Our Verdict

With so many disposable options out there now, it can be difficult to choose which one is a good choice. I found the Friobar R5000’s to function very well and the resin design is very eye-catching and nice. I didn’t notice any peeling, cracking or even anything more than minor scratches while I used the devices.

They offer a great selection of flavor options and the MTL draw is very satisfying. Even though these did not have adjustable airflow, I wouldn’t have wanted to adjust it anyway. The draw really is enjoyable as it is and gives a really smooth throat hit.

The battery of the Friobar R5000 isn’t the largest, but the 700mAh battery will last you more than a day and is rechargeable. I put my device to charge and went back 45 minutes later and it was fully charged.

These super easy to use devices offer 12ml of ejuice and up to 5000 puffs. They come in 20mg (2%) or 50mg (5%) nicotine strength and have excellent flavor options. So if you are looking for a great tasting vape, while also remaining simple, the Friobar R5000 is a great choice.

Freemax is one of the top brands when it comes to the vaping industry. They have built a company around manufacturing some of the best selling tanks and coils — the Fireluke Solo and the M Pro 2 are even featured on our best sub ohm tanks of 2022.

In 2019, Freemax entered the vape pen market and released the first of their Twister series vape pens, the Twister 80W. They followed this up in 2020 with the release of the Twister 30W. This year, Freemax has entered the disposable market with the release of their first ever disposable, the Friobars.

These Friobars come in 4 different varieties but for the purpose of this review, we will be talking about the largest of the bunch, the R5000. The Friobar R5000 comes prefilled with 12ml ejuice and a puff count of up to 5000. The devices I used for this review have a nicotine strength of 50mg but they also offer a 20mg version. The Friobar R5000, like all versions of the Friobar, does not have adjustable airflow. However, it is the only one that is rechargeable.

  • Type-C Charging

Design & Build Quality

  • Freemax Friobar R5000 - 6

The Friobar R5000 is a beautifully designed device. The resin design is eye-catching and the gloss finish really accentuates the resin-like look. Each device is designed using one color, with a range of light and darker hues. The white colored swirls create an almost marbled look that is quite classy.

The mouthpiece of the device is either white or black depending on the flavor that you purchase. The duckbill mouthpiece and the body of the device are separated but the edge where the two pieces meet is seamless, showing the high quality design and manufacturing put into this device. The mouthpiece on the Friobar R5000 is very comfortable to use and the duck-billed shape feels nice to vape from.

This disposable is on the larger size and is quite bulky. The height of the Friobar R5000 is 104.1mm, the width is 19.15mm and the depth is 19.1mm. The device is a hexagon shaped device with the edges giving the device a little bit of grip. This helps as the glossy finish is generally pretty slippery. The Friobar R5000 feels nice to hold in the hand. My hand wraps around the device easily and allows a solid grip.

Printed along the front of the device is the Friobar logo in silver, along with the version of the device (in this case “R5000”). The flavor of the device is located at the bottom of the device.

The Friobar R5000 is the only version of the Friobar line that comes with a rechargeable battery. The charging port is located on the bottom of the device. Just outside of the charging port you will notice two small holes, one above and one below the port. One of these holes is the airflow hole, while the other is the LED puff indicator.

I wouldn’t consider this to be the most portable device so if you like to travel with more than one flavor, I would suggest going for one of the smaller Friobar devices like the Friobar R600 or the Friobar R1600. Keep in mind that those devices also have less ejuice content and provide less puffs. They are also not rechargeable.

The Friobar R5000 is prefilled with 12ml of ejuice. This is on the larger size of pre-filled disposables but not the largest. They offer two different nicotine strengths: a 20mg strength that is suitable for lighter smokers/vapers, or 50mg for heavier smokers/vapers. Be careful when using the 50mg as it can cause headaches and lightheadedness if you vape too much and aren’t used to it.

Freemax Friobar R5000 - 8

You may notice that the battery on the Friobar R5000 is a smaller mAh capacity than that of the R1600 or the R3000. At first this may not seem to make sense as the R5000 has more ejuice and a larger puff count, but there is a reason for this. The R5000 is rechargeable, the R1600 and R300 are not. You can find the Type-C charge port on the bottom of the device. And yes, this device does offer pass-thru charging so you won’t have to wait for the device to fully charge and can vape on it while it charges.

