OXBAR The Fox Disposable Review: How Does The Fox Vape?

The Fox is one of ten disposables that are offered by vaping brand, OXBAR. OXBAR is a company that was created by the original OXVA team, so it’s safe to say that there’s some knowledge and experience behind the company. 

So far, OXBAR has focused on disposable vapes. ‘The Fox’ is one of their highest puff count devices that they offer, claiming 7000 puffs from a single device. Each one comes filled with 16ml of 5% nicotine strength ejuice and packs a rechargeable 550mAh battery. There are 10 flavors available.

With so many disposable vapes on the market, is The Fox a disposable vape that you should consider? How do these disposable vape and are the flavors any good? Learn everything that you need to know about OXBAR’s The Fox disposable in this review.

Design & Build Quality

OXBAR’s The Fox disposables look premium and they feel high-quality. That’s not something that I thought I would ever say about a disposable, but that’s the most accurate way to describe them. Each one has a metal shell, which is a change from the typical plastic shell that most disposables are made with, and it feels really solid.

As far as the shape, it’s more similar to other disposables than it is different. Each one is 79mm tall, 44mm wide, and 23mm thick. This makes them just a bit smaller than the DRAGBAR B5000, and just a little thicker than the Elfbar BC5000. 

All three of these disposables have a similar rectangular shape with rounded sides. It’s an ideal shape for a disposable as The Fox is large enough to comfortably hold in your hand, but still small enough to easily put in your pocket.

It’s easy to see that a lot of time and effort have been put into the design of The Fox. The metal shell for each one features a matte finish on the front and back, and a shiny finish on the sides. It has a nice metallic luster that looks luxurious, while also adding grip to the device as well. It looks slippery but it’s surprisingly grippy. This metal shell is durable and does not scratch easily. It also does not hold fingerprints, which is nice.

There’s a cube pattern on the front of the device as well as a large OXBAR logo. The flavor is also printed next to the OXBAR logo. Each flavor comes in its own unique color and no two colors are alike, so it’s easy to tell them apart without looking at the printed flavor. 

 The top mouthpiece portion of each one is made of plastic which has an iridescent sheen. The color of the plastic matches the metal body but when you move it around in the light, you’ll see blue and other colors in the plastic. It’s a cool look which adds to the premium look of these disposables.

The mouthpiece on each one is slim and of a medium size, with a large airflow hole in the center. I found them comfortable to vape on and faced no issues with the draw activation for any of my test units.

There’s a blue LED on the bottom of each device that lights up when you vape. It also lights up while the device is charging. The light is a good brightness where it’s not too bright, but still lets you know that the device is working.

Out of the eight devices that I received for this review (some double flavors), one did not work out of the box (Banana Ice). I tried charging it and no lights came on and it would not vape at all. That’s a 12.5% defective rate in just my small sample, which definitely isn’t good. All of my other 7 devices worked out of the box and continue to work as I’m writing this review. Some of them did come with a dead battery, but this was easily fixed by charging them up.

Features

OXBAR’s The Fox disposables come with the same features as any other simple disposable. They’re draw activated, which means that you only have to inhale on the mouthpiece to vape. They don’t feature any adjustable settings, so that’s really all that you have to do in order to use these.

Each one comes filled with 16ml of ejuice which places The Fox among the largest capacity disposables on the market. They also come with a 550mAh battery. While this battery capacity alone is not near enough to vape all 16ml of ejuice, each one is rechargeable through a Type-C port on the bottom of the device. This allows you to recharge them and vape every drop of ejuice out of them before having to throw them away. Each one is rated as being good for up to 7000 puffs.

As of the time of writing this review The Fox is only available in 5% nicotine strength. If you vape on lower strength disposables, then you’re out of luck for the moment with these guys. This 5% nicotine strength will be best for heavy smokers trying to quit, or for those who already vape 5% disposables or nicotine salt ejuices.

OXBAR’s The Fox disposables come in ten flavors. These are:

There are a lot of fruit flavors and a lot of ice flavors, which is a typical flavor profile for a disposable with only 10 flavors. Their website says that there are more flavors coming soon, so we will have to see what else they come out with.

