Our Verdict

The Melody Max Pro is easily one of the best nicotine-free vapes that I’ve used. The flavors are great, the draw is strong, and they even provide a nice throat/chest hit. While they don’t provide the exact same experience as a vape containing nicotine (no nicotine-free vape will), they get close enough that you can definitely use them as a tool to quit nicotine.

On top of the great performance, the design is nice too and there’s nothing wrong with the build quality. I like the rubberized coating on the body, and the ability to recharge these means that you can vape all 11ml of ejuice without having to worry about the battery depleting before you finish.

With strong will power and determination to be free from nicotine, I can definitely see the Melody Max Pro being a helpful aid towards accomplishing this goal.

The Melody Max Pro is a disposable vape that is a little different than others that I have reviewed and that’s for one main reason: it’s not available with nicotine. The Melody Max Pro is made by a company called TryMelody, and their mission is to help vapers quit nicotine and quit vaping altogether.

Because TryMelody’s mission statement is to help vapers free themselves of their nicotine addiction, they don’t offer any products containing nicotine. The Melody Max Pro is their latest nicotine-free vape and it’s only available with 0% nicotine.

The Melody Max Pro is a small disposable vape. It comes prefilled with 11ml of ejuice and each one will last for up to 5000 puffs. You can also recharge the device using the Type-C charging port located on the bottom of each one.

Finding a good disposable vape is easy, but finding a good nicotine-free disposable vape is hard. If you’re looking to eliminate nicotine from your life, is the Melody Max Pro the way to go?

Design & Build Quality

  • TryMelody Melody Max Pro - 1

Each Melody Max Pro device is colorful, vibrant, and cheery looking. They make a good first impression from the moment that you take them out of the box, as they just look and feel like quality disposables.

These are quite compact at 78mm tall, 39mm wide, and 18mm thick, so they’re easily concealed in the palm of my hand. This makes the Melody Max Pro a perfect “stealth vaping” device because you can fully palm one and take a few draws without anyone being the wiser.

In addition, the size also makes them extremely portable. If you’re the type of vaper that only carries one vaping device with you at a time, then you’ll likely forget that you even have it on you. Which works, because that’s sort of the point of these devices — to cut down on your vaping until you completely eliminate vaping from your life.

Even if you like to carry more than one flavor with you at a time, well that’s not a problem either. These aren’t heavy at all so you can easily carry two or three with you at once without adding much weight, or bulk, to your pockets.

TryMelody Melody Max Pro - 9

Each Melody Max Pro has a gloss plastic base, upper, and mouthpiece. The main body features a soft-touch, rubberized coating that adds grip and feels great too. Each flavor is a different color, which makes it easy to tell them apart. The color also matches the flavor, for instance Blue Razz is blue and Grape Ice is purple. This lets you know at a glance which flavor you’re picking up to vape.

On one side of the body there’s a raised Melody logo and below it is where the flavor is printed, also in raised lettering. Each one specifically says “0%” on it, giving you some assurance that these are truly nicotine-free devices.

There’s a lanyard anchor spot at the top corner of the Melody Max Pro, but unfortunately you don’t get a lanyard in the package. The mouthpiece is tall, just wide-enough, and pleasant to use. My only complaint is that the airflow hole in the center of the mouthpiece is pretty big, so there’s a chance that lint or dirt can get in there from your pockets.

Located on the bottom of the device is the Type-C charging port, which you can use to recharge the device when it dies. There’s also a blue LED on the bottom here which lights up each time that you take a puff.

Features

TryMelody Melody Max Pro - 10

The Melody Max Pro’s main feature is that it’s nicotine-free, and that’s the main distinguishing point that sets it apart from other disposables on the market. Other than the lack of nicotine, the Melody Max Pro is not much different from disposables that contain nicotine.

TryMelody’s website states “Our product is free of regulated substances and chemicals in your typical electronic nicotine delivery system”. While this is true in regards to them not containing nicotine, which is a regulated substance and a chemical, I feel like this could give someone the wrong impression that other vapes contain chemicals (other than nicotine) that the Melody Max Pro does not.

Looking at the ingredients, the Melody Max Pro contains propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and natural flavorings — the same ingredients as any other disposable vape, just without the nicotine.

Each Melody Max Pro comes filled with 11ml of ejuice, which is a large amount of ejuice for the small size of the device. They are also rechargeable, and are rated for up to 5000 puffs. I can’t find the actual battery capacity listed anywhere, but I would guess that it’s somewhere around 600-800mAh.

There’s no adjustable airflow, but each one gives me a tight MTL draw that feels great. If you used vaping to quit smoking, and now want to use the Melody Max Pro to quit vaping, the fact that the draw is similar to a cigarette will definitely be helpful.

Flavors

TryMelody Melody Max Pro - 11

The Melody Max Pro is offered in 14 flavors. Six of these flavors are ice/mint, while the others are cooling-free. These flavors are:

  • Blue Razz
  • Blue Razz Ice
  • Blue Razz Lemonade
  • Cherry Vanilla Cola
  • Cool Mint
  • Cotton Candy
  • Grape Ice
  • Peach Ice
  • Pineapple Coconut
  • Raspberry Lemonade
  • Strawberry Ice
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Tropical Mango
  • Watermelon Ice

Their flavors are mostly fruit flavors, which is great if you’re a fruit-vape lover. They’re also balanced around ice and non-ice flavors, so there’s something there no matter your preference. There’s unfortunately no tobacco or dessert flavors, but maybe this is something that they could come out with in the future.

