The bottom line
There are fewer and fewer vape mods being released these days, so Iโm thankful that VOOPOO has stuck with their DRAG series of mods. I really like the DRAG 6. Itโs a beautiful mod, and itโs just as functional as it is good-looking. The design elements are all very clean, and even the precision control wheel, while it can be more difficult to use than adjustment buttons in certain situations, is an overall cool addition and rather easy to use.
The UFORCE-X Tank II is very good, too. Itโs slightly improved over the UFORCE-X tank, and still uses VOOPOOโs great PnP X coils, so itโs definitely worth grabbing.
Altogether, I think that the DRAG 6 Kit is a really good purchase, especially if youโre looking for another mod to add to your collection. For not much more money, you can grab the kit and get an excellent sub-ohm tank that is great to use out of the box with the included coils.
If you already have the DRAG 5, the upgrade to the DRAG 6 is less of a straightforward decision, especially if you like the ability to swap out your external batteries. If you like the idea of the built-in battery and the convenience that it brings in terms of charging, then upgrading makes sense. The UFORCE-X Tank II is, again, a really good tank, and it might make the upgrade more worth it, but you can always purchase it separately.ย
Overall, the DRAG 6 and UFORCE-X Tank II both get my recommendation, and Iโm going to continue to happily use them in my personal time.ย

Product Overview
It feels like just yesterday that VOOPOO released the DRAG 5, but it’s actually been nearly two years since weโve had a new vape mod in the DRAG family. Time flies quickly in the vaping world, but when you look at the release date of the DRAG 5, weโve definitely been long overdue for a new iteration.ย
Like every new DRAG mod before it, the DRAG 6 introduces new design features, such as a click wheel for adjusting settings, capacitive unlocking, and a larger 1.66โ TFT display. The DRAG 6 Kit also includes the new UFORCE-X Tank II subohm tank, which features several upgrades over the original UFORCE-X. This tank is compatible with all PnP X coils.ย
In what might be the most controversial change of all, the DRAG 6 is the first DRAG mod that does not take external batteries. Instead, it has a built-in 4400mAh battery which supports 3A Type-C charging.ย
Other specs include a maximum wattage output of 220W, three output modes (SMART, RBA, TC-TCR), and the new GENE TT 3.0 chipset.
If youโre looking for a new vape mod or kit, is the DRAG 6 the one to get? What if you already have the DRAG 5? Is the DRAG 6 worth upgrading for? I tested it out for two weeks to find out.

Design & Build Quality
Unlike the DRAG 5, which didnโt look too different from the DRAG 4, the DRAG 6 has some dead giveaways that let you know itโs different from its predecessor. It still looks like a DRAG device, but thereโs no mistaking it as an older one.
The biggest design change from the DRAG 5 is the addition of a โPrecision Control Wheelโ. This is a large, metal dial that immediately stands out when you look at the DRAG 6. Instead of adjustment buttons, you turn this dial to navigate the menu, adjust the wattage, or scroll through settings.
The dial is very stiff, with a healthy amount of resistance, so it takes some force to twist it. It also makes a nice audible โclickโ with every step, so in addition to the physical feedback of each click, you get auditory feedback with adjustments too.
While I donโt mind the click wheel, I donโt think it adds much convenience over traditional adjustment buttons, and in some cases, itโs actually less convenient. Take increasing the wattage, for example. With adjustment buttons, I could just hold the button, and it would scroll up or down to my desired wattage. With the click wheel, I have to twist it the entire way, which takes longer and is a lot more work.
That being said, once you find the wattage that you like to vape at, you wonโt be adjusting it much, and the click wheel works just as well as adjustment buttons for navigating the menu and changing themes or modes, so itโs really not all that bad.
Back to the DRAG 6 as a whole, itโs a bit taller than the DRAG 5 (by about 8mm), but still quite slim and slender for a high-wattage mod. It measures in at 97mm tall, 51.4mm wide, and 28.6mm thick, and it feels really good in the hand.
The painted zinc alloy body and the leather grip have held up well during my testing and still look good after two weeks of regular and constant use. I like all of the color options available, as the grip patterns look really cool and theyโre all a bit different. I like to keep it clean and simple, so the Black color Iโm using is my personal favorite, but the Metal Grey with the jean-blue grip looks interesting too.
