The bottom line
The Tornado 20000 is an excellent disposable overall. The strength of the draw is just right for 2% nicotine users like myself and the tight airflow is pleasant without being too tight that it disrupts the flavor.
Another thing that the Tornado 20000 has going for it is the simplicity. There’s still some level of customization possible with the two output modes but it’s straightforward to switch between them.
Tying the airflow control with the mode switch also makes it that much more user-friendly. While independent airflow control would have been nice, the two-mode airflow works just fine for tweaking the tight MTL draw between tight or very tight, and keeps things simple for beginners.
If a tight MTL draw isn’t your style of vaping then the Tornado 20000 won’t be for you. A wider range of airflow would have been nice to see, even if it only allowed a looser, medium-MTL draw. This would have widened the potential user-base for this device and better suited more vapers.
The charging speed is another issue. There’s no reason why it should take 2 hours to charge a 900mAh device; come on, I mean 0.5A charging in 2024? Really?
The Tornado 20000 is really an excellent disposable vape overall but there is always room for improvement. Still, the charging speed won’t stop me from recommending this device for those who like a tight MTL draw.
Movkin is a new brand in the vaping space and if you haven’t heard of them, you have now! They currently offer a line-up of five disposable vapes ranging from 10,000 puffs all the way up to 35,000 puffs. Today, I’ll be reviewing a device that is in the middle of this puff range; the Movkin Tornado 20000.
The Tornado 20000 can provide up to 20000 puffs from its 20ml of ejuice and it has some pretty nice features overall. For one, it’s available in a wide range of nicotine strengths: 0%, 2%, 3%, or 5%. It also has a large, bright screen with battery and ejuice indicators.
The Tornado 20000 features two output modes (single coil and dual coil) which are tied to the airflow control. Both modes provide a mouth-to-lung draw. As of the time of writing this review, there are 20 flavors available.
- Size: 95.4mm x 53.2mm x 25.9mm
- Weight: 92g
- 900mAh Rechargeable battery
- Type-C Charging
- 2 Wattage settings: Single, Dual
- Up to 20,000 Puffs (Single coil mode)
- 0%, 2%, 3% or 5% (0mg, 20mg, 30mg, 50mg) Nicotine content
- Draw activated
- Two-mode Adjustable Airflow
- Tight MTL draw
- 20 Flavor options
Design & Build Quality
The Tornado 20000 has a standard, rectangular shape that doesn’t try to break the mold or do anything too different. I like that.
But when I first took it out of the packaging, I couldn’t help but feel a slight sense of deja-vu. I felt like I had seen this device before – had I? Then it hit me; the screen on the front of the device is a lot like the original Geekbar Pulse, encased in a clear plastic dome.
That’s the end of the similarities between the two devices though so it would be a stretch to say that Movkin copied the Pulse. Regardless, I think that it’s a cool design element and it’s scratch resistant too. Even after being in and out of my pocket and hand bags, the clear plastic still looks basically brand new.
The rest of the Tornado 20000 features an opaque plastic body with a gradient of two colors. There’s a series of X’s cut into the surface on both sides of the device, adding some much needed grip and also giving the devices an interesting look.
The front, screen side of the Tornado 20000 (where the clear plastic dome is) is flat, but otherwise the rest of the sides and corners are rounded off. The device measures 95.4mm by 53.2mm by 25.9mm and weighs 92g when full so it’s a good size for a 20,000 puff disposable. It has a bit of weight but it’s not too bad at all.
It has a lanyard anchor spot on the front, screen side of the device but unfortunately it doesn’t come with a lanyard.
The screen is very bright and vibrant, displaying a few different colors but primarily green lighting. The bottom of each device has a Type-C charging port and the mode/airflow control switch.
The Movkin Tornado 20000 has an attractive design and good build quality. It feels good in the hand and has resisted wear and scratches well. The plastic body is also solid and does not flex or give when tightly gripped. The screen is a bit too bright when it’s dark but that’s a minor issue. All things considered, the Tornado 20000 gets an outstanding score for design & build quality.
Features
The Tornado 20000 sits somewhere in the middle of Movkin’s range of disposable vapes. It doesn’t have their most advanced display and it doesn’t have the largest puff count that they offer. However, it’s simple to operate and still offers a lot in the way of 20,000 puffs and 20ml of ejuice. There’s also a lot of choice for nicotine strength because these are available in 0%, 2%, 3% or 5% (0mg, 20mg, 30mg, 50mg) nicotine content.
The Tornado 2000 has two output modes. It’s nice to have the option of switching up the draw and it’s easy to switch between them. You can vape in either single coil mode or dual coil mode and switching between them is as easy as sliding the switch on the bottom of the device. This switch also doubles as the airflow control with two airflow holes open in dual coil mode and one airflow hole open in single coil mode.
