Our Verdict

The VMATE E is a beautifully designed device that uses high-end materials and it performs really well. The dust cap, along with the antibacterial materials used in the pods make this a very hygienic vape.

The device is also very easy to use, especially for new vapers who are looking to move up from a disposable and buy a more long-term device that will perform well. The two pod options that come with the kit will cater to both those who are looking for a loose MTL draw, as well as those vapers who are after a tight mouth to lung draw.

The 1200mAh battery, along with the low maximum wattage output of 20W really help the battery last a long time. I was able to get about 2-3 days of heavy usage per charge.

This device does not come without its cons though. For one, there is no screen or adjustable wattage. The device also doesn’t support pass-thru charging which can suck if you don’t have another device. However, none of these are deal breakers and may even be pros for some.

Overall, the VMATE E is a good pod device and if you’re a MTL vaper looking for an easy-to-use device then I can easily recommend picking one up.

The VMATE E is another beautifully designed device from VOOPOO. VOOPOO is one of the brands that we have grown to love because they always deliver solid, well-made devices that perform very well. The VMATE E is just another example of that.

The VMATE E, while being very high-end, does not only cater to more experienced vapers. It’s a simple and easy to use device because it does not have any buttons or screens to worry about. However, it does have airflow adjustment which offers a tight or loose MTL draw depending on your preference.

The most interesting feature of the VMATE E is the dust cap that helps keep lint and dirt out of the mouthpiece. Along with the 99% antibacterial rate of the silver ion mouthpiece, this may be the most hygienic pod vape on the market.

The VMATE E has a 1200mAh built in battery and will fire at up to 20W. The LED battery indicator has 4 lights that let you know exactly where your battery level is with every puff.

Design & Build Qualities

  • VOOPOO V MATE E - 3

The VMATE E feels very solid and you can immediately tell that it is made of high end materials. It uses a combination of zinc alloy and leather for the exterior design. Standing at 99.5mm tall, 30.5mm wide and 17mm deep, the device is rather portable and I had no issues with fitting it in my pockets.

This device is also super comfortable to hold and use. There are no buttons on the VMATE E and it is a purely draw activated device. I prefer this option over using a button as sometimes the fire button can be placed in awkward places; that is not the case here and I really like that.

For this review I am using the Classic Blue color (matched with a gun metal body) but the device comes in six different color combinations. There are three designs with the gun metal body: Classic Black, Classic Brown and Classic Blue. The other three designs come with a gold colored body: Green Inlaid Gold, White Inlaid Gold and Red Inlaid Gold. In my opinion, all of the designs look stunning.

The front of the VMATE E features a blue leather panel that covers the entire front of the device as well as the cap. It has a seamless strip along the outer edge of the leather as well as a stitch style pattern along either side of the panel.

I am not sure if the leather is real or not, however you can tell that it is of high quality. To me, it feels real. If it isn’t real then they used a really good dupe as the material looks and feels like the real deal.

I believe that they used some sort of glue to adhere the leather to the zinc alloy material, but that is just a guess. Whatever they used, it works wonderfully. I had no issues with any peeling or any pieces coming off of the device. I also accidentally left the dust cap in a sweater that went through the wash and the leather is still in perfect condition.

Just above the middle of the device you will see the 4 LED battery indicator that is visible through the leather. I really like how they have cut out the tiniest holes, just big enough for the light to pass through. The precision is spot on and again another example of the detail VOOPOO puts into the design of all of their devices. Near the bottom of the device the word VOOPOO is embossed in the leather.

The rest of the VMATE E features a gunmetal colored zinc alloy, including the sides and the back of the device. On the back of the device you’ll find the words VMATE E printed near the middle of the device, and near the bottom you will find the GENE chip logo.

The one side has “Designed by VOOPOO” and the other side has the adjustable airflow. Finally, on the bottom of the device, you will find the TYPE-C charging port.

VOOPOO V MATE E - 9

The dust cap feature of the VMATE E is pretty interesting. It is not something that you see often, as most devices do not come with a permanent cap, especially not one that is designed with the device and made of high-end materials like the VMATE E. One thing I did notice about the cap is that it does have a little wiggle when attached to the device.

