Our Verdict

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ isn’t much different from the Mi-Pod 2.0, but I definitely like the small changes that they’ve fitted it with. It’s still an extremely simple device for beginners, but the performance is excellent so you’re not compromising flavor, battery life, or pod longevity for the ease of use.

Now that it is fitted with Type-C charging, charging times are much quicker than previously so this means less downtime overall and more time vaping. I also like the new textured material finishes as they are much more durable and also quite attractive.

One con that I’m disappointed is still an issue is how difficult the pods can be to remove. It was my least favorite part of the Mi-Pod 2.0, and it’s still my least favorite part of the 2.0+. However, Mi-Pod has listened to the feedback from the community on other points and outfitted the Mi-Pod 2.0+ with Type-C charging and a more durable design so I can’t complain too much. Maybe the Mi-Pod 3.0 will address the issue but we can only hope.

Overall, the Mi-Pod 2.0+ is a good pod vape that delivers in all of the areas that are important for a pod vape. Whether you’re a beginner vapers or an experienced one looking for a simple and flavorful device, I highly recommend checking it out.

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ is a new and improved version of the Mi-Pod 2.0. It still features the same lightweight and elegant design, but it has been given a few little upgrades to improve the user experience. These include improved durability, a less restrictive draw, and Type-C charging.

If you’ve never heard of Mi-Pod devices before then I’ll give you a quick intro. They’re made by Mi-One Brands, a company that specializes in simple, user-friendly pod vapes that can be used for either freebase ejuices or nicotine salt ejuices. Mi-One Brands were previously known as Smoking Vapor but they rebranded in 2019.

In addition to their pod devices, Mi-One Brands also owns and produces many different ejuices and disposable vapes. These include VaporLax disposables, VaporLax ejuices, and Mi-Salts.

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ has a 1250mAh battery and it comes with two 0.9Ω pods in the box. It features a physical on/off switch and a 4 LED indicator for battery life. Otherwise, it’s a simple device that does not feature adjustable wattage or adjustable airflow.

Do the small upgrades make the Mi-Pod 2.0+ a better device than its predecessor? Is it a device that you should consider purchasing at all? Read on to find out.

This device was sent to me by Mi-One Brands for the purpose of this review. However, this does not in any way affect my opinions or ratings of the device.

Design & Build Quality

  • Mi-Pod 2.0+ - 1

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ features some upgrades over the Mi-Pod 2.0, but there’s a reason that this is the “+” and not the Mi-Pod 3.0 — the changes are small. The Mi-Pod 2.0+ features the same shape, size, and general design as the 2.0 and stands at 72.5mm tall, 45.6mm wide, and 13mm thick.

It’s smaller than a credit card, but obviously not quite as thin. The slim design is nice as it’s easy to slip into even the tightest pockets. It’s also a very light device, weighing in at only 45g with an empty pod.

The biggest design change is the finish. While the Mi-Pod 2.0 came in four different designs that all featured a metal body with etching, the Mi-Pod 2.0+ comes in six designs that are all textured material.

This is a nice change because one of my primary complaints with the 2.0 was that the metal body started chipping and fading. These textured material finishes have proven to be much more durable and they feel nicer too. The textured material finish adds grip to the device and feels good too.

All of the Mi-Pod 2.0+ finishes are the same design, which is a scale-like pattern. I don’t usually like “scale” patterns, but the way that it’s been done here isn’t too over the top and rather classy. My favorite of the bunch is the “Sky Scales” color, which is white with light blue throughout. If you’re not totally into the look then there is a “Dark Scales” color which is black and makes it much harder to notice the pattern.

Each device features a lanyard anchor spot on the top corner. There are two keychain lanyards that come included in the box, but you don’t get a lanyard that you can wear around your neck. If you have a neck lanyard then you can use that, or you can purchase one separately. I found the light weight of the Mi-Pod 2.0+ to be good for wearing around my neck and it doesn’t cause any strain or discomfort.

The physical on/off switch is located on the side. It’s firm and functions properly, producing a nice click each time the device is turned on or off. Above the switch are four individual LED battery indicators, and below the switch is the Type-C charging port.

Mi-Pod 2.0+ - Pod

The pods that you get in the box have a resistance of 0.9Ω and they are the same pods as the ones for the 2.0. They’re very lightly tinted so it’s not difficult to see your ejuice level, however you do have to remove them from the device in order to check. The pods pressure fit into the Mi-Pod 2.0+ and they only insert one way. You have to line up the flat side and the round side properly, so make sure you do this and don’t go trying to jam the pod into the device.

