Best ZYN Flavors Ranked: Using Social Media, Sales Data & More

Finding a flavor that works for you quickly can make or break your experience with ZYN nicotine pouches.

While the perfect flavor is a very subjective choice, the advice and opinions of other ZYN users can be truly helpful in picking a nicotine pouch flavor to get started with. Even if you already use nic pouches, learning what ZYN flavors other users love can help to make switching from another brand less hit-and-miss.

However, it can sometimes be difficult to sift through online opinions that vary from “Cool Mint beats everything” and “I start my day with Coffee ZYN’s” to things like “Anyone who uses Cinnamon must be crazy”.

With that in mind, we decided to trawl social media, Reddit, and online forums on your behalf, and analyze the hundreds of posts, comments, and responses to find the answer to the question: What is the best ZYN flavor?

How we test

ZYN Flavors Available in the U.S.

Best Zyn Flavors - 2

There are many more ZYN flavors available around the world than are available in the U.S. However, as most of the online opinions are concerned with American ZYN flavors, these are the ones we focused on.

  • Cool Mint: An icy burst of mint flavor.
  • Menthol: A cool traditional menthol flavor.
  • Peppermint: A classic mint flavor blend.
  • Smooth: A completely unflavored pouch.
  • Spearmint: Slightly sweet, less intense mint.
  • Wintergreen: Classic wintery mint with a hint of sweetness.
  • Chill: Unflavored with a slight chill of menthol.
  • Cinnamon: No menthol, just a sweet burst of cinnamon.
  • Citrus: A tart blend of lemon and lime flavors with a hint of sweetness.
  • Coffee: Warm and rich notes of freshly brewed mocha.

Best ZYN Flavors (U.S.): Reddit

Reddit is a goldmine of personal opinions, including about the best ZYN flavor. We looked at dozens of “Best ZYN flavor” posts and gathered data from nearly 300 comments and responses. We then counted the number of times each flavor was mentioned (or voted) as the “best” or “favorite.”

  1. Wintergreen: 45 votes
  2. Coffee: 40 votes
  3. Spearmint: 36 votes
  4. Peppermint: 35 votes
  5. Cool Mint: 31 votes
  6. Citrus: 31 votes
  7. Cinnamon: 25 votes
  8. Chill: 24 votes
  9. Menthol: 16 votes
  10. Smooth: 16 votes

Wintergreen is the clear winner here, with coffee, spearmint, and peppermint all vying for second place. The fact that coffee was popular wasn’t entirely surprising, with many comments suggesting it was the best flavor to start the day with before switching to one of the fresher mint flavors.

Best ZYN Flavors (U.S.): Other Social Media

Gathering ZYN preferences from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media wasn’t as easy as it was with Reddit but we managed it after looking through a hundred or more posts, videos, and reels.

  1. Spearmint: 18 votes
  2. Wintergreen: 17 votes
  3. Citrus: 16 votes
  4. Coffee: 15 votes
  5. Peppermint: 15 votes
  6. Cool Mint: 12 votes
  7. Chill: 10 votes
  8. Cinnamon: 10 votes
  9. Menthol: 7 votes
  10. Smooth: 5 votes

As you can see, the opinions of users on Facebook, YouTube, and other social media channels are broadly similar to those of Reddit users. Citrus was slightly more popular, and coffee was slightly less, but the top 5 flavors are almost identical across both lists.

Best ZYN Flavors (U.S.): Sales Data

We obviously couldn’t contact every online or brick-and-mortar store that sells ZYN for sales data but we still thought that it was worth trying so that we could get an idea if actual sales data aligned with the preferences shared by users on Reddit, Facebook, etc.

Eightvape and Vapesourcing, both well-known online vape retailers that stock ZYNs, were kind enough to share some sales data with us.

Best Selling ZYN Flavors at Eightvape.com

  1. Citrus
  2. Coffee
  3. Cinnamon
  4. Cool Mint
  5. Spearmint
  6. Wintergreen
  7. Menthol
  8. Smooth
  9. Peppermint
  10. Chill

Best Selling ZYN Flavors at Vapesourcing.com

  1. Cool Mint
  2. Chill
  3. Citrus
  4. Spearmint
  5. Smooth
  6. Coffee
  7. Wintergreen
  8. Cinnamon
  9. Menthol
  10. Peppermint

Interestingly, the sales data disagrees with what Reddit and other social media users voted for as their preferred flavors, with Wintergreen sitting mid-table at both retailers and coffee low down in the sales ranking for Vapesourcing. Of course, we don’t know if certain flavors were promoted above others or if there were stock issues, etc.

My Favorite ZYN Flavors

Alongside the best ZYN flavor data gathered from the various online sources, I decided to test the flavors myself. I have used nicotine pouches before this, but I am not a regular user and have only ever tried the Spearmint and Menthol flavors.

I purchased 6mg slim pouches for my test of ZYN flavors. Each flavor was tested three times, placed between my top lip and gum, and kept in my mouth for the recommended 30 minutes. Here’s my list in order of favorite along with a few thoughts about each.

  1. Spearmint: The only ZYN flavor I have tried more than once, and undoubtedly my favorite. A nice mellow mint flavor that lasts well.
  2. Cool Mint: Less minty than some of the other flavors, but tasted “fresher” to me.
  3. Citrus: I would have liked a slightly more intense lemon hit, but it is still an enjoyable and fresh flavor.
  4. Coffee: A surprisingly (to me) enjoyable flavor and my go-to for the first pouch of the day.
  5. Peppermint: A nice initial mint flavor, but it seemed to fade quickly during my tests.
  6. Chill: The cooling hit is nice, but I much preferred pouches with at least a hint of additional flavor.
  7. Menthol: I like mint but found this flavor strangely unenjoyable and quick to fade.
  8. Smooth: Easily my least favorite. Why wouldn’t you want a bit of flavor in your mouth?

