GEEK BAR Meloso Pro Disposables Review

Design & Build Quality

The Meloso Pro is small and compact, with rounded sides for a comfortable feel in the hand. Compared to the original Meloso, the materials are the same. The device is made of two pieces; a primarily plastic body and a metal base for a clean and simple, yet interesting, look.

Size-wise, the Meloso Pro is a portable size and very small for having a rechargeable battery and for the amount of ejuice that it contains (12ml). It’s 76mm tall, 42mm wide, and 20mm thick, so it’s easy to completely conceal in my palm for a bit of discreet vaping.

The shiny plastic body is a little slippery but aesthetically, it’s attractive. Each device is a gradient of two colors, with the colors being different depending on the flavor that you  get. The colors kind of match the flavor inside, but only loosely. For instance, Double Apple is a gradient of green to yellow, while blueberry ice is purple to green. Double Apple matches the colors, but most of the other flavors do not.

Thankfully, the flavor is printed on each device, just above the metal base. Also printed on each device in white font is “GEEK BAR” and “Meloso”. The other side of the device features a GEEK BAR logo, as well as regulatory symbols.

The metal base is gold for the majority of flavors, although I noticed that Cola Ice has a silver colored base. Regardless of the color, it looks classy and adds a premium look to these disposables. Located on the bottom are three airflow holes, the Type-C charging port, and a small white LED.

The mouthpiece is one-piece with the plastic body. It’s small, with a nice and comfortable shape. My only complaint here is that it’s so small that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to hold these in your mouth hands-free, but that’s a minor issue.

Overall, the Meloso Pro is well made, with a nice design that is attractive and clean.

Features

The main and most important feature of the Meloso Pro is its Dual-Mesh coil, which is made with what GEEK BAR calls their “VPU Technology”. This is supposed to heat more evenly, avoiding burning, and improve the utilization of eliquid (wicking and atomization), for a better vaping experience.

As a spoiler before the performance section of this review, it really does make a noticeable difference. Vapor is warm, the flavor is full, and each draw feels extremely satisfying. I had a chance to try these at Geekvape’s conference in Paris, France in early April and since then I’ve been thinking about how good the performance is.

Each Meloso Pro comes filled with 12ml of ejuice in 20mg (2%) nicotine strength. This is the only strength available (no 5%) which is odd, but that’s what Geekvape has decided on. If you’re a high-strength disposable user, you’ll probably be left wanting with these.

Inside is a 600mAh rechargeable battery which charges with Type-C charging. Since you can recharge the battery when it dies, you should be able to vape every drop of ejuice out of these. Each Meloso Pro is good for around 4000 puffs.

Flavors

At the time of writing this review, the Meloso Pro is available in 15 flavors. A lot of these flavors are the same as the ones for the original Meloso, but there are also some new ones too. All of the flavors are single fruit or fruit mixes, with the exception of two drink flavors, Energy Ice and Cola Ice.

You’ll notice that the majority of flavors are “Ice”, but even if you don’t like ice flavors, don’t let this turn you away. While the flavors are mostly “Ice”, the ice component isn’t very strong and for some flavors it’s almost unnoticeable. 

I’m going to describe how five of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor that does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor this does not mean that you will not like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Peach Ice

This is a very good peach flavor. There’s a peach rings candy taste but it still has some of that natural peach taste that I like in my vapes. The ice in this flavor is almost imperceptible, with the juicy peach flavor really being the star of this flavor.

Strawberry Banana

This isn’t the best strawberry banana flavor that I’ve tried. Something just tastes off about it. The strawberry and banana flavors are very muddled and mix together too much, creating a weird taste. It’s sweet, but it’s also dull. This is the best way that I can describe it, but all around, I would not recommend it.

Orange Lemon

Some of the other team members thought this had a very “cleaning product” taste to it, but I love it. The lemon flavor is strongest here, with undertones of orange throughout the inhale and exhale. It’s a very fresh and ‘clean’ tasting flavor and I found it refreshing to vape on hot days.

Cola Ice

This flavor has a strong and authentic cola flavor, along with a bubbly sensation that I think is great. It strongly reminds me of those cola gummies that you would get from the corner store. The cola taste is great, and the sweetness in this flavor is balanced and perfect.

Blueberry Ice

Like other ice flavors for the Meloso Pro, the ice component here isn’t very strong so it’s a good flavor even for non-ice vapers. The blueberry flavor is less sweet and more natural than other blueberry vapes that I’ve tried, resulting in a mellow, but still tasty, fruit flavor. If you like blueberry vapes but don’t like them to be too sweet, this is one to try.

How do they vape?

When I first tried these at the Geekvape conference, I was very impressed by the quality of the vape. Now, after getting to use multiple flavors for a few weeks time, I’m even more impressed by the consistency.

The warmth of the draw is one of the best qualities of the Meloso Pro. It’s the perfect temperature draw after draw. The vapor also feels super smooth, but rich and dense with flavor. Even after recharging these a few times, the flavor and draw are consistent and nearly as good as when I first started using them.

As these are only available in 2% nicotine strength, I found them to be a bit weaker than I would like. They’re definitely more satisfying than the majority of 2% disposables on the market, but 5% users will find them weak for sure.

The throat hit for a 2% disposable is good though, and though I had to take extra puffs to get the satisfaction that I wanted, they perform so well that I really didn’t mind doing so.

GEEK BAR explained at their conference that they put a lot of time, effort, and research into developing the VPU dual-mesh coil inside of these. After using them, it’s evident that all of that research and effort was for the better, as these are some of the best performing disposables that I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying.

The airflow is also a strong-point of the Meloso Pro. It’s smooth, quiet, and a perfect MTL draw. It’s right in the middle of a loose MTL and a tight MTL (just a regular MTL draw), so depending on your preferences you might prefer if the draw was tighter or looser. But I think overall, it’s a nice middle-ground and a nice vape in general.

Verdict

GEEK BAR’s Meloso Pro disposables are, in my opinion, the pinnacle of disposables that are available right now. The VPU dual mesh coil truly makes a significant and noticeable difference to the performance, with warm vapor, dense flavor, and excellent consistency from draw to draw.

While I didn’t like the Strawberry Banana flavor, the rest of the flavors are really great and tasty without being overly sweet in order to do so. The flavor lineup for the Meloso Pro is a bit one-dimensional due to only having fruit flavors, which is the major con for these disposables, but this can always be fixed if GEEK BAR releases more flavors in the future; an easy enough thing to do.

A big upgrade over the original Meloso is the 13ml of ejuice and 600mAh rechargeable battery. I was able to charge some of these 3 or 4 times and still continue vaping on them, so they’ll last a while. Although I haven’t been able to vape any of them to completion, the fact that they are still performing as good as new gives me confidence that they can reach the advertised 4000 puff count.

All around, the Meloso Pro is an excellent disposable vape that you won’t be disappointed to try. Highly recommended!
