Our Verdict

Mi-Pod has done an excellent job with the Mi-Pod Pro+. Although it may not have the features and adjustability of other pod devices, it still delivers a great vaping experience complete with great flavor. For anyone using nicotine salts or lower strength regular nicotine ejuices, the power output is perfect. I would have preferred if the draw was just a little tighter, but the loose MTL draw that it delivers is still very enjoyable.

There are a few drawbacks to the device, but the biggest drawback is also this device’s biggest pro — the simplicity. Newer vapers and vapers who are looking for a simple device will love how easy it is to use, but anyone looking for a more customizable experience is going to be disappointed and should look at other pod devices.

As for other drawbacks, they are minor but could make or break your decision to get this device. The pod is difficult to remove, the ejuice viewing window is not very useful, and the LED indicator is hard to see because it only lights up when you’re vaping.

On the whole, I really liked using the Mi-Pod Pro+ and I can easily recommend it to vapers looking for a new and simple pod device.

The Mi-Pod Pro+ is a new and lightly upgraded version of the original Mi-Pod Pro. It retains all of the things that made the original so great, like ease of use and portability, but it now features Type-C charging to bring it in-line with other modern pod vapes.

The Mi-Pod Pro+ comes with two 0.9Ω pods which have the coil built-in. It only features a single button, the power button, and there are no modes or settings to adjust. There’s no adjustable airflow and no adjustable wattage, so how it vapes is what you get. This makes this device best suited to new vapers, or vapers who want a simple device.

Mi-Pod’s devices have generally always performed well, and even though the Mi-Pod Pro+ appears to be a simple device, I’m expecting it to deliver flavor that is just as great as the Mi-Pod 2.0.

Does the Mi-Pod Pro+ live up to these expectations, or is it a pod device that you should pass on?

Design & Build Quality

  • Mi-Pod Pro+ - 1

The best way to describe the design of the Mi-Pod Pro+ is ‘classy’. I’m using the ‘Black Raw’ version for this review and the textured leather material looks and feels stylish. There are 12 colors available, and most of them have this same classy look and feel, but there are also a few that are more cartoonish and which look almost like toys.

I like the size of the device. It’s a square shaped pod vape, and it’s very light and equally portable. It’s 55mm tall, 53mm wide, and 15mm thick, so it’s no trouble to put it into a pocket or throw it into a bag. It also has a lanyard anchor spot if you want to use a lanyard, but it doesn’t come with one in the box.

A cool but rather useless feature of the Mi-Pod Pro+ is the “ejuice viewing window”. I say this in quotes because you can only see the bottom portion of the pod through this window, and the bottom portion of the pod doesn’t hold any ejuice. This window is in the shape of the Mi-Pod logo and it looks cool at least, almost like a bow tie, which just adds to the classy look of the device.

There’s an LED indicator that shines through from under the pod, and through the window each time that you take a draw. Unfortunately, it doesn’t light up in any other situation. It doesn’t light up when you insert or remove the pod, or when you press the power button.

This makes it extremely awkward to see your battery charge level, as the color of the LED indicates your battery life, and the LED turns off as soon as you stop drawing. You really have to strains your eyes to look down at the LED. It’s possible, but it’s uncomfortable.

Mi-Pod Pro+ - 5

The pod pressure fits and clicks into the device. You can only insert the pod one way; with the airflow hole facing outwards.

On one side of the device is where you’ll find the Type-C charging port, which is an upgrade from the Micro-USB charging that was present on the original.

The power button is located just below the charging port. It’s firm and clicky, and feels responsive and nice to use.

I like how the Mi-Pod Pro+ looks and feels in the hand. It’s a really nice device, and it’s lightweight without feeling cheap. I also like the simplicity of the design, which is a big plus for new vapers. Even as an experienced vaper myself, I can appreciate the minimalist approach that Mi-Pod has taken with the Mi-Pod Pro+.

Features

Mi-Pod Pro+ - 8

This is the biggest pro to the Mi-Pod Pro+, or the biggest con, depending on how you look at it — there’s no features, modes, or settings to adjust. It’s a truly simple, ready out-of-the-box sort of pod vape.

Getting started with this device couldn’t be easier. Take it out of the box and choose a pod. It doesn’t matter which one you use, as they are both the same. You want to unplug the rubber stopper on the side of the pod, and then fill it up with your favorite ejuice. Mid to high strength nicotine salt ejuices or low strength regular nicotine ejuices will do best in these pods. When you’re done filling, replace the rubber stopper and wait for about 5 minutes before you start vaping.

