Our Verdict

The KROS Mini vapes don’t try to reinvent the wheel and instead seem content to provide a competent and reliable vape experience. They also look and feel high-quality, fit easily into a pocket or bag, and sit well in your hand.

The battery holds up well and could provide a full day of vaping if you aren’t a super-heavy user. The airflow and the coil are pitched almost perfectly for the average MTL vaper, but there is also room for some tweaking should you find the draw too loose.

The range of flavors is currently quite small, but each one is well-rounded and enjoyable to vape. Unless you want tobacco flavor, there is sure to be something here you’ll find pleasant. My personal flavor recommendation is the Sour Apple Ice, especially if you want a great mix of freshness, sweetness, and cooling.

Once again, it would have been nice to see a range of strengths available, but if you are happy with 50mg of nicotine, these vapes are definitely worth a try.

The KROS disposable vape brand might not be as well known as some, but if they continue launching products as nicely made as the KROS Mini and Nano, it could soon be a favorite among vapers.

The device we are looking at here, the KROS Mini, slots comfortably into the middle range of modern disposable vapes. They provide an average of 4000 puffs, feature a rechargeable 650mAh battery, and come in a range of fruit, sweet, and menthol flavors.

Although not likely to win any innovation awards, there are some things that the KROS Mini vapes do very well, not least the flavor profiles and great MTL draw.

But is any of that enough to propel these disposables above the competition? Here’s what I thought after a week of testing out the KROS Mini.

These vapes definitely aren’t discreet, thanks to the vivid colors and solid black tank and mouthpiece evident in all the different flavors. That’s not to say they aren’t nice-looking devices, because they are. But they certainly aren’t as subtle as some disposable vapes.

The KROS Mini has a long, flat form factor that I found more comfortable to hold than the short square design favored by many current disposable devices. The ridged design on the front and back, along with a matte and slightly rubberized finish, also help to make them easy to grip.

When away from home, walking down the street for example, that long flat shape made it easy to slip the vape into my trouser pocket after taking a puff. And when at home, the flat base lets you easily stand it on a hard surface. Even if laid on its side, you don’t need to worry about leaks. The device I was using stayed leak-free in my pockets, backpack, after being knocked off a table, and in whatever position I left it in overnight.

KROS Mini Disposables - 6 Mouthpiece

The mouthpiece uses the wide, flat design often referred to as the duck bill style, that fits with the overall design of the device. Personally, I prefer a cylindrical drip tip when vaping, but even so, it is comfortable to use, tapers nicely, and is just the right size to get a good seal around it with your lips.

Branding has been kept fairly minimal, with just the KROS Mini name at the top and the flavor and nicotine percentage on the side. This helps make the KROS Mini look less like a disposable and more like a premium refillable vape.

Overall, they feel like well-built and well-designed devices, which have a reassuringly solid feel in your hand. Unlike some disposables, the KROS Mini definitely doesn’t feel like it will break if accidentally dropped.

Features

KROS Mini Disposables - 11

The KROS Mini vapes don’t really have any standout unique features, but that’s fine. When a disposable vape is this well-built, competent and flavorful, adding features for the sake of adding features is pointless.

Each device contains 10ml of liquid which, in my experience, holds its flavor well from the first puff to the last. That’s a full standard-sized bottle of vape juice, and even with heavy use should be enough to last a week or more. The KROS Nano, which offers a completely different range of flavors, contains 13ml and 5000 puffs if you want to try a longer-lasting device.

They are only available in 5% (50mg) strength, so you are out of luck if you prefer a weaker nicotine hit. It would have been nice to have a 30mg strength option or even 20mg, but maybe that’s something KROS will introduce in the future.

KROS Mini Disposables - 7 Charging Port

The 650mAh battery is fully charged on purchase and rechargeable via the USB-C port on the base. 650mAh might not sound like much if you are used to a pod or battery mod vape, but it’s about average for a rechargeable disposable. It only takes about 45 minutes for a full charge, so you don’t need to worry too much if you need to boost the battery during the day.

Also found on the bottom of the vape is both an LED status light and an airflow hole. Although this is common in several disposable vapes, I find it’s often easier to have airflow control on the side. Having them so close together on the bottom also means it is hard to cover one without covering both. That isn’t great if you want loose airflow but also like to cover the LED for discreet vaping.

Inside the KROS Mini is a high-quality 1.2ohm mesh coil which, in our testing, fires quickly, heats evenly, and offers almost perfect resistance for an MTL vape.

Flavors

KROS Mini Disposables - 10

The KROS Mini disposable vapes are available in seven flavors. This isn’t the widest range of flavors we’ve ever seen in a disposable selection, but each taste is distinct and well thought out. You can go for sweet fruit and candy, fruit with cooling, or straight-up spearmint menthol if you’re not into exotic flavors. The available flavors are:

Grape Ice

A fruity but not overly sweet grape flavor that works brilliantly with the nice hit of cooling ice. This was one of two standout flavors in the KROS Mini range for me.

Peach Ice

Sweet, juicy, and more naturally peach-tasting than some other similar flavors I have tried. The addition of the cooling ice works well to even out what can sometimes be an overly sweet flavor.

Sour Apple Ice

The second of my top two flavors. For me, Sour Apple Ice has just the right amount of fresh and sour juiciness, a touch of sweetness, and enough cooling to even everything out.

Straw Kiwi Ice

While sweeter than the grape or apple, the strawberry and kiwi flavors are nicely balanced. This is a fairly classic disposable vape flavor and perfect if you want a sweet, fruity hit with a touch of cooling on the inhale.

Mixed Berries

If you like your vape sweet, fruity, and complex, this is a great flavor choice. I miss a cooling hit on the inhale, but this is still an enjoyable fruit-flavored vape if you don’t mind the lack of ice.

Watermelon Candy

I found this quite sweet and it’s definitely more about the candy than the natural fruit flavor. Still, it’s an interesting taste, made more enjoyable to me by the very slight sherbert and menthol notes.

Spearmint

A very clean and refreshing flavor, with little of the sweetness some spearmint vapes can have. Just the right mix of menthol and cooling makes this a vape flavor I could happily puff all day.

The most obvious thing the KROS Mini range lacks is a tobacco flavor, although this is increasingly something that seems to be missing from disposable vape ranges. So if you prefer a more traditional vape experience, you’ll have to hope KROS adds to the selection in the future.

How Do They Vape?

KROS Mini Disposables - 9

Overall, the vaping experience with a KROS Mini is well-balanced. Some may find the draw is a little loose for an MTL vape, but this can be tightened up by placing a finger over the airflow hole on the base. A good amount of vapor is produced on each draw, with or without the airflow hole covered.

The taste holds up well, and there doesn’t seem to be much of the flavor loss that can sometimes occur when disposables reach the tail end of their lives. The 1.2ohm mesh coil, which is draw-activated, fires quickly and helps to produce even vapor flow throughout each puff.

At 50mg, these are pretty strong vapes, and if you are used to a weaker 20 or 30mg disposable device you might want to moderate the strength of your inhale at first. But, if you like a higher nicotine level, the KROS Mini certainly fits the bill and provides a pleasantly intense throat hit.

As mentioned above, the device is comfortable to hold and always feels secure in your hand, but I would have preferred the airflow hole on the side. I felt that would have made it easier to tighten the draw, particularly when walking down the street. I often had to flip the base around to check my finger was in the correct position, but maybe that’s just me being used to using a pod vape.

Verdict
