Our Verdict

The experience with the XROS 3 NANO is generally very similar to the XROS 3 MINI and XROS 3, only you get a different shape and design for the device.

Like other XROS devices, this wouldn’t be my go-to RDL device but it’s usable for this purpose. For me, the XROS 3 NANO is a MTL vape that can vape nicotine salts just as effectively as it can vape freebase ejuices. You can RDL with it sometimes and feel good about it, but if that’s the main way that you like to vape then there are better options out there.

What I like the most about the XROS 3 NANO is that the simplicity doesn’t compromise the performance. It’s easy to use, sure, but that doesn’t make it any less of a good device.

VAPORESSO’s AXON chipset, COREX Heating Tech, and SSS leak resistant pod construction all work in combination “behind the scenes” to deliver an excellent vaping experience that, unless you looked closer at the specs, you might just take for granted.

Overall, the XROS 3 NANO is another excellent addition to VAPORESSO’s XROS series of devices and I’m confident that it will make a great addition to your vape collection as well. Highly recommended.

The XROS 3 NANO from VAPORESSO is the latest device in their well-established “XROS” series of pod vapes. The original XROS NANO was released in late 2021 as a compact MTL pod vape with adjustable airflow. It used the same pods as the XROS 2 and XROS MINI and delivered excellent flavor and battery life.

Interestingly enough, the XROS 3 NANO is the direct successor to the original XROS NANO; there was never a XROS 2 NANO. VAPORESSO has skipped the “2” in order to bring the whole XROS series of devices (the XROS, MINI, and NANO) to the “3”. I suspect they’ve done this to make it easier to know which are their latest devices. A smart move on VAPORESSO’s part.

The XROS 3 NANO sticks to the same winning formula as the original, albeit with some aesthetic and technical upgrades.

The XROS 3 NANO uses VAPORESSO’s AXON chipset for consistent performance, even as the battery dies, and packs a 1000mAh battery which can be recharged with Type-C charging. This device is compatible with all XROS 3 pods, which use COREX Heating Tech. You get two pods in the box: a 0.6Ω pod and a 0.8Ω pod. These pods will hold up to 2ml of ejuice.

Design & Build Quality

  • VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 3

VAPORESSO has stuck with the same sort of square shape as seen on the original, but the XROS 3 NANO is slightly taller and longer. With the pod it’s 69.9mm tall, 51.2mm wide, and 14mm deep. It’s not that much bigger than the original and it still has that nice, nearly square shape that I really liked about the original NANO.

The edges on the XROS 3 NANO are straight cut and sharp. Not sharp like they’ll cut you, but sharp as in abrupt. There’s no transition between the sides and so I found it to be less comfortable to hold than the rounded edges and corners on the original.

While the design doesn’t add comfort, it certainly looks sharp, and I think that was VAPORESSO’s purpose with this design decision. The XROS 3 NANO looks premium, expensive, and just all-around like a high-end device.

It’s made primarily of metal, with two panels that sandwich the plastic top, bottom ,and sides. The front panel has a large, lightly debossed VAPORESSO logo which looks great, along with a small engraved “XROS 3 NANO”, and a thin LED bar.

The back panel features the wording “VAPORESSO” stamped over and over in a repeating pattern, which also looks really cool in my opinion. I’ve had comments that this wording appears “gaudy” or too much, but I’ll let you be the judge on that.

VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 4

The plastic on the top, sides, and bottom of the XROS 3 NANO is interesting. It reminds me of 3D printed material and it’s micro-textured in a way that feels grippy and makes an interesting sound if you run your fingernail across it.

The XROS 3 NANO comes in 10 colors, most of which are vibrant and all of which are attractive. I like all of them and honestly wouldn’t mind using any of the colors, even the Rose Pink!

On one side of the XROS 3 NANO there is an airflow slider knob that is firm and feels great, and on the bottom of the device is where the Type-C charging port is located.

There’s also a lanyard anchor spot on the top corner of the device and you get a nice box-link chain in the box. Since the XROS 3 NANO only weighs around 52g, I found myself wearing it around my neck quite often. The weight is perfect as you don’t even notice that it’s there, but it has led to times where I’m looking for my vape, only to realize it was around my neck the entire time.

Features & Functions

  • VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 13

The XROS 3 NANO is like other devices in VAPORESSO’s XROS series; meant to be simple yet effective. With that being said, it doesn’t offer a ton of user-adjustability aside from the adjustable airflow, however it does have some integrated, non-adjustable features that make it a great device.

Starting with the option that you can adjust, the airflow slider is firm and provides a good range of adjustment with each pod. You can go from a MTL to a tight MTL draw with the 0.8Ω pod, and a RDL draw to a very restricted DL/MTL draw with the 0.6Ω pod.

Both of the included 2ml pods will work for freebase or nicotine salt ejuices, but you’ll get the best experience by using the 0.8Ω pod with nicotine salts and the 0.6Ω pod with freebase ejuices or low strength (<20mg) nicotine salts.

