Our Verdict
For cloud chasers and DL vapers who are after a more portable device, the X MINI fits the bill. The cloud output is impressive for such a small pod device and the flavor is good too. Aside from the performance, the design is unique and very attractive. It looks space-age-modern and the blue LED is a look that I have not seen on many other devices.
But of course, like any device, the X MINI does have some issues. The most major is the leaking with 50/50 ejuices. The battery life and charging times could also be improved but you have to remember that this is a small device meant for DL vaping and cloud chasing and so the battery life was never going to be stellar.
Overall I think that the X MINI is a great portable cloud chucker. If you’re looking for a device that will allow you to leave your big DL setup at home then I suggest checking out the X MINI.
VAPORESSO is showing no signs of slowing down with their releases and today I have another new device with me for review, the X MINI. This is a collaboration with vaping manufacturer MOTI, who are known for their simple but flavorful pod vapes.
VAPORESSO, of course, needs no introduction. They are responsible for some of the most popular vaping devices around like the XROS Nano, Target 200, Zero 2, and more.
The X MINI is a small, novice friendly pod device that can fire at up to 29W and it automatically adjusts the wattage for your coil. It has adjustable airflow and is meant to be a “mini cloud canon”. It comes with a honeycomb MESH coil and a built-in 1150mAh battery that recharges with Type-C charging.
If you’re a cloud chaser, is the X MINI worth adding to your vape arsenal? Read on to find out.
This device was sent to me directly by VAPORESSO for the purpose of this review.

Design & Build Quality
On the product page for the X MINI on VAPORESSO’s website, there’s a space theme going on with stars and a planet and a picture of the X MINI looking like it’s floating through space. With some devices this could be cheesy, but the X MINI definitely gives off spaceship vibes. It has a clear shell that allows you to see the board and it looks very space-age and futuristic.
Underneath the clear shell is another decorative layer that has a large “X” for X MINI, as well as “VAPORESSO” and “MOTI” printed in small font above it. This layer underneath the clear shell also has some waves emanating from the “X” and it looks pretty cool. The color of this layer will change depending on the color that you choose for the device. The metal band above this clear layer (which also has the airflow cutouts) will also change depending on the color that you select.
The X MINI is a little chunky for how short it is but it has a nice hand feel. It’s 73.3mm tall (or short, if you will) and has a diameter of 25.4mm. This is marketed as a “mini cloud canon” and it’s definitely smaller than other cloud chasing setups so the small size is a plus if you’re looking for a portable cloud chucker.
The fire button is amber in color and square in shape. It has a nice throw and it makes a satisfying click when pressed. The X MINI is not draw activated so you have to press this button in order to vape.
There is also no wattage adjustment; the X MINI will fire from 10-29W and automatically adjusts the power based on the coil that you’re using. It also adapts the power output while you’re vaping to the optimal level for your battery charge, which is also pretty cool. VAPORESSO says that this makes for more consistent puffs and a more consistent taste but I’ll speak to how true this is in the “Performance” section.
In between where the pod sits and the clear shell, there is a thick metal band. This metal band is made of aluminum alloy and has two large airflow slots. You can adjust the airflow by twisting the pod, which rotates freely. Twisting the pod allows you to achieve anywhere from an airy direct to lung draw to a restricted direct to lung draw (confused on what this means? Check out our guide on mouth to lung and direct lung vaping).
One design feature that I really like about the X MINI is the LED. The entire bottom of the device glows blue when you insert the pod or take a draw and it looks awesome. It’s an even glow, not a pinpoint LED, so it looks great and makes the X MINI just that much more attractive.
X MINI Pod
The pod for the X MINI is completely clear, which I always like to see. The drip tip is built into the pod and is a medium size so it’s a good size for DL vaping. The pod has 4 strong magnets on the bottom which secure it to the battery nicely. There is almost no wiggle to the pod when it is inserted in the battery, and it’s held in place firmly enough that it won’t come out accidentally.
This pod will hold 4ml of ejuice (or 2ml if you’re in the UK). It takes special X coils and one X35 coil comes included in the box. This X35 coil is a honeycomb mesh coil with a resistance of 0.35Ω so it’s really only meant for use with regular nicotine ejuices. However, if you have very low strength nic salts, like 20mg or less, and you are a high nicotine vaper, then you can probably get away with using them. Still, I suggest using regular nicotine ejuices for the best experience with this device.
The coil push-fits into the bottom of the pod and there are no notches or sides to line up. The coil inserts quite easily and sits snug in the pod. There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the pod so you have to remove it from the battery in order to fill the pod. This means that you have to remove the X MINI pod in order to fill, which isn’t a big deal but I thought that I would mention this.
Battery & Charging
The X MINI has an 1150mAh built-in battery, which is a decent battery capacity for a pod of this size. However, that doesn’t necessarily translate to good battery life. I managed to vape 1 full pod per charge, which is 4ml of ejuice. It could be worse, but it could also be much better.
Something that could also be better is the LED indicator light. It looks cool, yes, but it doesn’t help very much with gauging your battery life. The LED remains blue the entire time that the battery is draining and begins to blink when your battery is in need of a charge. Different colors to let you know where your battery is sitting would have been ideal.
Charging the X MINI takes just under an hour and a half (85 minutes) using a Type-C charger that is plugged into the wall. Again, it could be worse but it could also be much better.
Performance
So how does this mini cloud canon perform? Well, if you’re a DL vaper then the X MINI is great. Of course, it’s not as powerful as a box mod and tank setup, or even a larger pod mod, but for the portability that you get with it the performance is good.
I used two different 6mg regular nicotine ejuices with the X MINI, one 70VG and one 50/50. With the 70VG ejuice the X MINI has no problems wicking and allows for long draws with the resulting large clouds when the airflow is fully open.
Leaving the airflow open gives an airy DL draw that you can blow surprisingly large clouds with. If you close down the airflow you can get a restricted DL draw that is also nice but provides less clouds. Flavor is good too thanks to the honeycomb mesh coil. I had only slight condensation with 70VG ejuices and no actual leaking.
With 50/50 ejuices the X MINI performs similarly well, although I experienced leaking with ejuice pooling in the battery under the pod. Because of this, I used my 70VG ejuices more often than the 50/50 just to minimize any leaking.
Verdict
