but do not know what to do with it, not recommended i bought another vape and it has everything on i can adjust it DRAG VCOPCO

  • Do you have a replacement??mine gets really hot and has caught on fire may I please send it back to you I paid 70 dollars for it please help

    • Hi. We are not the manufacturer of the device, so unfortunately we won’t be able to help you with your issue. It caught on fire though? That’s scary stuff! Hope you’re alright. Please contact Vaporesso through this link here and hopefully they will be able to assist you:

  • I can agree this is the best vape I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few. I’ve had no problems with a hot drip tip or over heating problems. It has a bit of leakage once it’s on it’s side but it stands up perfectly. I don’t over charge it, or leave it out in the sun. It works perfectly and the coils on it are great!

  • Hated this one. Purchase it at a store I don’t normally shop in when I found myself stranded with no vape after misplacing mine and other stores were closed. I chose this one based on its price and general functionality. It leaks like crazy. Burns through juice almost as fast as it leaks it. Cannot adjust airflow, tank/coils were very confusing and difficult to change (lost a good bit of juice just trying to figure it out since the tank is not a “stand-alone” piece. The mod itself IS the base of the tank. Within one week, I had an issue with the LED lights/charging/error blinking that just kept me in a loop of not being sure if it was not charging properly or what the actual problem was…. In the end. After a week- I was never able to get it functioning again. So I guess the $25 spent on it was just valuable enough to hold me over till I was able to truly replace my mod with one I really wanted from a store and brand I trust.
    STRONGLY advise against this purchase!

  • I hate my sky solo plus. I bought it a week ago. It has leaked a fifth of my liquid, it bubbles and spits, and I either get not enough of a cloud, or so much that I cough. It’s a horrible thing. Don’t buy one!

The battery is good, and charges quickly. That’s the only nice thing I can say about this horrible device.

  • Sorry. I completely disagree with the review, especially that it would be good for beginners because, from day 1, it leaks all over the place. Down the side of the pen, in your mouth. You have to wait until the well is empty before you can change to coil. The battery doesn’t hold much of a charge; I have to charge it 2-3 time a day. Newbies are going to think this is how all pens are and they’re not. I last had a SMOK Nord AIO 22 and it was fabulous. I had it for 3 years and I would still have it, but the charger insert just plain wore out. After enduring this piece of junk for one month, I’ve finally had it. I ordered another SMOK.
