Our Verdict
VOOPOO set out to deliver a single battery version of the DRAG 4 and they’ve succeeded with the M100S. It’s probably the best single battery mod on the market thanks to it taking a 21700 battery, it’s good battery life, excellent power and TC mode performance, and reliable and consistent output.
The design definitely does it a few favors too. I’m absolutely sold on the wood panel series of the M100S as I think that it’s super unique looking and impressive that VOOPOO managed to implement the wood panels so well. The M100S is comfortable in the hand and a nice size for a mod that takes a single 21700.
If you’re thinking of purchasing the M100S, you would be wise to pick up the kit that includes the UFORCE-L. It’s really a great tank and since it’s top airflow, you won’t have any issues with leaking. The fact that it’s a top airflow tank doesn’t take away much at all from the flavor and performance either, and since it’s compatible with so many PnP coils you’ll never be stuck searching for a shop that sells them.
All around, the M100S is an excellent vape mod and I can easily recommend it. The UFORCE-L tank is also stellar, so picking up the kit is a good idea.
VOOPOO’s DRAG series of devices have always been the ‘cream of the crop’ when it comes to vape mods. Today, I’ll be reviewing another addition to the DRAG family — the DRAG M100S.
The DRAG M100S is a single battery mod based on VOOPOO’s DRAG 4 device. It takes a single 18650 battery or 21700 battery for power and can output up to a maximum of 100W. The M100S features the GENE.TT 2.0 chip which brings SMART, RBA, ECO, and TC modes to the table. It also features a physical switch which can be set to a few different functions.
The M100S is basically a slimmer, less powerful DRAG 4. It comes with all of the same features and a similar design; and is it ever a looker.
If you opt for the M100S kit, then you’ll also get the UFORCE-L tank. While I previously reviewed this tank with the DRAG 4, I’ll go over the tank again in this review.
The UFORCE-L is a top airflow tank with a 25.5mm diameter tank and a 5.5ml capacity. It takes VOOPOO’s PnP coils, and boy are there a lot of them available. This makes it a really versatile tank as there’s pretty much a coil for everyone.
Is the M100S a worthy addition to VOOPOO’s prestigious DRAG series of mods?

Design & Build Quality
As this is the single battery version of the DRAG 4, the similarities between the M100S and its dual battery counterpart are hard to miss. With the two devices side by side, they’re basically two sides of the same coin.
The M100S is a little taller and wider than the DRAG 4, but being a single battery mod, it’s not as deep. The dimensions are 91mm tall, 30mm wide, and 36mm deep, which is a nice size considering that the M100S can take a 21700 battery. The rounded sides and back conform nicely to my hand and it feels natural to hold and use it.
The design hasn’t changed much from the DRAG 4 and the M100S looks and feels just as premium. There are two series of finishes/colors available: the matte finish series and the wood series. Unfortunately, there’s no resin series like for the DRAG 4.
The matte finish series comes in three colors which are Silver & Black, Red & Black, and Cyan & Blue. As the name suggests, these colors have a matte finish which looks very pleasing to the eye. VOOPOO uses an 800℃ hot forging process and 8 different nanometer-scale polishing processes to achieve this matte finish look (which honestly sounds a little extreme) but apparently the good looks don’t come easy!
The wood finish series is a bit more down to earth and features solid wood panels, just like the wood finishes for the DRAG 4. The wood series comes in two colors which are Black & Darkwood and Antique Brass & Padauk.
I’ve been using the wood series Antique Brass & Padauk M100S as my daily driver and it’s basically like vaping with a work of art. That sounds a little ridiculous, I know, but it’s honestly the truth. This is real wood that is on the M100S and you can see the little natural imperfections in the panels. This is really cool and different from the pristine and perfect panels that you get with artificially created materials.
Another nice touch with the wood panels is that “DRAG M100S” is engraved on one of them. It’s very well machined with nice minimal branding.
The rest of the M100S design is pretty standard as far as mods go. My unit has a brushed finish on all of the metal, which can be found on the front, sides, and back of the M100S. The design and shape of the metal bezel is the same as the DRAG 4, which gives it that closely related look.
There’s three buttons, a 1.25” color display, and a physical switch on the front of the M100S. The buttons on my unit are quite firm, however they do have the tiniest bit of movement side-to-side which creates a rattling noise when they’re touched. The DRAG 4 doesn’t have this issue, despite using the same buttons.
The display is crisp and clear, featuring the same UI as the DRAG 4 and other recent VOOPOO devices.
The physical switch can be switched to the right to perform one of a few different functions, which can be chosen in the settings menu. By default, it locks the entire device, which is useful for when you’re putting the M100S in your pocket. Just below the switch is the Type-C charging port.
The bottom of the M100S is where you’ll find the switch to open the battery door. The M100S can take an 18650/21700 battery and it includes an adapter. The battery door is hinged but feels solid and doesn’t wiggle or rattle. It seems reasonably secure and the switch is recessed to prevent the door from accidentally opening.
Features & Functions
The M100S is the single battery version of the DRAG 4 and so it comes with an identical set of features and settings. The only difference is that the M100S has a maximum wattage output of 100W (whereas the DRAG 4 can fire at up to 177W).
There are four different modes: Smart, RBA, Eco, and TC. Under TC mode you can select from four of the most popular materials: Ni200, Titanium, Stainless Steel 316, or Stainless Steel 430. There is no TCR mode and no way to change the TCR value for any of the four preset materials.
Smart Mode is like a safer, more controlled wattage mode. It works best with VOOPOO’s tanks and coils, like the UFORCE-L tank and PnP coils that you get with the kit, but you can really use Smart Mode with any tank and coil.
