The bottom line
The Luxe X is yet another impressive pod vape from VAPORESSO. The flavor is better than most other pod vapes on the market and the design and build quality are excellent. As for the downsides, thereโs no draw-activation and the airflow (while effective) does not allow you to fine tune it to where you want. Itโs also large, chunky, and it has some weight to it, so itโs not as portable as VAPORESSOโs other pod offerings.ย
However, keeping the size in mind, the Luxe X is a great device for both MTL and RDL vaping. While there are definitely smaller devices for MTL, there arenโt many good pod options for RDL. If you want a RDL vape then youโre almost stuck using a box mod and tank, and that is where the Luxe X has an advantage in size. It also has a 1500mAH capacity battery which gets you a good amount of vaping time if you use the 0.8ฮฉ MTL pod, so it has an advantage over smaller pod vapes in that aspect as well.
So how does it compare to VAPORESSOโs other pod vapes? If you ask me, I think that it has the rest of them beat in every aspect except portability. It offers better flavor and a similar MTL draw to the OSMALL 2 and Zero 2, while also giving you the option of using it for RDL vaping.ย
As for value for the price, it looks like the Luxe X is available for around $40+ online, which is a little steep for a pod device, even one that delivers such good flavor.

The VAPORESSO Luxe X is a pod vape that claims to do what many pod vapes have claimed in the past. Vaporesso claims that the Luxe X is capable of both MTL and DTL vaping โ a tough claim to live up to. There arenโt many devices that can do both. Usually, these types of devices will do one good, and the otherโฆ Well, not so good. Could the Luxe X be different?
The Luxe X can fire at up to 40W and it comes with two pods: a 0.4ฮฉ pod for DTL vaping and regular nicotine ejuices, and a 0.8ฮฉ pod for MTL vaping. You can also rotate the pod 180ยฐ to adjust the airflow from loose to tight for each pod.
VAPORESSO has released many pod vapes recently, with the OSMALL 2 and X MINI being just two of them. Is the Luxe X any better than these recent releases? Is it any better than other pod vapes on the market for MTL and/or DTL vaping? Youโll find out in this review.ย

Design & Build Quality
The Luxe X has a design that is a lot like the X MINI that I reviewed previously. It has a clear shell that allows you to see the board on the front and it looks very space-age and futuristic. Judging from VAPORESSOโs page for the Luxe X, this is exactly the kind of look that they were going for so they definitely accomplished their goal with the look.
This clear shell is apparently made up of three layers: an abrasion resistance coating, a stain resistant coating, and the PCTG tube. VAPORESSO also states on the product page that they did โ1000 times abrasion testโ and that itโs โ200% strongerโ. How these abrasion tests were done, and stronger compared to what, I donโt know.
Ambiguity aside, the clear shell is crystal clear and does seem to be pretty durable. Iโve had it in and out of my pockets with my keys, Iโve thrown it in a bag when I went to the beach, and Iโve generally used it like any normal vaper would. After all this, the shell is still crystal clear and not foggy or scratched up like you would expect clear plastic to be. There are a few scratches on it so itโs not impervious or anything, but it does seem more durable than other clear plastics.
Underneath the clear casing, on the back of the device, is a holographic decorative layer. This layer has Luxe X on it, with the X being stylized and quite large. It also has a hexagon pattern that starts in the middle of the X and โradiatesโ outward which gives it a subtle, trippy design. This decorative layer spans the back and sides of the device but not the front which allows you to see the circuit board and AXON chip.
Above the clear plastic casing there is a metal band that wraps around the entire top of the device. There is a fire button on the front side and a VAPORESSO logo is engraved on the back side. There is also a wide airflow slot on each side.
When it comes to portability, the Luxe X is large and chunky for a pod vape. It also has a fair amount of weight to it when I hold it in my hand. Itโs 98mm tall, 31.5mm wide, and 21.6mm thick. Compared with VAPORESSOโs X MINI (which was already a chunky pod vape), the Luxe X is much taller and wider and therefore even less portable. Compared with another recent VAPORESSO pod vape, the OSMALL 2, the Luxe X is an absolute giant. Itโs still a portable device, yes, but not as portable as other pod vapes on the market.
The mouthpiece on the pod is wide and not too thick so itโs comfortable to use. The magnets that hold the pod in place are strong enough to keep the pod from popping out, but there is a little wiggle if you try to move it. The pod is also tinted so itโs not very easy to see how much ejuice you have left in the pod and you have to hold the pod up to a light source to really tell. Each pod will hold up to 5ml of ejuice โ a substantial amount for a pod vape.
How to Use the Luxe X
The Luxe X is button-activated only and there is no draw-activation. In order to vape, you have to press and hold the power button. Pressing the power button 5 times will turn the device on or off.ย
The Luxe X also does not feature wattage adjustment but it can fire at up to 40W. The wattage that it vapes at will depend on the pod that you use. The 0.4ฮฉ pod is for DTL vaping and will vape at 32W. This makes it best suited for regular nicotine ejuices. The 0.8ฮฉ pod is for MTL vaping and will vape at 16W. This makes it best suited to nicotine salt ejuices.