Filling the pods is easy. It’s only a matter of removing the rubber stopper on the side of the pod and inserting your ejuice bottle nozzle to fill.

One thing that I’m disappointed to see hasn’t changed is the difficulty of removing the pod from the device. The mouthpiece is sloped and smooth, which can make it a hassle to remove it. My best advice is to make sure that the mouthpiece and your hands are clean and dry, get yourself a good grip, and yank it out.

How to Use the Mi-Pod 2.0+

Mi-Pod 2.0+ - Pod and Device

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ remains an easy to use device for beginners. It’s really as simple as vaping devices get, so anyone can use it effectively and get a great vaping experience. There are no settings, nothing to adjust, no complicated menu, and no need to change coils — anyone can learn to use and vape with this device.

Once you take it out of the box you’ll want to grab yourself your ejuice of choice. The 0.9Ω pods that come with the Mi-Pod 2.0+ can be used with any ejuice, whether freebase or nicotine salt, high or low nicotine strength.

Take one of the pods and unplug the rubber stopper that is on the side of the pod. Grab your ejuice of choice, insert the nozzle into the fill port, and fill up the pod. You’ll want to leave a little room in the pod for the best experience, so don’t fill it quite all the way. When you’re done filling, replace the rubber stopper and wait for 10 minutes for the pod to saturate.

Mi-Pod 2.0+ - Pod Fill Port

Insert the pod into the device and flick the switch into the up position to turn the device on. Now you can draw on the mouthpiece to vape and you’re good to go.

That’s all there is to using this device. You don’t have to worry about doing anything else other than recharging the device when it’s dead, and filling the pod when it’s nearing empty. After a few refills your ejuice might start to taste off or less pleasant and this is a signal that it’s time to change the pod out for a new one. When this happens, throw out your old pod and start using a new one.

The Mi-Pod website states that each pod is refillable up to 5 times but I’ve personally refilled a single pod more than 10 times and it’s still performing great. There’s no harm in using the pod until the flavor starts dropping off. In fact, you’ll save money on pods this way too so don’t go by their ‘refillable up to 5 times’ statement and instead use your own judgment.

Battery & Charging

Mi-Pod 2.0+ - 4

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ still has the same 1250mAh battery and that’s impressive considering how slim and small it is. Personally, I’ve found the battery life to be great. I vape pretty much all day every day and I’ve still only had to charge it every couple of days. That’s multiple refills on a single charge, which is pretty great.

There are 4 LEDS on the front of the device that indicate your battery charge level. These will light up when you take a draw, or when you turn the Mi-Pod 2.0 on:

  • 4 LED Lights: 4.0 – 4.2V
  • 3 LED Lights: 3.6 – 4.0V
  • 2 LED Lights: 3.3 – 3.6V
  • 1 LED Lights: Less than 3.3V

The Mi-Pod 2.0+ now uses Type-C charging, a welcome change. Charging is much quicker than with the 2.0 now and only takes around 45 minutes for a full charge.

Performance

Mi-Pod 2.0+ - 7

For this review I used the Mi-Pod 2.0+ with a bunch of ejuices from VaporLax and Pod Juice. These were all nicotine salt ejuices which ranged from 25mg/ml to 35mg/ml, and they were all quite different from one another in terms of the flavor profiles. These pods handle switching flavors really well. I went from a strawberry jam ejuice to a crush grape ejuice and after a few puffs, I couldn’t taste the strawberry jam. If you are the type of vaper who likes to switch up their flavor each time they refill, these pods are great.

Flavor from this device/pods is excellent. My ejuices deliver their full flavor (as good as in any other top pod vape) and don’t taste muted at all. The loose MTL draw is also nice, although I could personally do with it being a little bit tighter.

You can use either regular nicotine ejuices or nicotine salt ejuices with these pods and they will all vape well. All sorts of PG/VG ratio ejuices also do fine in these pods. I mostly used 60VG and 50/50 ejuices and I had no problems at all. The pods wicked well, even with chain vaping, and I did not have any leaking at all.

Finally, pod longevity is a highlight that I want to mention. I’ve refilled a single pod more than 8 times and it’s still performing very well. There’s a slight drop off in flavor, but not one that is all too noticeable. Depending on the ejuice that you use and how much sweetener it has, you might get more or less refills from a single pod, but use your own discretion and don’t go by the “can be refilled up to 5 times” statement on Mi-Pods website.