Note: Unfortunately, Wintergreen and Cinnamon were unavailable where I live at the time of this test and so have been omitted from my picks.

ZYN Flavors Available in the UK and Europe

Although we haven’t included them in our rankings of the best ZYN flavors, users outside of the U.S. can choose from options like Apple Mint, Black Cherry, and Cucumber Lime. The exact choice will vary depending on where you are in the world, but on top of flavors Citrus, Cool Mint, and Spearmint, the non-U.S. ZYN’s include:

  • Fresh Mint: Menthol and peppermint with notes of vanilla.
  • Apple Mint: Cooling Mint flavor combined with green apple.
  • Black Cherry: Dark cherries with a hint of almonds and caramel.
  • Espressino: Freshly roasted coffee, with hints of chocolate and vanilla.
  • Lemon Spritz: Sun-ripened lemon, sour grapefruit, and rose water.
  • Bellini: Taste of peach with notes of fruit tea and green grapes.
  • Violet Liquorice: Subtle flavors of Violet and dark Licorice.
  • Deep Freeze: A rich flavor of frosty menthol and eucalyptus.
  • Cucumber Lime: Cucumber, lime, and a hint of cooling eucalyptus.
  • Cool Frost: Menthol with distinct notes of peppermint.
  • Dark Frost: Dark berry and fruit flavors topped with fresh menthol.
  • Original: Unflavored
  • Gold: Tobacco with hints of dried fruits, wood, and caramel
  • Sour Ruby: Fruity and slightly tart redcurrant flavor.
  • Northern Woods: Wild berry, herb, lavender, and citrus flavors.
  • Ginger Blood Orange: Mellow spicy flavor of ginger and blood orange.

Where these non-U.S. flavors are mentioned by users on social media, forums, and in reviews, Black Cherry and Apple Mint are often listed as favorites. It would be interesting to see where flavors like these would sit among the favorites of American ZYN users if/when they become available.

Best ZYN Flavor: The Winners

Best Zyn Flavors Final Rankings

While it is clear from the data gathered here that there is no single “best” flavor, a few consistently appear at the top of users’ favorites lists.

The four that myself, as well as users on Reddit and social media ranked highest on average (in order) are: Wintergreen, Spearmint, Coffee, and Citrus. Cool Mint also found favor with a good number of users.

If we also include the sales data from EightVape and Vapesourcing to rank the flavors, the ranking order looks a bit different, but the same five flavors end up on top: Spearmint, Citrus, Wintergreen, Coffee, and Cool Mint.

For the final overall rankings, we took the average of the two rankings; the rankings including the sales data, and the rankings excluding the sales data. Here’s what we get:

  • #1. Spearmint
  • #2. Wintergreen
  • #3. Coffee
  • #4. Citrus
  • #5. Cool Mint

For the worst ZYN flavors, Smooth ranked worst overall, followed by Menthol and Peppermint. Chill and Cinnamon generally ranked somewhere between the best and worst. While reading the comments online these last two flavors, along with Wintergreen, seem to be the ones that provoke love or hate reactions in almost equal measure.

ZYN Flavors Vs. Other Nicotine Pouch Brands

ZYN is one of the most popular and recognized nicotine pouch brands in the United States but certainly not the only option. If flavor choice is a key factor in your nicotine brand loyalty, it’s worth checking out what ZYN’s main competitors offer.

Velo: VELO offers a similar range of flavors to ZYN, with a few notable exceptions. Alongside Wintergreen, Spearmint, Coffee, Citrus, and Cinnamon, there are more exotic flavors such as Black Cherry, Dragon Fruit, and Citrus Burst. VELO pouches are available in 4mg and 7mg strengths.

Rogue: Rogue nicotine pouches are available in a wider variety of flavors than ZYN, making the brand increasingly popular with users. They offer the normal Wintergreen, Peppermint, Spearmint, and Original (unflavored), alongside some interesting alternatives. These include Apple, Mango, Honey Lemon, Berry, and Tabac (tobacco). Rogue pouches are available in 3mg and 6mg strengths in the U.S.

On!: The On! range of nicotine pouches isn’t as large or varied as ZYN, VELO, or Rogue. You can find the seemingly obligatory Wintergreen, Coffee, and Citrus flavors, along with Mint, Cinnamon, and Original (unflavored). The only slightly more unique flavor among them is Berry. You can find On! nicotine pouches in 2mg, 4mg, and 8mg strengths.

Juice Head: Juice Head is slightly less mainstream than ZYN, VELO, and the other nicotine pouch brands on this list, and offers probably the most unusual range of flavors. There are only currently five to choose from, in either 6mg or 12mg strengths. Flavors include Watermelon Strawberry Mint, Mango Strawberry Mint, Raspberry Lemonade Mint, Peach Pineapple Mint, and Blueberry Lemon Mint

Does Nicotine Strength Affect Flavor Intensity?

The nicotine strength of pouches is based on the amount of nicotine each one contains, and this is unaffected by the flavor. The milligram (mg) content stays the same regardless of the flavor. However, the flavor can influence how strong the nicotine feels when used.

For instance, mint or menthol flavors tend to enhance the sensation of strength, making the pouch feel more intense. On the other hand, flavors like cinnamon, berry, or even unflavored varieties may come across as milder. So, a 6mg pouch with a bold mint flavor might feel stronger than a 6mg pouch with a sweeter taste.