Getting started with the Luxe X is a hassle-free process. Since both pods have the coils built-in, there is no need to worry about changing coils or inserting them in the correct way. All that you have to do is take your pod of choice and open the rubber plug which is located on the bottom of the pod.ย
If you are using the 0.4ฮฉ pod then I suggest using regular nicotine ejuices. This is because nicotine salts will deliver too much nicotine with this pod due to the 32W that it vapes at and you might feel sick. If you are using the 0.8ฮฉ pod then feel free to use either nicotine salt ejuices or regular nicotine ejuices.
Fill up the pod and reinsert the rubber plug. Next, wait 5-10 minutes before vaping for the cotton inside the pod to fully saturate. Insert the pod and press the power button to vape.
Airflow Adjustment
The Luxe X features airflow adjustment but it isnโt an airflow control slider. Instead, you can rotate the pod 180ยฐ and this will allow you to change the draw to be either looser or tighter. Itโs a simple way to change the airflow, but it also doesnโt give you a lot of control over your airflow either. Youโre basically stuck with two airflow settings for each pod and if you want it a little together or looser then youโre out of luck.
There is a little airflow symbol on the side of the pod which is visible even when the pod is inserted. This tells you on which side the airflow hole is located. When looking at the front of the device, the tighter airflow setting is with the airflow symbol on the pod on the right, and the looser airflow setting is with the airflow symbol on the left.
The 0.8ฮฉ pod provides a MTL draw or a slightly looser MTL draw depending on the orientation of the pod. The 0.4ฮฉ pod provides a restricted direct lung draw or a less restricted but stillย RDL depending on the orientation of the pod. I will get more in-depth about the airflow a little later in the โPerformanceโ section of this review.
Battery & Charging
I mentioned that the Luxe X is chunky and heavy for a pod vape but at least thereโs some justification for it in the battery. It has a 1500mAh battery which is definitely on the larger end of pod vape battery capacities.ย
The battery life is going to largely depend on which pod you use because each pod vapes at drastically different wattages, but here is what you can expect.ย
With the 0.4ฮฉ pod which fires at 32W, expect to vape a little over 1 pod of ejuice (5-6ml approximately) on a single charge. With the 0.8ฮฉ pod which fires at 16W, you can expect much better battery life. I managed to vape over 2 pods per charge, so 10ml+ of ejuice.
There are 3 LEDs that light up each time that you take a draw and these LEDs are there to indicate your battery charge level:ย
- 3 LEDs: 60-100% Battery
- 2 LEDs: 30-60% Battery
- 1 LED: Less than 30% Battery
The Luxe X recharges using Type-C charging and the Type-C port is located on the bottom of the device. It takes 55 minutes to fully charge from completely dead, which is good for the battery capacity. While charging the LEDs will breathe and start with 1 LED, then 2, then finally 3 breathing LEDs. When it is fully charged the 3 LEDs will be solid and lit up. There is pass-thru charging so you can also vape on it while it recharges.
Performance
Vaporesso claims that the Luxe X is capable of both MTL and DTL vaping โ a tough claim to live up to. There arenโt many devices that can do both. Usually, these types of devices only excel at one or the other and itโs rare to find a device that can actually do both. Surprisingly though, the Luxe X is actually a capable device for both MTL and DTL vaping and it does both equally well. The catch is that itโs a restricted direct lung draw and not an airy DL draw like you may be expecting.ย
Another high point of the Luxe X is the flavor. I know that youโre probably used to hearing from other reviewers and YouTubers about how good the flavor is from every device, but the Luxe X honestly brings flavor that is just better than the rest. The way that these coils accurately produce flavor and make vapor that is not too โwetโ and saturated but still tasty to vape on is excellent. Itโs honestly one of the most flavorful pod vapes that Iโve tried.
The 0.8ฮฉ pod is excellent for MTL vaping and nicotine salt ejuices. Using a 25mg nic salt, I get a strong throat hit from the 16W output. It isnโt too strong, but you can notice that itโs a stronger draw than what you would get from a lower powered device like the OSMALL 2. With the pod on the โtighterโ airflow setting, the draw is a MTL one that is similar to the OSMALL 2. With the airflow on the looser setting itโs a looser MTL draw but itโs not a drastic difference.
The 0.4ฮฉ pod fires at 32W so itโs best used with regular nicotine ejuices. I wouldnโt suggest using nicotine salts. On the tighter setting itโs a restricted direct to lung draw that is warm and flavorful. Rotating the pod to the looser setting will get you a less restricted draw, but itโs still a RDL vape.ย
In normal day-to-day use, I did not have any leaking from either pod. However, after leaving the 0.8ฮฉ pod sitting for a couple of days with a 70VG ejuice I had some ejuice pooling in the battery. When I used the device regularly I did not have any leaking though, so Iโm not sure if this truly counts.
Verdict
The Luxe X is yet another impressive pod vape from VAPORESSO. The flavor is better than most other pod vapes on the market and the design and build quality are excellent. As for the downsides, thereโs no draw-activation and the airflow (while effective) does not allow you to fine tune it to where you want.
