Geek Bar Pulse X 2 Review: One of the Best Disposables Gets Better

The Pulse X 2 keeps many of the same design elements as the original Pulse X, but it’s been updated and tweaked slightly to look more modern and “2026-esque”. Anyone who has seen and used the original will instantly recognize the Pulse X 2 as part of the same series, but the small tweaks make it clear it’s not the same device.

So, what’s changed? For one, the black plastic that covered the display has been replaced with a clear top layer, along with an underlayer that complements the device’s color. This area also features a fine, cross-hatch pattern that gives it a bit of subtle detail.

The “starry display” has also been updated to look clearer and more scintillating, now featuring a falling-stars type of pattern rather than the constellation pattern that was on the original. Additionally, the X 2 adds two LED light bars: one at the top of the screen and one at the bottom. These bars are green in regular mode, and orange in Pulse mode, and light up with the rest of the display when you take a draw. Honestly, the whole starry display is a bit much for my tastes, but I do think that the LED light bars look cool.

As with the original, the Pulse X 2 is a bit hefty. It’s 94.5mm tall, 58.4mm wide, and 29.9mm thick, which makes it slightly larger than the original. But in today’s world of disposables getting larger and larger to pack in more puffs, the size is not too out of the ordinary.

The shape of the X 2 is really nice. All of the sides and corners are rounded, so it looks good and feels good in the hand. I liked the shape and feel of the original, so I’m glad that Geek Bar kept the Pulse X 2 more or less the same.

Features

The first thing you’ll notice about the Pulse X 2 is something that I touched on a little bit earlier, and that’s the “starry display” UI. The display on the Pulse X 2 wraps nearly entirely around the device, meaning the front and sides all light up when you switch modes or take a draw.

In regular mode, the display lights up with stars, some of them falling and leaving a trail. In Pulse mode, a planet lights up, along with many more stars falling and trailing. In both modes, the front of the display shows your remaining battery percentage at the top, a Pulse X logo in the middle, and your remaining e-juice at the bottom.

While I think that the flashy light show looks cool, it’s not what I look for in a vape. That is to say, I’m a fan of subtle and attractive vapes rather than ones that immediately grab everyone’s attention. I’m sure there are vapers who will like the animation, and if that’s you, then awesome, but it’s definitely attention-grabbing.

Switching between the two modes, normal and Pulse, can be done through a switch on the bottom of the X 2. This switch also simultaneously changes the airflow, with normal mode leaving two holes open and Pulse mode offering 3 holes of airflow.

Normal mode delivers a tight mouth-to-lung draw with a decent amount of restriction, which is perfect for your average MTL vaper. Pulse mode loosens it up to a medium mouth-to-lung draw, but it’s still quite tight.

What’s interesting about the Pulse X 2 is that it still comes with the same 18ml of e-juice as the original, but it now offers double the amount of puffs. Geek Bar says that the Pulse X 2 can last for up to 50,000 puffs in normal mode or 25,000 puffs in Pulse mode, which is nuts.

This increase in puffs likely comes down to the improved coil technology in the X 2, which uses Geek Bar’s latest VPU technology and a 0.6Ω dual mesh coil. I won’t pretend to know the technical information on how this works, but what I do know is that Geek Bar heavily invests in their R&D, so leaps and bounds in specs are not surprising.

One of Geek Bar’s strengths as a brand has always been the large assortment of flavors that it offers, as well as how good those flavors are. As of the time of writing this review, there are 30 flavors available for the Pulse X 2:

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor, this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Blueberry Jam

If you don’t look at the flavor, it actually tastes a lot like fresh raspberry. It’s a great-tasting flavor, but I don’t think that it tastes like blueberry jam. There are some subtle afternotes of blueberry, maybe just slightly, but it really tastes like a raspberry flavor.

Watermelon Ice

Watermelon is a flavor that Geek Bar has always been good at, and this watermelon ice flavor is just right. It’s not candied and tastes more natural, with a good amount of sweetness. The Ice component isn’t too strong either, so non-ice vapers can probably still enjoy it.

Coco Berry Bull

If you like energy drinks, then this flavor will be right up your alley. There’s a strong Red Bull flavor, along with fruity berry notes that are subtle but expressive on the exhale. The main component of this flavor is the Red Bull notes, though.

Peach Bull

Unlike the previous flavor, you can definitely taste the fruity peach notes a lot more. The energy drink flavor is still strong, but it doesn’t overpower the peach. It’s a nice balanced mix of fruit and energy drink, and it’s one of my favorite flavors for the X 2.

Blue Razz Bull

The energy drink flavor here is the least powerful of the ones that I tried, and the blue razz flavor is sweet, strong, and definitely the main component of this vape. Blue razz is another flavor that Geek Bar does really well, and I like the mix that they’ve made here.

How long do they last?

The upgraded 1000mAh battery on the Pulse X 2 certainly improves battery life, offering longer use than the 820mAh battery in the original Pulse X.

With equal use of Pulse and normal modes, I’ve been getting about three days of use out of a charge. This can be extended to four days or so of use by using normal mode exclusively, or cut down to two days or less if you use only Pulse mode.

 Charging is very quick, with charging to 80% taking only 20 minutes. The last 20% takes another 20 minutes, for a total charging time of 40 minutes, which is quite fast by any standard.

How do they vape?

Like other disposable vapes, the Pulse X 2 is specifically made and catered towards MTL vapers. You’re not going to get big airy draws, but you do get a lot of vapor if you’re using the device in Pulse mode.

The draw is fairly standard in normal mode, with warm vapor, a tight MTL draw, and good flavor. But if you want a more intense and satisfying draw, just switch the X 2 to Pulse mode, and you might get more than you bargained for.

Pulse mode delivers a medium-tight MTL draw, with heavy vapor and a strong hit. The 5% nicotine strength e-juice delivers a real kick in Pulse mode, and the flavor intensity shoots up as well. The vapor is warmer too. The 0.6Ω dual mesh coil really does a good job of bringing out the most from Geek Bar’s flavors.

Draws from the Pulse X 2 stay consistent, even as the battery dies, which is both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because you never lose power or intensity, even when the battery is about to die. But on the other hand, this means that you need to keep an eye on the battery percentage, or else you could find your device dying at the worst possible time.

Verdict

It’s hard to follow up on what was once (in our opinion) the best disposable vape available, but the Pulse X 2 has seemingly done just that. While there are no monumental changes from the original Pulse X, the Pulse X 2 does everything just a little bit better than the original, and even just a little bit better than other disposable vapes available today.

The flavor consistency and battery life are excellent. Add to this fast charging, a great vaping experience, and a large selection of great flavors, and it’s a recipe for success. The massive puff count is just another reason to get it; 50000 puffs in regular mode is enough to last even the most hardcore vaper for weeks.

If I had to pick a few changes for the next generation, I would like to see the Pulse X 3 with an independent airflow slider, plus the option to turn off the attention-grabbing starry display. Otherwise, the Pulse X 2 leaves little to be desired, and I would still be happy using it as my daily disposable vape, even without the above changes.