Features & Functions
The DRAG 6 is the most powerful DRAG mod yet, which is good news if you like to vape above 200W. Iโm sure thatโs a small minority of the vaping population, but if thatโs you, VOOPOO had you in mind when making the DRAG 6!
Unlike previous DRAG devices, which have a maximum output of 177W, the DRAG 6 can be set to up to 220W. This makes it an ideal device for low-resistance builds and RBAs, as you can really push the wattage limits of your builds, but it can still be set to the ideal wattages for subohm tanks with prebuilt coils as well, like the UFORCE X Tank II and PnP X coils that come with the DRAG 6 Kit.
The display on the DRAG 6 is larger than the DRAG 5 at 1.66โ. Itโs a full-color TFT screen that looks really great, with plenty of space for the UI. The UI feels well laid out and roomy, and the screen is bright and vibrant.
There are three themes on the DRAG 6 that make the UI and vaping animation different. These can be selected from in the โThemeโ option in the menu.ย
Locking Modes
Another new feature on the DRAG 6 is capacitive unlocking. Touching the fire button unlocks the device, and it automatically locks a few seconds after you stop touching it. Itโs super convenient because you donโt have to think about locking or unlocking your device; it does it automatically.ย
If, for whatever reason, you donโt want to use the capacitive unlocking, there is also button unlocking. Clicking the fire button twice will lock or unlock the device, which is essentially the same as traditional locking on other vape mods.
Vaping Modes
As for vaping modes, the DRAG 6 has three. Notably absent is โECO modeโ from previous DRAG devices:
SMART mode: This mode is mainly meant for use with VOOPOOโs tanks like the included UFORCE-X Tank II, but it can still be used with any tank. This mode limits the wattage for the coil that you are using in order to keep it within a safe range. This prevents burning or premature wear of the coil, helping keep it usable for longer. New vapers will get the most out of this mode, although itโs still a nice mode to use even for a veteran vaper like myself. Just keep in mind that SMART mode sets the wattage range based on your coil’s resistance, so it may not always be accurate for non-PnP and non-PnP-X coils.
RBA mode: RBA mode is like the wattage mode that you would find on older vape mods. This mode will let you set the wattage to whatever you like, with no restrictions. This is the mode to use if youโre using a rebuildable tank, because it lets you set the wattage as high as you like. You can also use this mode if you find the wattage limits in SMART mode too restrictive, but keep in mind that you may burn out or shorten your coil life by doing so.
TC mode: The DRAG 6 has four temperature control modes: Ni200, Ti, SS316, and SS430. Thereโs no TCR mode, but these are the four most commonly used temperature-control materials. Unfortunately, thereโs no way to adjust the wattage in TC mode. The DRAG 6 automatically sets the wattage for you according to the resistance of the coil that youโre using.
Drag 6 Button Combinations

- Change locking mode: Press the power button three times. Navigate to โLock Settingโ using the precision control wheel. Choose your mode and then press the power button to select it.
UFORCE-X Tank II
I really, really liked the UFORCE-X Tank that comes with the DRAG 5, so Iโm happy to see VOOPOO upgrading it while retaining the core design and performance that made it so enjoyable to use.
The UFORCE-X Tank II now has a twist-off top cap as opposed to the sliding top cap on the original. While I didnโt have any issues with the top cap on the original accidentally sliding open, a twist-off cap is more secure and doesnโt make filling any more difficult, so itโs a welcome change.
The major upgrades, though, are in the airflow department. The UFORCE-X Tank II has not two, but three airflow inlet holes, although itโs still a top airflow tank. VOOPOO says that the intake and outlet directions form a golden angle, allowing for smoother airflow. There is also a scale from 0 to 3 at each airflow intake hole, allowing you to set and remember where you like the airflow.
Last but not least, VOOPOO says the UFORCE-X Tank II’s design has been optimized to prevent dry hits, which is never a bad thing.