The XROS 3 NANO is compatible with all pods from other XROS 3 devices. There are five pods available:

  • 0.6Ω MESH
  • 0.7Ω MESH
  • 0.8Ω MESH
  • 1.0Ω MESH
  • 1.2Ω Pod

All of these pods use VAPORESSO’s patented COREX Heating Tech which uses fluffier cotton and their unique “Morph-Mesh” structure coil for more rapid and even heating, better vaporization, better wicking, and longer pod lifespan. VAPORESSO states that, based on their lab testing, you can get up to 20 days of use with a single pod.

These pods also use VAPORESSO’s SSS leak resistant construction which, in my experience, works really well. I haven’t had any sort of leaking from either of these pods and that mirrors the experience that I’ve had with the XROS 3 and XROS 3 MINI. If there’s a leak-proof pod out there, it’s this one.

In addition to the tech that these pods bring, the XROS 3 NANO uses VAPORESSO’s AXON chipset which boosts power and delivers a consistent output even as the battery dies. This constant output is noticeable, as you don’t even feel the battery dying as you vape. I’ve had the XROS 3 NANO die on me unexpectedly because I wasn’t paying attention to the battery indicator so yeah, it’s nice.

Another neat feature is the slim LED indicator, which lights up in neon colors as you vape. Once you stop vaping, or when you remove or insert the pod, it lights up either green, blue, or red to indicate your battery charge level. The LED doesn’t add anything to the performance but it’s definitely cool to look at!

How to use the XROS 3 NANO

VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 16

Getting started with the XROS 3 NANO is simple, even for a complete beginner to vaping. Once you’ve taken the XROS 3 NANO out of the box, you’ll want to get your preferred ejuice ready for the pod that you will be using. As I mentioned in the last section, nicotine salt ejuices of 20mg/ml strength or less will work fine with either pod. Freebase nicotine ejuices will be best with the 0.6Ω pod, while higher strength nicotine salt ejuices will be best with the 0.8Ω pod.

  • Remove the mouthpiece cap from the pod by pulling it backwards on the long side of the pod.
  • You’ll see three holes. The hole with the red gasket is where you want to insert your ejuice bottle tip to fill the pod. Don’t fill in either of the other holes!
  • Replace the mouthpiece cap onto the pod.
  • Remove the sticker from underneath the pod if there is one.
  • Wait for 5 minutes before inserting the pod into the device. You need to give the cotton some time to absorb and wick the ejuice. If you don’t give it enough time before vaping, you can burn the coil.
  • Insert the pod into the device and set the airflow to the most open position (with the slider down).
  • Inhale on the pod to vape!
  • From here you can adjust the airflow to your liking by playing around with the airflow slider.

Battery & Charging

VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 15

The XROS 3 NANO has a 1000mAh battery, which is the same size as the battery on the original XROS NANO. With both of the included pods I was able to vape over two full pods of ejuice per charge over the course of a few days. That’s excellent battery life for a device and battery of this size, so I don’t have any complaints on this front.

The LED strip on the front of the XROS 3 NANO lights up in neon colors each time you vape. Once you stop, it will light up a solid green, blue, or red to indicate your battery life:

  • Green: 70-100%
  • Blue: 30-70%
  • Red: 0-30%

Charging times are equally as good. Although the XROS 3 NANO only supports 1A charging, it will charge to full from dead in just about 50 minutes. It also features pass-thru charging so you are able to vape on it while it charges if you’re really in need of your vape!

Performance

VAPORESSO XROS 3 NANO - 12

For my time with the XROS 3 NANO, I used a variety of nicotine salt ejuices, as well as 6mg freebase ejuices, with both pods.

The 0.6Ω pod delivers a flavorful and powerful draw that I felt was a bit too much with 30mg nicotine salt ejuices, so I switched it up to a 20mg nic salt. The draw was much better and felt just right with the lower strength nicotine salt and I wouldn’t recommend going much higher than this with the 0.6Ω pod.

Freebase ejuices are perfect for this pod. The draw is strong and I get a good throat hit, but it’s not overwhelming or too much. VAPORESSO recommends this pod for freebase ejuices exclusively and I almost have to agree with them. Like I said, lower strength nic salts are fine, but you’ll get a better experience with nic salts with the 0.8Ω pod or one of the other higher-resistance XROS pods.

That brings me to the 0.8Ω pod, which was my favorite pod of the two. The flavor output is similar to the other pod, but the draw is less intense and more what I expect to get with my nic salt ejuices. The warmth is right, the draw is nice, and the amount of vapor is medium. I’m not trying to chuck huge clouds with this device, so the amount of vapor produced is perfect.

Aside from the direct performance aspect of the XROS 3 NANO, the leak resistance of this thing is A1. I haven’t had any leaking from either pod, even after refilling them each over 8 times and vaping with them for hundreds of puffs. No leaking while vaping, no leaking overnight, just no leaking at all.

Pod life is also just as good as with VAPORESSO’s  other XROS devices, which is not surprising seeing as they use the same pods. I’ve had no drop off in flavor, throat hit, or general performance with either pod and, as of writing this review, they’re still going strong.

Verdict
