The bottom line

The Geek Bar Pulse is hands down my favorite disposable of 2023. The design is not too out there and the build quality is superb. The full size screen is very useful and allows you to accurately track your battery and ejuice levels at a glance.

The two modes, regular and pulse, allow you to choose between a MTL draw (regular mode) or a RDL draw (pulse mode). Even though it’s not truly adjustable airflow, at least there’s some airflow variation. I also really like that pulse mode increases the wattage to 20W, allowing for a stronger draw if you desire.

Another great feature is the close setting as it allows you to turn off the disposable; not something you often see. This makes the device child proof too as it prevents the device from being used.

If you are looking for a feature filled disposable that requires the bare minimum when it comes to maintenance, the Geek Bar Pulse is a great choice. It offers a large puff count, excellent flavor options, two different vaping modes, and a full screen display. What more can you ask for?

Over the last year, Geek Bar has released a number of disposable devices in varying sizes, puff counts and battery capacities. These include the Geek Bar B5000, Geek Bar Meloso, and Geek Bar X6000. Today, I will be telling you all about their most recent disposable, the Geek Bar Pulse.

The Geek Bar Pulse is one of their longest-lasting disposables, offering up to 15000 puffs when used in the ‘regular’ mode and up to 7500 puffs when used in the ‘Pulse’ mode. According to the Geek Bar website, the Geek Bar Pulse is also the world’s first full-screen display on a disposable device.

Each Pulse features Geekvape’s VPU technology and a built-in dual core chip guaranteeing the best performance from a disposable. Inside each Pulse are dual mesh coils that deliver excellent flavor and longevity.

Each Geek Bar Pulse comes filled with 16ml of ejuice and they are available in 50mg/ml nicotine strength. The 650mAh battery can be recharged using the Type-C charging port.

Design & Build Quality

  • GEEK BAR PULSE Disposables - 13

The Geek Bar Pulse is a little on the chunky side. The device is shaped like a box but the rounded and smoothed out edges make holding the device very comfortable. The Pulse is 83mm tall, 52mm wide, and 28mm deep. In addition to its chunky shape and size the device has some weight, at 82 grams.

Although on the larger side in terms of size, you get a high puff count rating and a full-color display screen, so it’s a tradeoff of size for specs. That being said, these devices are great for vapers who prefer to stick to one flavor at a time. They are a little too big to take multiples with you on-the-go every day, however they’re not too big if you are going on a road trip and want to pack more than one to take with you.

The Pulse feels extremely well built and the plastic body has held up shockingly well during my testing. There are no significant markings on the plastic body at all. Although the clear plastic that covers the display screen has some slight scratches, it’s nothing serious or concerning.

The Pulse comes in 20 different flavor options, with each device being a color that matches the fruit flavor inside. For example, the Strawberry Banana flavor comes in a yellow colored device. On the front of each device is a large Geek Bar Pulse logo on the top, with a planet printed near the bottom. The flavor of the device is printed above the planet. It appears that each flavor has a slightly different planet icon but overall the logos are very similar.

On the back of the device there is another GB logo printed near the top and the words ‘May The Pulse Be With You’ printed near the bottom. It’s a little corny, yes, but it’s easy enough to ignore.

There is an airflow adjustment switch located on the bottom of the device, however this airflow adjustment is different than most. Firstly, there is a ‘close’ option which complete closes the airflow and turns off the device—something super rare to see on a disposable. This option makes the device ‘child proof’ as you cannot take a draw on the device in this setting.

To turn the device on you can slide the airflow adjustment into either the ‘normal’ mode or the ‘pulse’ mode’ setting. When in normal mode there are two airflow holes opened. Setting it to  Pulse mode opens up an extra hole, making it three airflow holes. Pulse mode also activates a boost in the wattage, delivering a stronger draw.

When you turn the device on, the full-color display comes to life. The display screen shows the ejuice level and battery level in percentages at the top of the screen, the vaping mode in the middle and the ejuice level at the bottom. The ejuice and battery depletes in individual percentages, giving you a more accurate reading than if they were just simple icons.

There are slight differences to the screen when in regular or pulse mode. One is the color of the light that cascades around the screen when you turn on the device or take a draw. When in regular mode the cascading light is green, while in pulse mode it lights up red. When set to pulse mode, a rocket ship will also appear in the center of the screen as you draw.

The mouthpiece on the Pulse is plastic but features a silicone coating that makes it very comfortable to use. Despite the wide opening in the mouthpiece, I had no issue with any lint getting in there, even when tossing into my pockets.

On the Geek Bar website they claim that this mouthpiece is bite friendly. Now, I don’t believe that anyone should be biting on the mouthpiece of any device, so this is a strange feature to advertise. Maybe they mean that if it hits your teeth it will not hurt thanks to the silicone wrapping? In any case, I wouldn’t suggest biting on the device. I tested it myself (for science) and it will leave bite marks that make drawing on the device a little uncomfortable for your lips.

On the bottom of the device, right next to the airflow adjustment, is the Type-C charging port. When plugged in, the screen will light up to let you know that the device is charging.

Features

GEEK BAR PULSE Disposables - 3

When you think of a disposable vape, you don’t necessarily think of the most feature-filled devices. However, this is not the case with the Geekbar Pulse; this may actually be one of the most feature-filled disposables that I have reviewed to date.

The Geek Bar Pulse comes prefilled with 16ml of ejuice and, depending on which vaping mode you chose, you can get up to 15000 puffs (regular mode) or 7500 puffs (Pulse mode) per device. At the time of writing this review, these are only available in 50mg/ml nicotine strength.