Like the UFORCE-X tank, the UFORCE-X Tank II is compatible with all PnP X coils. These include a 0.15ฮฉ PnP X coil and a 0.3ฮฉ PnP X coil, which are included with the kit, as well as five additional coils:
- 0.20ฮฉ (40-60W)
- 0.45ฮฉ (25-32W)
- 0.60ฮฉ (18-23W)
- 0.80ฮฉ (12-16W)
- 1.0ฮฉ (10-13W)
These coils are rated by VOOPOO as being able to last for up to 100ml of e-juice per coil, which is some of the best coil life youโre going to get out of a subohm coil. Weโve also tested these claims in previous reviews, and they last for pretty close to what theyโre rated for.
The UFORCE-X Tank II has a 5ml capacity, which is down 0.5ml from the UFORCE-X, but it still holds a lot of e-juice at once. The base of the tank unscrews to change coils, and coils simply pull out and push in. The base of the tank is also quite deep, which gives rogue e-juice a place to collect without leaking. Iโve seen a bit of e-juice in there when Iโve changed coils, but not enough for me to be worried about it.
Battery life & Charging
The switch from external batteries to a built-in 4400mAh battery in the DRAG 6 will be loved by some and hated by others, and I can see why. Those who prefer external batteries will no doubt be inconvenienced by being stuck with a dead device that they canโt swap fresh batteries into, and thatโs a valid drawback to the DRAG 6.
But if you donโt want to have to worry about charging batteries in an external charger and simply want the convenience of being able to safely charge your device by plugging it in, you really canโt beat the DRAG 6; at least not as far as vape mods go.
A 4400mAh battery is an absolutely massive capacity. Even when vaping at 75W with the 0.15ฮฉ coil, I was surprised that it could last the day. Youโre unlikely to get longer than a day and a half out of it unless you really donโt vape very much, but even a day is pretty good for vaping at mid-high wattages.
As should be expected with a battery this large, charging isnโt exactly quick. Itโs rated for 3A, though, and when using a fast charger, the DRAG 6 goes from 0% to 100% in about 2 hours and 5 minutes. Thatโs a long time to wait for a device to charge, but thankfully, it can be used while charging, as it supports pass-through vaping.
Performance
The DRAG 6 kit includes the same two coils as the DRAG 5 kit: 0.15ฮฉ and 0.30ฮฉ PnP X coils. However, because of the new UFORCE-X Tank II, as well as the GENE TT 3.0 chipset in the DRAG 6, itโs a different experience than before, and in a good way too.
If youโre new to vaping, you should know that these coils are best if used with โregularโ, freebase e-juices. That is, not nicotine salts. I tested both coils using a 6mg/ml freebase e-juice, but theyโll do fine with 3mg, 9mg, or even 12mg freebase as well. I had previously tested these coils in my DRAG 5 kit review with a 10mg/ml nicotine salt, which worked fine with the 0.3ฮฉ coil, but I would not go any higher than that.
Leaving the airflow wide open with the 0.15ฮฉ coil and setting the wattage at 75W delivers a very warm and flavorful draw with a lungful of vapor. If youโre a cloud chaser, this coil will do it for you. The airflow can be turned down to 1 for a slightly restricted direct lung draw, but itโs still very airy, and it gets a lot warmer too. Flavor is still not quite as good as you would get from a bottom airflow tank, but itโs definitely one of the better top airflow tanks that Iโve used.
The 0.3ฮฉ coil is the more moderate coil of the two, as it doesnโt require as much power, but it also doesnโt deliver as much flavor either. Still, it provides a slightly tighter RDL draw. While I still enjoyed using it, I prefer the 0.15ฮฉ coil out of the two.
Smart mode works well for both coils, and I didnโt find the wattage limits to be too restrictive at all. I recommend using these coils with Smart mode, but if you want to set the wattage higher, you can always use RBA mode.
Temperature control mode customization is lacking on the DRAG 6, but itโs still usable, even if itโs just for here-and-there usage. If youโre a hardcore TC vaper, youโll miss having the ability to manually set your wattage, as the wattage set by the DRAG 6 can be hit or miss depending on the coil resistance that youโre using. Low-resistance coils donโt have their wattage set high enough, which limits how enjoyable the experience is. Itโs a usable mode for mid-resistance coils and enjoyable enough, but there are better TC mods out there.
Verdict
There are fewer and fewer vape mods being released these days, so Iโm thankful that VOOPOO has stuck with their DRAG series of mods. I really like the DRAG 6. Itโs a beautiful mod, and itโs just as functional as it is good-looking.
