Our Verdict

The Argus Z is a very simple device that performs at a very high level. I can’t say that I didn’t expect that going into this review, because since it uses the Argus pods I already knew that it would be great. It’s not as fancy or customizable as the Argus P1 and it only comes with one pod, but it’s a great device if you’re just looking to vape without having to worry about settings.

My main complaint with the Argus Z is that it only includes the 0.7Ω pod. It would have been nice if Voopoo included the 1.2Ω pod with it as well, so that’s a bummer. Of course, you can always go out and purchase it separately if you want to try something different. If you want to know how that pod performs, you can check out our review on the Argus P1.

Fill the pod, draw on the mouthpiece, and you’re in business. The simplicity of the Argus Z is it’s strong point and I can easily recommend it to anyone looking for a great, straightforward pod vape.

The Argus Z is yet another small and simple pod vape from VOOPOO. It’s not quite as fancy as the Argus P1, but it uses the same pods so it should offer a similarly great vaping experience. The Argus Z comes with a single 0.7Ω Argus Pod in the box.

The Argus Z will fire at up to 17W, depending on the pod that you use, and it does not feature adjustable wattage or adjustable airflow.  It has a 900mAh battery that recharges with Type-C charging.

So who is the Argus Z for? Well, anyone who is looking for a beginner-friendly pod vape will want to check it out. There are no complicated features or functions; simply fill up the pod and you’re ready to vape.

VOOPOO is known for their great devices. From vape mods to pod vapes, their products have consistently delivered some of the best performance that we’ve seen from vaping devices. Some of VOOPOO’s most recent releases include the Argus P1, Vinci Pod SE, and Argus XT/MT mods.

Is the Argus Z another great pod device that you should consider, or should you pass on it altogether?

Design & Build Quality

  • Voopoo Argus Z - 1

The Argus Z doesn’t have a lot going on but it’s a nice device. It’s made of aluminum alloy so it feels very light but it also feels rigid and well made. It’s a rectangular shaped device with rounded sides and corners, so it’s more of an oval if you look at it from the bottom. The Argus Z is 91.45mm tall, 27.5mm wide, and 14.8mm deep; small, slim, and pocketable.

This device comes in seven colors and I’m using the Mint Silver color for this review. It’s a two-tone finish, with the bottom half of the body being silver and the top-half being a light blue color. This top half features diagonal ridges and three diagonally slanted LEDs for the battery life indicator. On the back side there is a Type-C charging port.

My unit is marked as a Sample so some things might be different from the production version. Printed on the back of the device is “Designed by Voopoo” and on the other side “Argus Z” is printed at the bottom. Not a lot of branding, which I like. It keeps the device looking clean.

The Argus Z uses the same pods as the Argus Pod and Argus P1. It’s always a good thing when multiple devices use the same pods, as this is a good sign that the pods will continue to be available for long into the future. They should also be easy to find at local and online vape stores.

The pod is very lightly tinted so it’s no problem to see the contents inside. It’s made even easier to check your ejuice level with the Argus Z because the pod sits in the battery in a way that leaves the majority of the pod sitting above the battery. You don’t have to take out the pod to check your ejuice level, which is convenient as heck.

  • Voopoo Argus Z - Pod and Battery

The Argus Z comes with one pod, a 0.7Ω pod that will fire at up to 17W. The wattage output is going to depend on your battery level, so on a full battery you’re going to get a higher wattage output and a “harder” draw.

The pod attaches to the Argus Z magnetically and the magnets are nice and strong. I’ve had the Argus Z in and out of my pockets and the pod has never come loose. It definitely gets a pass for how well it stays in the device.

Filling the pod can be done through a fill port on the side of the pod. This means that you have to remove it from the device in order to fill it, but I didn’t find this to be a big deal. The rubber stopper on the pod is a little thin, but it seems to work well at keeping ejuice inside of the pod. This pod can hold up to 2ml of ejuice.

Battery & Charging

Voopoo Argus Z Review - Charging Port

The Argus Z has a 900mAh battery, which I’ve found to be plenty for the 17 watts that it outputs. Each charge got me a couple hundred puffs, somewhere around 300, which for me was 2-3 days of vaping. Since the Argus Z does not have adjustable wattage and it only comes with the one 0.7Ω pod, you can expect to get about the same results.

Although the charging speed is not listed anywhere on Voopoo’s website, I would guess that it’s 1A charging. I timed the Argus Z at 45-50 minutes for a full charge. Not bad, but definitely not as fast as the Argus P1 with a PD fast charger.

Performance

Voopoo Argus Z Review - 8

The Argus Z is another pod vape that doesn’t offer any bells and whistles, but instead attempts to provide a simple and great vaping experience. There’s no adjustable wattage, no adjustable airflow, and no buttons to speak of. You simply fill up the pod, wait a few minutes for it to saturate, and then draw on the Argus Z to vape. It really doesn’t get much easier than this, and the Argus Z still provides a great vape for how simple it is.

The 0.7Ω pod that is included is great for freebase or nicotine salt ejuices, so you can use whichever one you choose. The draw is a mouth to lung draw that is more towards the tight side than the loose side, so it’s a really nice draw. There’s a nice warmth to the vapor and the flavor is great too. With 30-35mg nicotine salt ejuices the draw is quite powerful and very satisfying.

Voopoo states that these pods use a patented 3 layer leak proof design to prevent any leaking. From my time with these pods, they aren’t lying. I haven’t experienced any leaking front he pod at all, even after refilling it multiple times.
