The bottom line

Xbar’s Box disposables have good looks and the performance to match. The box-shaped, rounded design is attractive and the soft-touch coating makes them a pleasure to hold. They’re simple yet attractive, and I think that is a winning combination for a disposable.

More importantly though is what’s inside of them, though. The flavors that I tried are all quite good, although the Strawberry Ice Cream flavor was not completely to my liking. If you aren’t sure about the flavors that I tried, there are 15 other flavors that might interest you.

The dual mesh coil, 15ml of ejuice, and 850mAh battery will get you up to 5000 puffs, which is a lot of vaping. Although I would expect to get more like 8000 puffs and longer usage times per charge, the dual mesh coil may be the culprit in using up more battery and ejuice. The flavor and performance are quite good, so I think I can give the Xbar Box a pass here.

My main issue with the Xbar Box is the LED battery lights. Because the individual lights aren’t separated internally, the light bleeds through and this makes it harder to see your battery level at a glance. But in any case, it’s nice to have a battery indicator at all, even if it takes a closer look to figure it out.

Overall, I liked using the Xbar Box disposables and, if you’re thinking of grabbing one (or a couple), I would say go for it.

Xbar is a new disposable vaping brand that has just released their first device, the Xbar Box. This is a large-ejuice-capacity disposable vape with 15ml of ejuice and a rechargeable battery for up to 5000 puffs per device. At the moment, there are 20 flavors available.

While Xbar may be a new company in the disposable e-cigarette industry, they’ve already become known for their innovative patented mesh coil technology that provides long-lasting flavor even after recharging.

Xbar Vape takes their responsibility of protecting teen health seriously, which is why they have proudly partnered to establish the Teen No Smoking Initiative. Xbar conducts frequent store and website audits to ensure that their products are only sold to customers who meet the legal age requirement, further emphasizing their commitment to responsible business practices.

Is the Xbar Box a disposable that is worth purchasing? I tested them for two weeks to find out.

These devices were sent to me directly by Xbar for the purpose of this review. This does not in any way affect my thoughts or opinions on the devices.

Design & Build Quality

  • Xbar Box Disposables - 1

The Xbar Box is nothing revolutionary in terms of the design, but why reinvent the wheel? It’s appropriately named, with a box shaped design, and all of the edges and corners are rounded off to give it a comfortable feel in the hand.

These are medium-sized disposables; not too big but not so small either. They’re 80.5mm tall, 50.45mm wide, and 24.5mm thick, which is about what I would expect for a disposable with 15ml of ejuice and an 850mAh battery.

In the hand they feel great and they aren’t too heavy, but they have a bit of weight which makes them feel solid. In terms of portability, you can get away with carrying two or even three of these around at once, but you’ll notice them on you. I tended to just stick to one flavor when I left the house, just to keep the bulk to a minimum.

Each one has a plastic body that is finished with a soft-touch coating. I’ve found that they get dirty easily, especially if you’ve been doing a dirty job, but they also wipe clean easily too.

Each flavor of the Xbar Box is a different color, with the color matching the flavor of the device. This makes it easy to tell what flavor you’re picking up, without having to read the flavor that is printed on the device.

For example, Mixed Berry is purple, Watermelon Ice is bright red, and Cool Mint is green. The vibrant colors make them stand out a bit, so that’s something to be mindful of if you’re trying to keep your vaping under the radar.

Other than the flavor, the only other thing printed on the Xbar Box is a large X Bar logo. It’s printed in raised print, giving it a bit of a 3D look. The bottom portion of each device has a series of lines that create a sort of “stepped” look. There’s also an LED battery indicator here, which is useful to have.

The mouthpiece is wide, thick, and rounded for comfort. The opening is a bit large, so some dirt can get trapped there. I suggest cleaning it out with a tissue after putting it in your pocket, just so you don’t inadvertently inhale anything unwanted (which has happened to me once or twice).

Features

Xbar Box Disposables - 11

The Xbar Box is a high-ejuice-capacity disposable that comes prefilled with 15ml of ejuice. That places it among the higher-capacity disposables on the market. However, Xbar advertises that it’s good for 5000 puffs, which is lower than what I would expect for a disposable with this much ejuice. At the moment, they are only offered in 5% (50mg) nicotine strength.

Inside of the Xbar Box is a dual mesh coil that does all the hard work of vaporizing the e-liquid. Mesh coils are great for flavor, and dual mesh coils are usually even better. We’ll see how this coil does in the performance section of this review.