For this review, I’m going to go over five of their flavors: Aloe Grape, Strawberry Watermelon Ice, Banana Ice, Lush Ice, and Blue Razz. I’ll describe how these flavors taste to me and what I think of them, but keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it, and vice-versa. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Aloe Grape

The name of this flavor says it all. All of these flavors are true to their name, letting you know exactly what to expect from each one. The aloe in this flavor is stronger than the grape on both the inhale and exhale. Grapes come in closely behind the aloe flavor and really round out the overall flavor profile. The sweetness is at a nice level. Any sweeter and it would be too much, so it’s good how it is.

Blue Razz

There are a lot of blue razz flavors out there, but you can’t make a disposable without having a blue razz option. OXBAR’s version is great; candied blue raspberries with a heavy draw that I really like. There’s some cooling to this flavor on the exhale too, which is nice if you like a little ice. 

Lush Ice

I like the flavor that I get from this lush ice disposable. It’s a sweet and natural taste, with no candying to be found. The watermelon is prominent and tasty, without being too powerful or sugary. The ice also comes in nicely at the end of the draw, although it’s very subtle. You’ll like this flavor if you like watermelon vapes, even if ice vapes aren’t for you.

Strawberry Watermelon Ice

I thought that this flavor would be one of the best out of all of the ones they offer but it left me disappointed. The ice kick is much stronger than the other flavors, but that isn’t what disappointed me. Rather, the strawberry and watermelon flavors taste muddled and aren’t easily distinguishable. I get a little watermelon on the inhale and a little strawberry on the exhale, but the main part of the draw doesn’t taste like much that is discernible. It’s fruity for sure, but I think it could use some reworking.

Peace Ice

I love peach flavors so this one quickly became my favorite of The Fox’s offerings. The peach flavor is light but flavorful and features some ice to bring it all together. There are many fuzzy peach flavors out there and candying is overdone with peach vapes, so I’m glad that OXBAR went a different route with their flavor. It’s so good that I have a hard time putting it down!

How Do They Vape?

OXBAR’s The Fox disposables are nice little devices and they generally provide a good vaping experience. The draw is satisfying due to the 5% nicotine strength ejuice, with a dense amount of vapor that you can feel when you inhale. At the same time, they will be too strong for vapers who aren’t used to vaping on 50mg ejuice. Unfortunately, OXBAR does not offer a lower strength option.

Of the flavors that I tried, they all taste good. None of them tasted bad, so there’s definitely going to be a flavor from their line up that you’ll like. It’s all fruit and ice, but they’ll probably be releasing more flavors in the future.

The pull is nice for a disposable, with each one providing a tight MTL draw that ex-smokers and MTL vapers alike will enjoy. The draw activation works well too and doesn’t require you to draw too hard to get it to work.

Aside from my one unit that did not work at all, my other seven The Fox disposables all worked without an issue. One out of eight not working is concerning though; it’s a defective rate much higher than I would like to see. A couple of my units also did not come charged out of the box, but plugging them in quickly fixed the issue. As a side note, you can’t vape on them while they charge as they don’t feature pass through charging.

Verdict

OXBAR’s The Fox disposables are some of the most premium looking and feeling disposables that I’ve used yet. The metal shell and iridescent mouthpiece make you feel like you’re holding something more premium than a disposable, yet they remain easy to use and beginner-friendly.

Each one provides a nice MTL draw, good flavor from the mesh coil, and satisfying vapor. OXBAR says that they’ll last for up to 7000 puffs, which is easy to believe once you consider the 16ml of ejuice and rechargeable battery. After vaping on these consistently for just about two weeks, I have no doubt that they’ll last for the thousands of puffs that OXBAR claims.

Of course, no disposable is perfect and these disposables have a couple of cons that you should consider before purchasing. One of my eight units did not work at all out of the box, which is certainly not what you want to see. They’re also only available in 5% nicotine strength, so less frequent vapers or less heavy smokers will likely find them too strong.

As a whole, OXBAR’s The Fox devices are pretty good disposables and I really enjoyed using and testing them for this review. If you’re in the market for a premium looking disposable that is more than a hunk of plastic, then definitely check out The Fox.