I’m going to go over twelve of their flavors in this section: Blue Razz, Grape Ice, Raspberry Lemonade, Watermelon Ice, Tropical Mango, Cotton Candy, Strawberry Kiwi, Cherry Vanilla Cola, Blue Razz Lemonade, Cool Mint, Pineapple Coconut, and Peach Ice.

I’ll describe how these flavors taste to me and what I think of them, but keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it, and vice-versa. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Blue Razz

This is a nice blue razz flavor, completely with the sweetness and tanginess that any good blue razz flavor is known for. The inhale is sweet and tangy from the go, but this flavor also has a nice candying to it that really becomes apparent on the exhale. All around, very tasty.

Blue Razz Lemonade

This is a lot like Blue Razz but with a touch of subtle lemonade flavor. You don’t notice it much on the inhale but on the exhale you can just faintly catch the sweet subtle notes of the lemonade. In my opinion, this is one of the best flavors for the Melody Max Pro.

Cotton Candy

This one is weird for me. It definitely has a sugary, cotton candy taste but it’s not very strong. It also has a strange aftertaste that I’m not too fond of.

Strawberry Kiwi

This is exactly what the name says: strawberry and kiwi. The notes of strawberries are stronger than kiwi but I can taste them both throughout the inhale and exhale. Overall it’s a mellow flavor with just enough sweetness to keep it good without being overly sugary.

Cherry Vanilla Cola

I was expecting the vanilla component of this flavor to be really toned down, as you find in other flavors with a secondary vanilla flavor added. However, vanilla here is equal in strength to the cherry and cola, providing a sort of ‘trifecta’ of flavor. You taste all three one after the other in this flavor so it’s a wonderful vape.

Peach Ice

TryMelody’s version of peach ice includes the bit of tang that a real peach has so it tastes more real than a lot of other peach flavors out there. Like the other flavors it’s not too sweet bring brings enough sweetness to leave you satisfied with the flavor. Juicy, tangy peaches are always a great vape and this version is especially good.

Pineapple Coconut

While this flavor smells like pineapple and coconut, the flavor is anything but. That’s maybe a little harsh because I do taste some coconut and pineapple but it’s very muddled. There’s also a weird rubbery taste that I catch just on the inhale. All that said, this flavor didn’t do it for me.

Grape Ice

It’s like cold grape juice in a vape! The grape flavor is perfectly sweet and really reminds me of a glass of grape juice. The cooling hits you right away, providing a medium level of iciness to the draw.

Raspberry Lemonade

This flavor could be better, but it’s still not bad. I just find the raspberry and lemonade flavors are too light and are not prominent enough. While I get a sharp raspberry taste right on the inhale, it’s quickly lost, and the lemonade flavor is more of an aftertaste than a main flavor. I want to like this more, but it needs to be stronger.

Watermelon Ice

This is a really good watermelon ice flavor. The watermelon is strong and natural, and overall very well done. The ice is a low-medium level that is pleasant and just right. I’m very pleased by the taste of this, and I would go as far as to say that it’s one of the best watermelon flavors that I’ve tried.

Tropical Mango

Tropical Mango delivers a ripe mango taste that is bursting with flavor. It’s natural, sweet to the right extent, and lingers in your mouth after the exhale. This is my top pick out of the flavors for the Melody Max Pro, and it’s one that I’ve been vaping on heavily. It’s so good that, despite the lack of nicotine, I’ll continue to use it after this review.

Cool Mint

For a mint flavor with no nicotine, this is the best option that I have tried. It’s not too strong and minty. Instead you get a cool, sweet mint that can be vaped on all day. I think this is the right balance of minty enough to feel it, but not so minty that it’s painful to breathe after vaping on it.

Performance

TryMelody Melody Max Pro - 12

The first concern that I had when I heard that these were nicotine free is the throat hit. Nicotine is a big factor in the “oomph” and throat hit that you get from vapes,  so it can even be lacking in lower nicotine strength vapes. I was proven wrong by these, though.

The Melody Max Pro provides a very nice draw with a lot of vapor and flavor density, and as a result, it has a kick to it that mimics the throat and chest feel of a vape that contains nicotine. It’s truly surprising how well these hit for being nicotine-free. I’m willing to bet that if you gave a vaper these to try without telling them that they were nicotine free, they probably wouldn’t be able to tell.

The mouth to lung draw that you get from each one is also perfect. It’s just tight enough that it feels like drawing on a cigarette, without being too tight to pull. For not having adjustable airflow, the draw is great as it is.

I’m used to vaping 6mg regular nicotine ejuices and 20-25mg nicotine salt ejuices regularly, so when I used the Melody Max Pro I fully expected to feel like I wasn’t getting the satisfaction that I was looking for. Well, although I did have cravings for nicotine while I used these, just the action of vaping on something was enough to keep me from picking up a nicotine vape immediately after.

Verdict