Each Xbar Box has an 850mAh rechargeable battery, so it can be recharged as many times as needed in order to vape all of the ejuice that is inside. The Type-C charging port is located on the bottom of the device. These also feature pass-thru charging, so they can be used while charging.

A nice feature is that there is also a four-LED battery indicator. When the device is fully charged, all four lights will light up each time that you draw. Three lights signifies that the battery is at 50-75% battery, two lights means 25-50% battery, and 1 light means that the battery is at 25% or less.

The LED light is quite bright, and since there doesn’t appear to be any internal divider between the LEDs, the light bleeds through the other indicator holes. This can make it difficult to tell if you’re really seeing two or three lights, unless you look closely. It’s definitely not as easy to see from a glance as it could be, requiring a closer look to tell for sure.

The 850mAh battery is larger than I expected, primarily because most other disposables of this size come with a 500-650mAh battery. That being said, I was expecting to vape ~500+ puffs per charge. However, my Xbar’s performed more similarly to other 500-650mAh battery disposables, netting me around 300-400 puffs per charge. I feel that the battery capacity may be overstated here, but without the proper testing equipment I can’t say for sure. It could also come down to the dual mesh coil inside using up more battery power though.

Flavors

Xbar Box Disposables - 4

Xbar’s Box disposables are available in 20 flavors to start, although they may release more flavors in the future. The flavors look tasty, with fruit, candy, coffee, and mint flavors listed on their website. There’s no tobacco flavor unfortunately, but I think that there’s enough flavors to choose from that everyone can find a flavor that they’ll like.

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Watermelon Ice

Watermelon Ice is exactly what you would expect from the name: watermelon and ice. There are no surprises here, with a nice lush watermelon flavor and a small amount of cooling. The watermelon here is more natural than candied and the ice is not too overwhelming. Good flavor overall.

Gummy Bears

Out of the five flavors that I was sent, this is the one that I vaped the most. You would think that the flavor would be super sweet but it’s actually mild while still being super tasty. There’s definitely a gummy bear flavor here and the candied sweetness is perfect. If you like candy flavors but don’t like them too sweet, this is a flavor to try.

Raspberry Watermelon

The balance of the raspberry and watermelon in this flavor is on point. Raspberry is what I taste off the inhale, with watermelon coming through shortly after. The flavors then continue to mix throughout the exhale for a really nice flavor combination.

Cool Mint

This is a nice mint flavor with just enough ice and a nice, sweet flavor to it. I can’t vape on mint flavors too long or I’ll get a headache, but this is one that I didn’t mind taking a few pulls on here and there. I’ve vaped enough mint flavors to know a good one from a bad one, and this one is definitely a good one if you like sweet mints.

Strawberry Ice Cream

Ice Cream flavors just aren’t for me and this one is no exception. The ‘ice cream’ flavoring isn’t nearly as strong as from other brands that I’ve tried, which is a good thing. This tastes more like a strawberry milkshake, so it’s not bad, but not for me.

Performance

Xbar Box Disposables - 6

Xbar’s Box disposables are great to vape on and deliver good satisfaction from each draw. The 5% (50mg) nicotine strength gives these disposables a nice kick and throat hit, so all it takes is a few draws for me to feel satisfied. They’re very smooth too, with no harshness to the draw at all from any of the flavors.

The tight mouth to lung draw from these disposables is perfect. It’s tight enough that ex-smokers will enjoy it, but tuned so that it’s easy to get it to activate. You don’t have to draw too hard to get it to work, and the draw activation works as it should.

The flavor, draw, and satisfaction are definitely there with these disposables. But going back to some points I made earlier, with 15ml of ejuice I would expect these to last longer than 5000 puffs; somewhere around 8000 would have been my expectation.

This could have something to do with the dual mesh coil inside of these. Mesh coils tend to use more ejuice in exchange for more vapor and better flavor, which would explain a lot. Admittedly, these do put out good flavor and vapor, so I’ll chalk the 5000 puffs up to the mesh coil.

The 850mAh battery is also seemingly affected by the power needed to drive the dual mesh coil. If there was a regular coil inside of these, you could reasonably expect to vape 400-500+ puffs from a single charge. However, I was getting ~350 puffs on average from each charge so either the battery capacity is overstated, or the mesh coil inside uses a lot of battery.