Once you’ve waited those long 5 minutes, you’re ready to vape. Insert the pod into the device and press the power button five times to turn it on. Now all you have to do is inhale on the mouthpiece and you’re in business.

There’s no airflow adjustment on the Mi-Pod Pro+, so the draw that it delivers is what you get. It’s a loose MTL draw, so it’s still a nice draw, but if you want a tighter draw then you’ll have to look at another device.

There’s also no wattage adjustment. This device will output a maximum of 15W when the battery is fully charged, and the draw will get weaker as the battery dies.

Although the manual states that the Mi-Pod Pro+ features a “stealth mode”, I personally couldn’t get it to work. The manual says to press and hold the fire button for 5 seconds, and the light will blink twice. After this, the LED shouldn’t light up when you draw. I never did manage to turn this mode on, but the LED isn’t too bright as it is, so it’s not a big deal.

Pods

  • Mi-Pod Pro+ - Pods

The Mi-Pod Pro+ comes with two identical pods in the box: 0.9Ω Mesh Pods. These pods, like the device itself, have been upgraded from the original and now use a mesh coil and are side filled.

The pods can hold up to 2ml of ejuice and they pressure-fit and click into the device. They only go into the device one way, so make sure that you’re keeping the airflow hole on the side of the pod facing outwards.

The pods sit securely in the device and there’s no wiggle or movement at all when they’re clicked in there. As a downside to how secure they are, it can be pretty difficult to remove them from the device. The angle and shape of the mouthpiece doesn’t give you a lot to hold on to, so it’s a struggle at the best, and downright impossible at worst.

The pods are lightly tinted, but they are still easy enough to see into. At the moment, these 0.9Ω pods are the only ones that are available for the Mi-Pod Pro+, however they are available in different colors.

This is a unique feature that I haven’t seen with other pods, and it gives you some room to customize the look of the device, even if it’s a very small part. The Pro Pods are available in red, yellow, purple, pink, blue, orange, and of course the original lightly tinted black/grey.

Battery & Charging

Mi-Pod Pro+ - 6 Charging Port and Power Button

The Mi-Pod Pro+ comes with a built-in and non-removable 950mAh battery. You can actually get a lot of vaping time out of this thing, mainly because it only fires up to a max of 15W and the output gets weaker as it dies. Personally, I averaged two and a half pods of ejuice, or about two days of use, per charge. I’m a heavy vaper, so you can probably expect to get even longer usage times out of this device. Battery life is indicated by the color of the LED, which lights up when you draw on the device:

  • Blue: 3.7V, Full Battery
  • Purple: 3.4 to 3.7V, 50% – 99% Battery
  • Red: 3.4V, below 50% Battery

The LED colors and the corresponding battery life is a little weird, but still useful and usable. It would have been better if the blue LED was something like 60-100%, and purple was 30-59%, but I can live with how it is now. Just know that most of the time, your LED will be purple. When it goes red, you should start thinking about charging.

Charging is done through a Type-C port on the side of the device. Charging speeds are listed at 1A, and it takes roughly 60 minutes to achieve a full charge from dead.  The color of the LED while charging indicates the battery charge the same way as it does when vaping. When the device is fully charged, the blue light will flash 10 times.

Performance

Mi-Pod Pro+ - 7

So how does this super simple device perform? For the absolute lack of adjustability, the Mi-Pod Pro+ delivers a really great vaping experience just as it is. The draw is a loose MTL draw that I would have liked to be a little tighter, but it’s enjoyable and nice to vape on as it is.

The flavor is also definitely there. These new mesh pods deliver flavor that is certainly better than the old pods. I get the more nuanced and subtle flavors from my ejuices, which is excellent for the low power output. The draw gets weaker as the battery dies though, so I tried to keep it charged up most of the time in order to get the best flavor and performance.

I almost exclusively used a single 60VG nicotine salt ejuice in 35mg strength with the Mi-Pod Pro+, and there’s no leaking to report. The pods seem to keep up with wicking, and never gave me a dry or burnt hit.

These pods also seem to last for a while. I’ve refilled the same pod 10 times and I am still using it as I write this review. The flavor is starting to go slightly, but it hasn’t faded enough for me to stop using this pod.

Verdict

Mi-Pod has done an excellent job with the Mi-Pod Pro+. Although it may not have the features and adjustability of other pod devices, it still delivers a great vaping experience complete with great flavor.