Single coil mode only uses one of the two coils so the vape isn’t as intense or powerful. Dual coil mode uses both coils simultaneously for a more powerful and thick draw.
No matter which mode is used, the airflow is tight. It’s a tighter mouth-to-lung draw in single coil mode or a slightly looser but still tight mouth-to-lung draw in dual coil mode.
The display shows the output mode (S or D), battery life, and remaining ejuice. When you first take a puff, the display will show the battery life percentage. After a second or two, this readout switches to a remaining ejuice percentage. Below all of this is a lit up Movkin logo.
The screen could have been made better by omitting the Movkin logo and displaying a fixed battery percentage and ejuice percentage, rather than switching the readout between them. It’s usable as it is, but it could have been better.
Battery life & Charging
The Tornado 20000 has a 900mAh battery that recharges with Type-C charging. That’s good for a disposable of its size and has translated into 2-3 days of use per charge; not bad. Each full-use of a charge brings down the remaining ejuice by about 25%, meaning that you can recharge these three times and get four full charges of use before having to throw them out.
The charging speed isn’t listed anywhere but I charged a full charge as taking nearly two hours. That leads me to believe that these have a 0.5A charging speed, which isn’t good. I recommend charging these overnight to save yourself the pain of waiting for them to recharge while you’re awake and in need of a vape. They do feature pass-thru charging, so you won’t be completely stuck at least.
Flavors
To go with the 20,000 puffs, the Tornado 20000 has twenty flavors available. There are more dessert and candy flavors than I’m used to seeing from other brands so that’s good news if you have a sweet tooth. It also makes these a nice alternative for vapers who are tired of the same fruit flavors. The available flavors are:
- Banana Cake
- Blue Razz
- Blueberry Raspberry Hard Candy
- Cherry Lime
- Cotton Candy
- Cucumber Lemonade
- Huckleberry
- Jelly Beans
- Lychee Hami Melon
- Mixed Berry
- Peach Mango Watermelon
- Peach Pineapple Orange
- Pear Ice
- Pina Colada
- Pineapple Lemon Green Apple
- Skittles
- Strawberry Ice Cream
- Strawberry Kiwi
- Strawberry Watermelon
- Watermelon Ice
I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.
Huckleberry
I’ve never had huckleberries or a huckleberry flavors vape before but this has been one of my most vaped-on flavors. It’s slightly tart and tastes almost like a blueberry but with weak floral notes and a deep sweetness. It’s a flavor that is easy to vape on all day without getting tired of it.
Cotton Candy
This doesn’t taste as much like Cotton Candy as it does ice cream. It has that same ice cream taste vape flavor that I’m used to from strawberry ice cream flavors. I could do without this flavor and I think it could use some major tweaking.
Blueberry Raspberry Hard Candy
Think blue razz but very candied and sweet. This is another really wonderful flavor and it’s a nice change from the more fruity blue razz flavors that I’m used to vaping. If you like blue razz but are craving something a little different, this is a flavor that you should try.
Strawberry Ice Cream
This flavor tastes like Movkin’s Cotton Candy flavor, only much fuller, bolder, and more flavorful. While I’m still not a big fan of ice cream flavors, this one tastes like what it’s labeled as. The strawberry note could be a bit more prominent but I’m sure that ice cream vape lovers will get what they’re looking for from this flavor.
Peach Mango Watermelon
On the inhale I taste strong mango, slightly weaker peach, and subtle watermelon flavors. This is mostly a peach and mango flavor but the little hint of watermelon is there and makes the vape just a little more complex and tasty. If peach and mango are flavors that you like vaping on, you won’t be disappointed. Just don’t expect a lot of watermelon flavor from this vape.
How do they vape?
With the variety of nicotine strengths available, the Tornado 20000 caters to just about every disposable vaper out there. I can only speak to my experiences with the 2% nicotine versions but since it’s the lowest strength that they offer (other than 0% nicotine), it gives me a good baseline to share my thoughts from.
In 2% strength, the Tornado 20000 is just right for me. I’ve been trying to lower my nicotine intake recently, especially with the 2% maximum limit here in Canada, and these vape just perfectly.
Single coil mode is my preferred mode to use. It’s a strong but not overpowering draw with very tight airflow. The airflow isn’t so tight that I have to struggle to draw and it’s still enough airflow to allow the flavor to come through properly, but it might be too tight for some of you.
I used dual coil mode often as well, switching now and then for a few stronger puffs. The draw feels denser and more powerful but it’s not too intense to use. The looser airflow ensures that this mode isn’t unusable and the flavors come out a bit stronger too.
I can only guess that the experience will be similar with the higher strength nicotine versions for those who are used to those strengths. If this is the case, which I can’t see why it wouldn’t be, the Tornado 20000 really hits just right; not too weak and not too powerful of a draw, along with lots of flavor.