The puff count on the Friobar R5000 is up to 5000 puffs, hence the name. I could not put down the Lemon Tart flavor and I did notice a flavor drop as the battery died. So I plugged the device in and when I went to try it again I was pleasantly surprised to notice that the flavor had gotten significantly better. I wish there was a way to tell if the device was dying but for a disposable it’s understandable.

The Friobar R5000 is a well built device. I haven’t had any issues with the device cracking or malfunctioning. Freemax even went so far as to have the resin design cover the bottom of the device, which gives it a more put together look. The seam where the device meets the mouthpiece is also well built. You can feel that the two pieces are separate but there was zero gap or separation on any of the devices I received for this review.

As I mentioned before, the puff activation LED is located on the bottom of the device and is rather small in size. When I take a puff from the device, the blue light works without issue. It is very discreet and is easy to conceal if that is something that is important to you.

Flavors

Freemax Friobar R5000 - 2

The Friobar R5000 comes in ten different flavor options. Most of the flavors are fruit based with the exception of two flavors that are dessert flavored. So many disposables now have menthol or iced cooling but the Friobar R5000 thankfully didn’t do that with all of their flavors. If you are a menthol fan, don’t worry, they do offer a couple mint options.

The Friobar R5000 also comes in two different nicotine strength options, 20mg (2%) and 50mg (5%). The five flavors I will be going over all came in 50mg nicotine strength.

I’m going to describe how each flavor tastes to me and what I think of them. Keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it, and vice-versa. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Lemon Tart

The name of this one may seem familiar. Trust me when I say that it tastes familiar as well. If you are a fan of Dinner Lady’s Lemon Tart flavor, you will love this one. This is a delicious flavored disposable centering on lemon with a mix of a pastry tart. The inhale is lighter with this one compared to some of their other flavors, but the flavor really pops when you exhale and the taste lingers for a while after.

Purpleberry Ice

This flavor is a little on the sweeter side. Immediately upon inhaling you can taste a candied grape flavor. This one is iced but it isn’t too strong and tastes like grape candy with light menthol.

Strawberry Melon

This is one of my favorites of the Friobar line. It’s sweet but not too sweet, kind of more like a natural sweetness. As you inhale you can taste the juicy strawberry flavor, and then you get a watery melon taste as you exhale. Afterwards, both flavors settle nicely on the tongue. It’s an excellent summer time vape.

Lemon Mint

I tend to steer away from mint or cooling flavors as they can sometimes feel like they are freezing my throat, but this flavor is more like a spearmint and is quite nice. The lemon is there but is subtle and adds a nice touch to the flavor. Not my favorite but I didn’t hate it.

Strawpina Colada

Another favorite of mine was the Strawpina Colada, such a delicious mix of flavors. As you inhale you can taste the main flavor of coconut, followed by pineapple. The strawberry flavor is light but you can taste that it’s there. This flavor is also not too sweet making it a great all day vape.

How Do They Vape?

Freemax Friobar R5000 - 1

The Friobar R5000’s are the largest of the Friobar line and they come prefilled with 12ml of ejuice for up to 5000 puffs. They are on the larger side of disposables as well but do offer a great MTL draw that imitates that of a cigarette. The flavors were all enjoyable and very intense. I wish the battery was larger than the 700mAh battery it comes with, but the rechargeability makes this a non-issue.

The MTL draw of the Friobar R5000 is surprisingly very enjoyable. These disposables use coils made with Freemax’s FM SaltCoilTech, the same types of coils found in their pod vapes. The coils are made with Freemax’s patented ‘Tea Fiber Cotton’ formula for the coils and that most likely contributes to the high quality flavor that these devices offer. The draw is also incredibly smooth on the Friobar R5000 but with a nice throat hit.

I didn’t have any performance issues while using the Friobar R5000 and did not have any leaking issues either. The draw activation worked every time and without any trouble.