Inside each Pulse there are three main components: Geek Bar’s VPU technology, a dual core chip, and a dual mesh coil. Regarding the VPU, I won’t bore you with the technical details, but basically this is supposed to heat more evenly, avoid burning, and improve wicking for a better vaping experience. Geek Bar claims that this produces better flavor, more clouds and a more consistent performance, and from my experience I would agree.

I am not entirely sure what the “dual core chip” means (there’s no information available about it online) but they claim that it is supposed to ensure  more stable performance. Throughout my testing, I have had no issue with the performance of the Pulse so whatever it is, it seems to be working quite well.

The dual mesh coil is supposed to ensure a longer lasting, great tasting device from the first draw right up to the very last. During my testing, I completely drained the Juicy Peach Ice flavored device and I can say without a doubt that there was no flavor drop at all.

The airflow adjustment and vaping modes work in unison on the Geek Bar Pulse. The three settings are: closed, regular and pulse. The closed option turns off the device and does not allow you to draw while in this setting. This is a great feature for anyone with children around as this makes the device child proof. Vaping in regular mode provides a MTL draw, while vaping in pulse mode delivers more of a RDL draw.

Now, can we please talk about the display screen because it is stunning. The Pulse is the very first disposable with a full screen, full color display. The color of the display is so bright and sharp. It is easy to read and surprisingly doesn’t eat away at the battery life too much. The display screen shows the ejuice and battery level, while also displaying the vaping mode. When you take a draw, the device illuminates a light show right before your eyes.

The Geek Bar Pulse comes with a 650mAh battery that lasts surprisingly long. I didn’t expect to get nearly half as long as I did when I saw the device turn on for the first time. I thought, oh no, the screen is going to eat away at the battery and I will have to recharge more frequently. To say I was shocked when I got 2+ days on a charge is an understatement. Also, you can go from zero battery to fully charged in around 40 minutes using the Type-C charging port on the bottom of the device, so downtime is very minimal.

Flavors

GEEK BAR PULSE Disposables - 1

The Geek Bar Pulse comes in 20 different flavors, however the slogan for the Pulse is a little misleading. “Board the Spaceship, Travel to Fruit Planet” makes me believe that all of the options are fruit flavored but that is simply not the case. It’s nice to see that there are flavor options other than fruit as some vapers will undoubtedly want variety. The full list of available flavors is:

  • Aquarius Grape Blow Pop
  • Blow Pop
  • Blue Razz Ice
  • California Cherry
  • Capricorn Dragon Melon
  • Fcuking FAB
  • Juicy Peach Ice
  • Meta Moon
  • Mexico Mango
  • Miami Mint
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Pisces Black Cherry
  • Sagittarius Cherry Bomb
  • Scorpio Blue Mint
  • Sour Apple Ice
  • Strawberry Banana
  • Strawberry Mango
  • Tropical Rainbow Blast
  • Watermelon Ice
  • White Gummy Ice

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Juicy Peach Ice

This one was an easy favorite of mine. This juicy peach flavor tastes exactly like fuzzy peach candies. This is a very sweet flavor and I think it could have been a little less sweet in my opinion. I did not taste any cooling effects from the iced part of the name.

Meta Moon

Some of these flavors have interesting names and before looking this flavor up to see what it actually was, I would have bet money it was grape flavored. Turns out the flavor is actually a fruit mix of strawberries, watermelon and papaya. I have no idea why I taste grapes but this was not one of my favorites either way.

White Gummy Ice

Ice Ice Baby, nope. Yet another Ice flavor that just doesn’t ice. This is your standard issue gummy bear flavored device. It’s sweet but definitely delicious and the candy flavor lingers long after you take a draw.

Fcuking Fab

Hmm, so what does Fcuking fab taste like you may ask? Well, fabulous. I loved this flavor. It’s a fruit filled mix with mango being the front runner here. It’s hard to distinguish the other flavors but together they are a great mix. I would suggest this flavor to anyone.

Strawberry Banana

This tastes exactly like a strawberry banana smoothie and I am here for it. Most of the time one of the flavors overpower the other but this one is the perfect combination of the two and has such a natural flavor. This flavor was the least sweet to me.

How Do They Vape?

GEEK BAR PULSE Disposables - 2

Geek Bar is one of the biggest disposable brands on the market, so when I am receiving a device to review from them, I’m expecting that they have put in the work into making it stand out amongst the rest. The Pulse is an extraordinary device that has so much to offer while still remaining extremely user friendly and requiring minimal maintenance.

The performance is exceptional. While the flavor names are a little out there, the flavors are absolutely top notch and are great from the moment you start using them right up until you take the final puff. The flavors are a little on the sweeter side but none of them are too overwhelming.

When used in regular mode you’ll get a MTL draw that I found to be just perfect. But when you are in the mood for a little boost you can select pulse mode, which increases the wattage to 20W and delivers more of a RDL draw.

The Geek Bar Pulse comes in only one nicotine strength, 50mg/ml. This may be a little strong for some users but I found it to be just perfect for myself. I would highly recommend these to smokers trying to make the switch as just a few puffs will quickly satisfy your nicotine cravings.

There is no puff counter on the device itself so it’s a little challenging to calculate if you will actually reach 15000 puffs on the regular setting or 7500 puffs in pulse mode. This can be even more challenging if you are switching between the two settings. However, you can definitely expect to get somewhere between 7500 and 15000 puffs and that makes the Pulse a great value for the price (around $16 USD).

Verdict