Even with the cap on the device, you can still see the ejuice level. You cannot see a lot of the pod, but definitely enough to know if your ejuice level is low enough that your coil may get burned. The pod is tinted so I found holding it up to a light source made it a lot easier to see. This is useful to do with or without the cap on.

Another high quality and really well designed feature of the VMATE E is the adjustable airflow. The device does not come with many features but it does have adjustable airflow. From what I can tell, the airflow is meant for 2 settings but you can adjust it a little more than that to get it to your preference.

The slider used for the adjustable airflow is made out of the same zinc alloy material used throughout the rest of the device. It is also the same gunmetal color which looks really nice. The slider has knurling which helps to give it grip. I had no issues sliding the slider to adjust the airflow.

Pods

VOOPOO V MATE E - 7

The VMATE E uses the same pods as the VMATE Infinity. They recently updated the VMATE pods to have some new stylistic changes, like making them easier to see into, as well as featuring some antibacterial materials. I was able to see into these a little easier than the original VMATE pods but they are still tinted and holding them up to a light source solves that issue.

The VMATE E comes with two pods, one VMATE Cartridge V2 0.7Ω, and one VMATE Cartridge V2 1.2Ω. Both pods will hold up to 3ml of ejuice. The new VMATE pods are made with PCTG and silver ion, which makes the pod antibacterial. Silver Ion can suppress and kill bacteria and with this material VOOPOO states that it makes the pod 99% antibacterial.

Another feature of the new VMATE pods are what VOOPOO calls “Fresnel lens function” , which reduces light deterioration of your ejuice. This feature helps reduce the chance of your ejuice deteriorating over a long period of time — I’m talking weeks here. But when you keep in mind that most vapers will finish a pod of ejuice in just a couple of days, or a week at most, this seems like a fairly useless feature.

I found the mouthpiece to be super comfortable to use and I am a fan of how the mouthpiece is wide and narrow. Some mouthpieces can be a little too thick and can be uncomfortable to use. This is not an issue with the VMATE pods.

VOOPOO V MATE E Pod - 2

The new VMATE pod will hold up to 3ml of ejuice and you can fill the pod by removing the rubber plug, located near the bottom. I would suggest turning the pod upside down to fill as it makes it easier to completely fill the pod. When done filling make sure the rubber plug is secure and pop your pod back into the device. If it is the first time using the pod, give it 5 minutes for the cotton to saturate before you use it. If you don’t then you may risk burning your coil before you even get to use it.

Finally, the VMATE pods are designed to be leak-proof and during my time of using the device I had zero leakage. I didn’t even have any sort of condensation that sometimes happens with pod devices. They truly are leak proof.

Battery Life & Charging

VOOPOO V MATE E - 4

The VMATE E packs a 1200mAh, which is quite large for the size of the device. It uses Type-C charging which will charge the battery from dead to fully charged in just about an hour. The device only fires at up to 20W so I was easily able to get between 2-3 days of pretty heavy usage. The one downside for me personally was that it does not support pass-thru charging. Unfortunately, if you only have one device you will have to wait until it’s completely charged or unplug to vape.

There are 4 small pinhole sized LED lights on the front of the device. It will light up every time you vape to show you just how much battery life you have left. They represent the following:

1 Red Light: <10%
1 White Light: 10-25%
2 White Lights: 25-50%
3 White Lights: 50-75%
4 White Lights: 75-100%

Performance

VOOPOO V MATE E - 2

The VMATE E is a loose to tight MTL and can be adjusted to your preference by using the adjustable airflow located on the side of the device. To loosen the draw, slide the slider down and this will open the airflow. If you prefer a tighter draw then the slider should be in the closed, up position.

Expect a fairly tight, warm draw with the 0.7Ω pod. For me personally, it was a little too warm. The flavor was really good though and, combined with my 20mg Rocket Ice Pop nic salt, it gives a nice throat hit.

The 1.2Ω pod was the winner for me. It wasn’t nearly as warm as the 0.7ohm pod but provided a really flavorful draw. I used another 20mg nic salt with this one and the throat hit was perfect.

I definitely preferred the 1.2Ω pod over the 0.7Ω pod and I may have to go out and buy some replacement pods for this device as I can see myself using it for a while. At the current moment, it seems like VOOPOO only offers these 0.7Ω and 1.2Ω pods for the VMATE E.