What Smart Mode does is set the optimal wattage for the coil, as well as restrict the maximum wattage. This prevents you from overpowering and burning your coil, which makes it great for new vapers or for those who want to remain in the ‘safe’ limits for the coil (as determined by VOOPOO based on the coil resistance).
RBA mode is your standard wattage mode that you would find on other mods. You can set the wattage to whatever you like, with no restrictions or nannying. If you’re using a non-VOOPOO tank or a rebuildable, I suggest using this mode as it will give you the freedom to set your wattage to where you want it.
ECO mode is here to save battery life. The M100S will give you a prompt when the battery is at 20%, asking you if you want to enable ECO mode. This mode can apparently prolong usage times by 10%, but I didn’t use it much myself. Instead, when the battery got low, I just swapped in one of my spare batteries (and I highly suggest that you keep a couple spare batteries so that you can do the same).
The display on the M100S shows your wattage, mode, a battery life indicator (with percentage), voltage, puff counter, coil resistance, and puff time.
Changing modes can be done by holding both adjustment buttons together. This will bring up a menu where you can change modes, change the color of the UI, reset the puff counter, or change the function of the locking switch.
The locking switch can be set to perform three functions: lock the entire device, lock only the adjustment buttons, or power on/off. I preferred using it to lock the adjustment buttons so that I didn’t accidentally change my wattage, but if you throw your mods in your pocket or purse often then leaving it to lock the entire device might be the better idea.
DRAG M100S Button Combinations
- Power On/Off: Press the power button five times.
- Enter the settings menu: Press and hold both adjustment buttons. Use the adjustment buttons and power button to navigate the menu.
- Change modes: Press and hold both adjustment buttons. Navigate to “Mode” using the adjustment buttons. Choose your mode and then press the power button to select it.
UFORCE-L TANK
If you opt for the M100S kit then you’ll also get the UFORCE-L Tank. This tank is a top airflow tank, which might make you think twice about it, but it’s actually very good. So good, in fact, that it earned a spot on our list of best sub ohm tanks.
Because it’s a top airflow tank, the chances of it leaking are slim to none. There are three airflow slots and the airflow is fully adjustable. The AFC ring rotates freely without a stopper so it can be set to wherever you like, whether open, closed, or anywhere in between.
The 810 drip tip is nice but removable if you wish to change it out for another one. But be warned, it’s in there very snugly and takes some effort to remove. I actually thought that it wasn’t removable at first, but a little bit of trying will get it out of there.
The UFORCE-L comes with two of VOOPOO’s new PnP coils, a PnP-TW15 coil (0.15Ω) and a PnP-TW20 coil (0.20Ω). These coils have purple o-rings on them whereas older PnP coils have red o-rings. The UFORCE-L is compatible with all PnP coils, but you’ll get the maximum flavor and vaping experience out of this tank by using the newer coils.
These coils have really good longevity. In the past, I’ve vaped 20ml+ of ejuice through each of these coils and only then did I start to notice the smallest bit of flavor drop. VOOPOO says that these coils can last for as long as 40ml and that’s definitely possible if you use an ejuice that is light on the sweetener.
This tank has a 5.5ml capacity and doesn’t come with a straight glass, at least not with the M100S kit. You also get a spare bubble glass in the box.
The top cap can be removed with a quarter turn, revealing a silicone lined top with two fill port locations. You can use either one to fill and the other one acts as an air-relief hole.
The UFORCE-L tank has a base that you have to unscrew in order to insert or remove coils. This base also functions to trap any ejuice that may leak out of the bottom of the coil so it’s basically a leak-proof tank. I’ve been routinely inspecting the base of the tank while I’ve been using it and there’s been small droplets of ejuice and some condensation, but no major amounts of ejuice.
Once you have the base unscrewed, installing a coil is simply a matter of pushing it into the tank.
All of the threading on the UFORCE-L is really smooth, so good on Voopoo here. I also like the general look of the tank. There’s an icon that kind of looks like cerberus (the three headed dog) on the tank which feels a little out of place, but otherwise it’s a nice tank.
Performance
The DRAG M100S looks a lot like the DRAG 4 and it also performs a lot like it too. While I’m sure that it would be a great mod with just about any tank out there, it does really well with the UFORCE-L so picking up the kit is not a bad idea at all.
The 0.15Ω coil is really great from 70-80W. 80W is the maximum wattage that you can go if you’re using Smart Mode but it’s plenty for this coil.
The M100S delivers power instantly and it definitely feels like I’m getting all 80W out of the mod. There’s plenty of flavor from this coil and a nice warm vape which is exactly what I would want from a 0.15Ω coil. Closing off the airflow a bit is good but even leaving it fully open is a great vape, especially if you’re after some clouds.
The 0.20Ω coil is a similar story. It only goes up to 60W in Smart Mode so I went into RBA mode just to push it a bit more to 65W. The flavor isn’t as good as the 0.15Ω coil but still plenty. The M100S does a good job of outputting the power that you want, all without faltering even a bit during the draw.
The big plus for the M100S is that it can take a 21700 battery. This allows you to vape for longer (at least if you’re using a good, high-capacity 21700), and means that battery life isn’t too shabby even when vaping at the higher wattages that these coils need to perform at their best.
The temperature control mode performance is also very good and I can tell that VOOPOO has been doing some research on how to make it better. I used SS316L coils and the M100S is pretty accurate and reliable for TC vaping. Although not quite as good as a DNA mod (which mod is), I can’t knock the TC capabilities of the M100S.
